I wasn't even born in the 1970s or 80s but I would have loved to met him back then and I think we would have been great bffs best friends forever and so I can help him be sober from his addictions and so I can love him and be by his side as a BFF forever 😊❤️❤️. My father is an alcoholic I know what he went and been through because my dad has an alcoholic addiction and he's sick and he needs help my dad had kidney cancer renal cell carcinoma and In his one of his kidneys and he had his kidney taken out October 2th and he's going back to work soon and he's recovering well and he has done well from his surgery and I bless my dad and lefi Garrett to get through this and I pray for Jesus to help lefi and my dad too God bless you my dad and lefi Garrett ❤❤😊.
I ordered the book last week and it came a few days ago. I started reading it this morning and oh my goodness what a great read so far.
I ordered the book 2 through Amazon I'm up to the part where he's meeting David McLeod.
And if you do Google David you'll see all the stuff that.. he did he was a total perv. His mom just pretty much let these men take him anywhere. I think she had good intentions but she was naive. He starts really taken cocaine around the age of 15

I listened to the audio book for Idol Truth and I enjoyed it. I think the irony is that Leif was so upset throughout the book of Lip syncing and how it caused so many problems for him. He should have at least used his voice to narrate the book!!!

He was a big part of my early teens . Such a beautiful person . After reading his book one can’t help but feel that those who should have been watching out for him, didn’t. So sad I pray things get better for him.

Another thing I would like to add is that Leif Garrett is not the only one that has fallen the way he has because of producers or those that contracted him to do records, events, concerts etc. Many others such as those of different strokes were used and taken advantage of and then disposed of like their lives didn’t matter.
He is on drugs, his mother treats him in a state of stocking, and has no way to teach his children
Being a solo singer must be tough being in stardom. Group band said they have a support system as not alone. Regardless being in public eyes must be stressful.

I am a Chinese fan of Leif! ! ! He is not a celebrity in mainland China, but I was still attracted by his beauty at first sight! ... He is cute and handsome, and his songs have also been covered by artists in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Alan Tam and Frankie Kao have sung his songs!
I remember seeing him in my brothers CREEM rock magazine back in the day. I was crazy about girls at the time, but whew, I thought he was gorgeous.
I'm reading this book and I mean the amount of women he had sex with before he was even 18... Way older women like 28 29 30.

I too am reading “Idol Truth”, totally unbelievable that not ONE ...not ONE responsible adult tried to rein Leif in or guide him. Leif is an absolute miracle that he survived and lived to tell about it with much more mature wisdom now as he looks back. Great read and as a fan back in the day, my heart hurts for Leif for all he went through and the choices that he made. With no supervision it wasn’t a matter IF he would go totally off the rails but WHEN he would go off the rails. All those “ so called friends/management” that used him back in the day just used Leif as a cash cow and when that dried up, they threw him to the curb.
Prayers for you Leif, keep getting better and remember you have MANY fans who believe in you!!

I had a crush on Leif as a young girl, then met a guy that looked familiar, on looking through his teen photos, I understood why, he was the spitting image in every way of Leif Garrett, its crazy how much they looked alike, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, face shape even figure is exactly the same, I bet he's kicking himself he never realised back then, he could've been his lookalike and got paid for doing as Leif would say, nothing. 😁

He started filiming a movie in 1982, Gossip, which was never completed as I read there were money issues. In 1983 he was supposed to be in Hi-Jinx, a college comedy with Todd Bridges and Scott Baio, which was never made. I hope the book touches on those ones
He doesn't mention any of these. I didn't know about theses movies. He also talked on American Bandstand about a movie he was to star in about a boxer. That didn't happen, either. Don't know why.
@@lorissagross6657 I got the ebook and yeah I was disappointed he doesnt say much about movies from 1980 onward. I found a magazine article online which showed him boxing probably training for the movie, and it was a biographical film planned to have been made around 1979. The powers that be wanted him to be in Longshot instead, possibly because it was more teen oriented film

SamsungGalaxy Wish he had finished the films and I would have liked to see the show with Leif and Scott Baio. Also would have liked more content in the Idol Truth book, not much personal stuff and really short chapters, though it was easy to read and I could imagine him saying it.

I am going to get it also , saw him on Dr. Oz he had a hard rode with having been so famous so young. I think he didn't have anyone to watch out for him. He got pretty much what ever he wanted.

One thing I noticed he kind of skipped over or barely discussed his affair with Diane Lane he talked about it in the premiere magazine article years ago with the Outsiders so we know they fucked but all he says in the book is I feel bad for what happened. my man.

Liked the book but wish it talked more about his home life and mom and sister. Does his sister have kids is he an uncle? I know in book he said when he was about 16 he decided not to bring children into this world. Shame I wish he did, his life might have been different then. The book talks a lot about sex and cocaine surely there is more to Leif than that. In it he said that teen mags kept asking him his favourite food, favourite colour, type of girl etc he should have put a list of those questions and answers in at the end even for a joke as i'd have liked to know the answers.
I couldn't get over the amount of older... Women that he was with before he was even 18!! it was the seventies and his mom was just letting him do whatever it was a completely different era she was kind of naive.
