Mountain Flying in the Colorado Rockies - Denver to Telluride in the Cirrus SR22 Turbo

- Hey UA-cam! Launching a new channel - Kilo Whiskey Aviation - come join me as I fly from Centennial Airport (KAPA) to Telluride (KTEX) in the Cirrus SR22T. Telluride is the highest commercial airport in North America, and brings with it challenging terrain, high density altitude and a really cool approach on top of a plateau 1000 feet above town.
Would love your comments and feedback as I continue to share my passion of aviation - also, please subscribe to my channel and you will be notified when I release future content.

Videos found on the Kilo Whiskey Aviation channel are for purposes of entertainment only and not intended to replace aviation instruction with a Certified Flight Instructor.
Nice job KW. You've got the cameras perfect. Nice looking Cirrus you and your buddy have there!! Cheers-Ren
Thx Ren - you inspired me! BTW, for those who haven't seen The Ren Baron, check it out here ua-cam.com/channels/gs1-nEzcc7fSP5OUCJn5yA.html
Wow great first video! ... Looking forward to seeing more of your future content!!
Thx - more to come!

me: 😱gonna run off the road 😱
me: oh right its sped up
Thanks for sharing!!!
Very nice video. Looking forward to more. What I would appreciate is showing your route plan on a sectional if VFR or IFR chart if IFR and a short discussion of why you chose that particular route. This is especially interesting for mountain flights. Another thing that would be great and a big miss with other UA-camrs, is showing the flight using something like your Flightaware track and information. It will be interesting and educational for us to see what altitudes you flew, what speeds etc. Mountain flights lend themselves for this particularly well. Having said all this... it is your video and all this might just be too much work...haha.
Again, thanks, keep it coming and good luck. Beautiful plane!!
Thx for the feedback!
Great video KW!! Nice landing - you made it look easy.
Thx M!
Snow tops looked amazing on that approach.... You have mountains, and I have the east coast of Florida to fly.
I was in Denver, July of 2021, on business with my wife, and we enjoyed the food at the Perfect Landing ! If we are ever that way, maybe you can meet us for lunch. Let me know if you are ever in Orlando.
Again, thanks for sharing your video, safe flying ! CYA
Thx Dave! Come fly in Colorado sometime - you’ll have a blast. Blue skies, KDW
We were also in Colorado end of June to beginning of July 2021. We went to a Rockies game on 7-1. watch?v=f7UHgLJGy3M We were in right field. It was my kids' first MLB game.
Nice video! Came over from the COPA post as well. As someone else mentioned, lower music volume and just having the ATC is sufficient. Much better than I’d be able to produce though. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Thx Adam!
Man I’m jealous! Flying in the mountains is on a completely different level than in Texas!
Corey - will be in CStat in a few weeks - let's go fly!
I’m coming over here from your COPA FB post. I am a frequenter of aviation vlogs, especially Cirrus with lots of ATC. My most common complaint on vlogs is regarding those that try to be music videos. That is not your audience. I haven’t watched this yet in full, but in what I saw, you did well at including quality comms audio and not dominating the sound experience with your favorite music. Production tools make this so easy and my plea is that you keep that temptation in check. Music tracks easily start to make it feel like a marketing video or very long commercial. My suggestion is that less is more. Only add music so subtly that the viewers focus on the story is enhanced, not detracted. The few cruise segments, for example, come in on the loud side so could still be lightened up, IMO. Or use that space for some narration? This looks like a great start and I’m only saying so much because you might still be early enough in that you are listening to feedback! Im usually watching videos more than a year old. Thanks for sharing and safe flying in that beautiful bird. (I am 4 hrs into my Cirrus transition!)
A B - grateful for the feedback!
I concur about the music. No need to insert music at any opportunity when there’s no ATC comm. I look forward to seeing more videos from you :)
Great video and narration. You should remove the music from future videos.
Baron Von Rickentoff off your port side...
To bad the channel seemed to disappear as quickly as it appeared.
Jarod - hang in there! I’ll upload new content soon :-)
@@kilowhiskeyaviation3908 So glad to hear it. Having only ~125 hours in a C172, watching these airplanes is special. I've flown in them but owning one would be amazing. The one I got to fly was N5000J. From Hutchison, KS to Wiley Post in Bethany, OK with the regional salesman about 10 years ago.
Nice video! Fun to watch. I hope you get the audio fixed for future flights. Improvements for next time would be make the video shorter and include a route map so we can see where you are flying. Thanks! Chuck
Chuck - appreciate the tips!
Thanks for the content! I concur with the comments about the music. Understand you had audio problems, would have appreciated at least more narration about the route and altitudes you chose. Watch Niko’s Wings for an example of someone who gets the music balance right. One question, I saw you pull the plane out of the hangar with the oil door still open (I think). Is there a reason for that in your preflight sequence? Keep producing!!
Yep - engine was hot from a prior flight - oil door remains open to continue venting/cooling until we button up before flight.
Nice video and love the scenery. I'd like to take some mountain flying training in my SR22. Do you have any CSIP's you'd recommend? I'd be flying in from Minnesota.
Recommend Independence Aviation @ KAPA - they have several CSIPs that provide mountain instruction.
@@kilowhiskeyaviation3908 Great, thank you very much. Looking forward to the next video.
Hi, Kilo Whiskey! Just curious about the Camera behind you and how you secured it (to the oxygen panel?).
Hey Michel! If you are a member of COPA, run to the marketplace and search for GoPro oxygen port mount. If you are not a member, highly recommend joining - best $65 you can spend if you are a cirrus driver :-).
@@kilowhiskeyaviation3908 Thank you soo much!!
Watched you sump fuel but never saw you look at it... Perhaps the speed of the video?
Yep - that part of the intro is 8x speed. It's a white hangar floor so super easy to spot any impurities. Fly safe!
Man I need to be rich lol really minimize the amount of traffic I have to deal with on the 70
Annoying music
