DIY army here!!! Lets GO! Thx for the help!
Studpack sent me.
Love to see the Canadian products in the pictures! There is a lot of precipitation in Canada, so you know Duradek works!
Zinsser BIN 123 shellac based primer is also great for prepping old oil based painted surfaces to accept a latex top coat.
P.S. Great job with Stud Pack installing their windows!
Used a competitor (to Duradek) product. It was a DYI, so a lot of learning along the way, attention to detail is critical. Yup, I bought the welder for this install only. Now in the garage waiting - I guess - if any repairs needed (I hope not). Posts were mounted on vinyl 4x4 plates that had a PVC trim with the 3/4" weld to the deck surface. Keeps water away from the construction screws on the railing posts. Very happy with the results - 2 years on ... salt water environment, snow, ice, the works. I recommend the technology.
I had a standalone deck (15x20) built 3" off the siding. I wanted something that would outlast me and provide a waterproof deck area below. Note, been under there in 2 hurricanes cocktail in hand.
Some learnings:
Make sure to engineer slope.
Be detailed in the prep.
I did not have access to the best plywood so had alot of knots to fill which was a pain. Actually rented a floor sander (counter sunk the screws, did not tell the rental company what I was using it for).
Planed 1 1\2" around the perimeter to countersink the drip edge.
Bought a wide foam squeejee to push any surface water away after a rain to be able to use the deck quickly - we use it as an extension off the kitchen. Can walk out in bare feet or socks ...
Great show Matt !
Dang, Matt is quite the professional
You have done a video on a prefab concrete foundation, but what about the prefab insulated concrete or metal walls and roofs?
How does Duradek compare to an old school built up tar roof
as a flat roof; not for deck use?
I want to use this and build a deck with a shop below.
How will you water proof under a deck that is already built? I’m looking to use the space under the deck for storage and I don’t want to element/weather damage what it’s inside?
Is this product available in the U.S.?
Good examples, but sorry, thumbs down for not going into approximate costs.
i hope you got well paid for this nonsence.
you guys need better mics. major clipping even in the first 6 seconds. unwatchable.
