    I come to Shenzhen with regular frequency, and have done so since living in China since 2015, with my first previous visit in December 2012, so have seen much of its development. Population maybe anything up to twice what you have quoted. There have been many green zone, carbon free industrial parks developed in the outer suburbs, and electric rail is under construction to Huizhou and planned also to Dongguan. As a result the metropolis of Shenzhen is expanding outward, at the rate of knots. Everything is planned environmentally friendly.

      Yeah the city planners of Shenzhen are doing a great job I think. They've built so many new metro lines too which make travel within the city cheap and more carbon efficient.

    30 years ago when I travelled from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. It was like going to a different world. Hong Kong was modern but Shenzhen was farmland and backwards.
    Now it is the other way around. The proud and arrogant Hong Kongers are being left behind, in thought and technology.

      They have constructed about 6 new metro lines since I came here. You can literally go anywhere in the city using the metro and at most it will cost you around 9RMB

    I planed to visit Shenzhen, but then covid hit unfortunetly. But will definetly do that, once it´s possible again.
    Want to visit the large electronic components market there as well.
    Guess one of the reasons why development can be done so fast in shenzhen is, that a lot of things are availiable locally and the companies / people will even work on small projects. Not like having a prototyping company on the other side of the country / a different country and waiting multiple weeks for a board or components or something like that..

    This is impressive, but why does "green" these days always mean "technology" to people? Almost certainly, Shenzhen was far more environmentally friendly when it was a small fishing village than it is today as a huge, high-tech city, as impressive as it is as such.

    • @AaroninChina
      @AaroninChina  2 роки тому

      I don't think that Green just means technology in this sense. Converting all the public transport to electric-powered, imposing fines on polluting companies, and having the most density of green spaces and parks in Chinese cities is part of the reason why I think it's China's Greenest City.

      As a Shenzhen citizen, I used to visit Taipei twice from 2020-2020 and Taipei is far behind of Shenzhen in terms of infrastructure, green environment, economic development. Also I know one Taipei friend has same idea . Normally he has stayed in Shenzhen over 30years and rarely go back to Taipei . All of his 4kids study in Shenzhen. I ask him why he doesn't send back his kids to Taipei for education. He said Shenzhen education is better than Taipei. Only arrogant illerate 1450 'green frogs' select Taipei.

    • @1seawave915
      @1seawave915 2 роки тому

      Taipei is far behind and can't be compared with Shenzhen. I don't think you have been to Taiwan. 90% of its buildings are run down and depressing.
