Let us know what your favourite product from IBC 2023 was down below! EDIT - Fujifilm also announced three new lenses along with the GFX 100 II.
Small correction but not Panasonic L mount but Leica's L mount. Hence why it is "L". Though Panasonic is probably the most visible camera maker with the mount.
It was really nice meeting you at the show Jake! You’ve got such a humble and nice attitude, and stuff you guys produce is amazing. Great recap! And hopefully until some other time! Cheers
Hey Pepijn, you too man! It's always great meeting people who value what we do, I really do appreciate the kind words. Catch you soon, Jake
I would love a comparison of all current blackmagic cameras, from the pocket 4k to the ursa 12k. Also a with all the more affordable anamorphic options coming out, (laowa proteus, dzo Pavo, atlas Orion and mercury series, and maybe stuff from viltrox and vazen), a video discussing the pros and cons of each would be interesting and I think many people would like to see it. 😊
The GFX100 II looks great. Would love to see a DR test and what look styles it has in it when you review it
The Micro Studio camera is the most amazing one IMO. The completely open, non proprietary control API (with zoom and autofocus control!) is amazing and should be adopted by other brands as well.
are you talking about the camera or the control
@@hexotech5202 The Micro Studio, when connected to Ethernet, becomes an HTTP server that exposes the control API. So you can send a request to set e.g. zoom, trigger autofocus, trigger scene whitebalance, etc.
Thanks for attending IBC for us. It's always good to keep up with technology. Personally, I am very interested in the Sony Burano. I think it's a major addition to filmmaking cameras.
Great recap!! Would love to see some real world footage taken with the gfx100 II with spherical and anamorphic lenses. Keep up the great work.
Preferably less shots in the 8k crop mode and more shots that use the most of the sensor.
Regarding anamorphic shootout, I’d like to see you explore the usability of the skewed focal planes on each set. How practical is it to film multiple subjects in a single frame and keep them all sharp?
Thank you so much. You do amazing work for who hasn't been there. Best regards from Brazil, my friend.
Thanks for the great overview. It was a nice surprise bumping into you guys at the Bright Tangerine stand :)
Informative video Thanks CVP.
Thank You, very well done!
Thanks for swinging by and checking out what’s new! 👍🍊🎥
Went to IBC this year for work, and my favorite "announcement" was Sony's new HXC-FZ90 system camera. Technically they sneakily announced it back in June, but that completely went under our radar. As someone who is looking for new broadcast system-cameras to buy within the next year, the HXC-FZ90 looks like a solid "entry level" professional broadcast system camera, especially given that Panasonic has eaten a lot of marketshare with their AAK-UC3300/4000 cameras. I only wish that there was more information on the HXC-FZ90 out there.
Don't understand how BMD hasn't made a box cam with better rolling shutter. We've been begging for years. If y'all could test the rolling shutter on it, that would be great.
Great recap 🎉
Really looking forward to that a7s3 app update in March
EZ 3 looks cool with the interchangeable mounts. Would like to see how that works in your review 😊
Sony Burano! That was def my favorite announcement.
The BM Camera App is great, but I found that it was having problems recording at times. And I didn’t run out of space on my phone storage or anything. Brilliant to use though and I’ll be experimenting with that more I think
I would really love to know how the new Blackmagic compares in color with their previous offerings in the Pocket line.
Laowa Proteus and DZOFILM Pavo comparison would be great! Also I'm curious about the Irix cine lens lineup so a review about those would be nice as well.
The original micro you can insert sd card to record internally. From what I read the new micro does not have any memory card slot. So you can only record externally. That makes big difference.
The original micro Cinema could but the studio, which is what this is replacing could not internally record. Jake
The biggest thing here is the mention by Sony of something new for the A1 March 2024 via (app support) which suggests new firmware - y'all know we have been screaming for new firmware - hopefully they have other stuff with it.
Please check the Pavo “Helios” swirl seems pretty pronounced on certain focal lengths in the shootout please n thank you.

Heck yeah. Sounds like Black Magic is really keeping up with what they're known for: Less features, that annoying popup screen, and a need for lots of equipment to get it working like an S5XII or heck, FX6. lol ❤❤
Please include the Nanomorphs in your shootout.
Really wish Blackmagic put a gyro into the new 4k studio cam. Such a good platform for gimbals and drones with the write out to ssd.
The want factor for the Burano is real
I like the PAVO anamorphic lenses.
Question: Was there nothing from Kondor Blue (cages / handles) for the new Fujifilm GFX100 ii?
Kondor have done a cage for the GFX so I'm sure the SSD handle will work fine. Though with whats come out about the failure rate of Sandisk SSD's, I would maybe look at something else. Jake
sorry for the question but I am looking to hire a camera to shoot a promo for my kickstarter campaign and the video/picture/colours need to be crisp and sharp. any recommendations
When will the EZ3 start shipping & how much is the deposit for it ?
can Tilta add the electronic ND to their mattebox line? #LCTEC
When are the preorders for the 6k being dispatched? Just curious?
Still not a single manufacture to implement Display Port -- now up to version 2.1. The more professional and vastly superior port over HDMI (a consumer port).
The new Atomos recorder had plenty of room for XLR inputs, but they chose not to include them. I find that baffling. I know people have other ways to capture XLR audio, but it would be nice if the video recorder could also do it.
Can someone explain the benefit of putting lenses on the sky panel, and then diffusing them again.. why wouldn't you just use the diffuser directly??
Is it because it would take too long to remove the lenses?
Thanks guys.
One note: the audio was considerably thin this time. Change of mic setup or just a mixing error?
Cheers
So glad they finally dumped the EF-mount for the Pocket Cinema. The EF mount never made any sense.
It made sense back in the day, but not today! It was only a matter of time for them to switch. Hopefully we see the rest of their camera line update to it! Jake
Question about BMCC6K when you get it. How is it with 2x anamorphic lenses like Atlas lenses?
No 2x but there are a few clips available on their site with 1.5 and 1.8: www.blackmagicdesign.com/nl/products/blackmagiccinemacamera/gallery
Sorry Jake I'm gonna have to correct you on the blackmagic micro studio 4k g2 sensor size. The pocket 4K sensor size 18.96 x 10 mm and the blackmagic micro studio 4k g2 sensor size is 17.78 x 10 mm. So as you see they are different sensors. So I expect you'll do a deep dive on the new blackmagic micro studio 4k g2 sensor size as you've never covered this smaller sensor ;-)
Thanks but from the looks of it the sensors are the same, apart from this slight difference in size. The difference in sensor size comes from the Pocket 4K shooting DCI 4K and the Micro only shooting UHD. It's the same sensor used in the Studio 4K which I'm sure has been confirmed to be the same as the Pocket 4K. The mapping of DR is the same and other specs look almost identical. Jake
Hopefully Blackmagic can push the new camera a bit harder with firmware updates. Maybe 72fps at 6K with an overheating warning?
blackmgaic will not do that they never have the camera can run quite warm already ever felt the vent at the bottom of it before. they need a better body likt the micro studio
The limitation isn't the body but the read out speed of the sensor. Literally can't do anything about that
does the fuji gfx100-ii has a ND filter?
It does not.
We need that black magic review
Should be getting a camera soon! Jake
@@CVPTV would love to see how it works with a small touch monitor attached might be a great cam to place on a gimbal with a small monitor, cine lens and DJI RS3
Compare new 6k full frame with S5II X for filmmaker’s in tight budget.
Blackmagic give you a LPF, internal BRAW recording, a large tilt screen, and a wonderful UI. Maximum resolution is 6048 x 4032 open gate at 36 fps.
Panasonic give you incredible photography features, IBIS, dual card slots, video streaming, a built-in EVF, and longer battery life. Maximum resolution at 4:2:2 for internal recording is DCI 4K (4096x2160) at 30 fps.
BMCC6k
👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾. 🏴🇸🇪🇹🇹
While the Micro Studio 4k G2 is definitely marketed as an upgrade to the OG Micro Studio Camera I don't understand why people aren't also viewing it as an upgrade to the Micro Cinema Camera as well. The OG BMMSC 4k had 11 stops of DR, a baked in 709 look, a super 16 sensor, and couldn't record to media without a Video Assist or equivalent recorder. The OG BMMCC had 13 stops of DR, a super 16 sensor, color science 1, both video and film log, and recorded 1080p CinemaDNG RAW to SD cards. If we look at this new BMMSC 4k G2 it has a 4k dual gain MFT sensor, 13 stops of DR, color science 5, both video and film log, and can record BRAW to SDD via USB. This new camera is literally a merger and upgrade of both of the previous cameras with the one exception that Blackmagic uses Gain instead of ISO. Given 0db gain on it is ISO 400 then each full stop is a 6db shift in whichever direction one wishes to shift it relative to its previous gain with a range from -12db/iso100 to 36db/iso25600. If enough people petitioned Blackmagic to simply add a gain/iso toggle option this camera could simply be called the Blackmagic Micro Camera, as it's a dual function camera.
change yt speed to 1.5
I cant win! People complain all the time that I speak to quick and now it's too slow!? 😂
@@CVPTV few recent vid a bit slow for me but it's fine guys 😉 (maybe it become problem if it way to fast because stretch audio sampling to slow it down), i'm used to hear fast yt to save time so it's on me and there's feature to change yt speed 😂
I clicked on this video claiming to present Filmmaking Tech, yet I saw no cameras using film. What's with that? Everything was digital. This hurts and I was expecting to see cameras like those used in the making of Oppenheimer but got served only digital. How about doing an old school video on film cameras used in making movies versus digital.
