Product placement like this is clever. It’s in character that Joey would have a bucket of chicken for himself, and Rachel’s delivery of the word chicken is hilarious. The KFC bucket then becomes a funny prop and seems necessary to the scene.

It’s just that product placement is often so obnoxious and out of character. Take the Netflix movie he’s all That. Every other scene has a piece of brand name junk food that is mentioned by brand. In this friends scene, they just call it chicken. And it gets written into the scene, it’s not just there to have a logo on the screen.

Chandler and Monica were really selfish when they were hiding their relationship, they took any chance to paint Joey as the bad guy to keep their relationship secret. I am glad Joey got the revenge here.
