Just got my Ryker today and im short already as it is and shifting into a reverse is annoying. I saw other options but it was too expensive and weird to have a another lever stand out. This is much better option. Thank you!
Great video! I really wasn't even thinking about getting anything else but a jockey shifter; however , I believe they are OVER priced by most sites. Now that I have seen your video, I think this will work for me too. Thank you for this, sir
@tourinojacks5844 I am glad you found the video helpful. My wife is only 4 foot 8 inches and this works perfect for her. Jockey Shifters are definitely over priced.
I purchased my 2020 Ryker used and it had this mod already done, but it was all loose. Your video helped me see how it was put together and now I am able to reposition and tighten everything anew. I'm going to use somme blue thread lock when putting the bolt back in the shifter extension. Thanks.
I just got my 2020 Ryker 900 and did this mod immediately. To get the rubber off I used my wife's hairdryer . I heated the rubber up on high for no more than a couple of minutes and it expanded sufficiently to be pulled off easily. I had to twist like you mention but didn't need a glove even though the rubber was quite warm. Putting it back on I used some dishwasher soap liberally down the inside of the rubber and it slipped right back on the shaft very easily.
To put the new shifter on you put the screw in the threaded hole and force it open. Works perfect don’t have to thread it toofar the serrated bore opens right up.You have to put a little plate of sorts over the hole so the Screw doesn’t go through.
Great idea, and mission accomplished! One thought: there’s a reason the shifter won’t slide on easily with the bolt in place, or that the bolt won’t thread easily if you try to put it in after the shifter is in place. The shifter is designed to slide onto a splined shaft with a groove cut into it. That way, even if the bolt comes loose, the lever is still held captive and can’t fall off. Without that groove, the bolt interferes with the fat portion of the round shaft. Solution? Just a few minutes with a Dremel tool or file to make a little relief notch in the fatter portion of the shaft where the bolt goes. Worked like a dream and can save a lot of aggravation.
Thanks Tarheel. It works really well and is super easy to do. I am not mechanically inclined and I did it easily lol. It is so much easier to shift into reverse now.
I bought the gear shifter on this video, tried to put it on my Ryker today, and can't get it to tighten up.It does nothing but spin around.............any suggestions?
@@budyser365 I went and checked my Amazon and it is 11mm. Maybe my fiancé didn’t get it tight enough. The video we watched was already installed and just explained how to do it. So I’m gonna show him this one later. Mines a 2024. Idk if the size is any different 🤷🏻♀️
I had to rock the gear shifter back and forth and push. You will take off a lot of paint. Don't be afraid to scratch it up. It should go for you. Once on, use some touch up paint to prevent rust.
@@servantsoldier5207 Nice 👌 😎 We have owned our Rallies since spring of 2019. A few friendly words of advice. Please sit down with a cold drink and Read the Owners Manual front to back. There is a ton of CORRECT INFORMATION in there. ⚠️⚠️there is a Ton of MISINFORMATION ON UA-cam ⚠️⚠️

We bought our Rallies spring of 2019 I'm 5'9 and my wife is 5'11 we have never used our hands to shift or had any problems. We don't pull it back with our toe either. But we also wear Appropriate foot wear while riding. A boot with a heel and an arch fits the shifter and the foot pegs. You should never ride a bike in Flat Soles or you run the risk of your foot slipping off the pegs ⚠️⚠️ PPE WHILE RIDING WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE ⚠️⚠️

Thanks for watching Ed. The Dremel is a great idea. I am glad that you were able to get the project finished. 🎉😀
Thanks for the video. I bought two one for my husbands and my bike.
I am glad it helped you out Susan. My wife is only 4 foot 8 inches and this mod really helps her drive the Ryker.
I took my shifter off and moved 2 notches so it was closer to me. Made shifting much easier.
I thought about moving mine also on top of doing this mod. My wife is short and it will help her a lot.
budyser365 I’m short too. I usually shift by hand but with it moved I can pull it back with my foot easier.
Hey there Mark. Nice little mod. Very inventive. Ride Safe Brother. Namaste 🙏🏻

Where did you get the silver fairings?
The silver fairings are standard on the 2019 Rally Edition.
The one I got looks like this but mine is loose
@nikkil9555 please make sure it is the right size. It needs to have an 11mm hole. Anything larger and it will be loose.

No problem John. It works really well. I am glad that I was able to help.
When the fuel light comes on the Ryker how many miles left?
You have 1 us gallon left in your tank.
What bike do you have and how long have you had it?[
