I've been told when using jig raps that if you jig up, it makes the lure swim horizontally 90 deg. to the hole and then glides back to the hole.

We have gone twice a couple years ago, and our experience was a ton af small ones , we caught about 30 fish and kept 2. It`s a two hour drive for us so now we just fish St. Clare when theres ice.

@@joebacarella2829 that’s the best bet!! The quality of fish is bad on the river.

@@timstiles7653 I know!! A lot of people told me back in the day there used to be 8-10 pound walleye all the time!! I think the population died down and it’s just a lot of new growth..

going out there for the first time on sunday any tips on what to look for in the river?

@@thomaspajor954 Always check the ice even tho there’s shanty’s on it! The river is very unforgiving.. yesterday there was 8” but there still could be soft spots. Over the years we were on 6-7” and then 20 yards out it was 2” I also had a spud go through in the heart of the coldest month of winter!! Tips and tricks make sure you are in the cannel of the river.. also make sure you’re pounding the bottom! Every time the walleye act different they might want different presentations or different bait etc. Also if you’re not catching them MOVE around!!! Good luck Sunday…

Stay in between the buoys and look for deep holes on a fish finder or a depth map of the river on google maps
