  • Annie Le, a bright 24 year old graduate student, vanished without a trace five days before her wedding-and it wasn’t because of cold feet. Surveillance cameras captured her entering a laboratory building on campus . . . but never documented Annie leaving. What happened to Annie?

I was surprised it took them so long to look at the card reading records. Seems like that is where they should have started in the first place. Survellience and card readers should have been step 1 as well as locking down at least the floor she went missing from.

The guy said he saw her leaving. There were no indication of violence. There must be an evidence for things to be in motion.... Mind you 4 days is very good. if the girl didn't notice the bloody sanitary wipes it would go on weeks or never find out what happened to her

Oh I worked at Yale in 2012 and wasn’t allowed to be alone in the lab after dark. Sometimes it was very annoying and nobody would tell me why. After a couple of months one of the postdocs told me about this case and that that was the reason I wasn’t to be left alone. I had never seen the reporting on the case. It’s terrible.

Oh wow, I assumed that this would be something all future students would know about. Awful that Yale doesn't acknowledge her death and more importantly, her life and accomplishments. She should have a statue or plaque in her name, or at least have a study hall or something named after her, to honor her memory...

Obviously, Yale was forced to implement better security measures. They probably installed more security cameras as well in that area. Unfortunately, no one can tell what is going on inside a person's mind, even though they can appear friendly and trustworthy.

The 2000s were a crazy different time. I will clarify that the jealousy motive IS the entitlement motive. If you listened to the cop explain it, he said that most male on female homicides at the workplace were the result of rejection. As in, she wasn't interested, but he felt entitled to her time and intimacy and wanted to take it anyway. Calling it "jealousy" was just far more common back then as a sort of emotional excuse for men and a way of skirting around the way men felt entitled to women.

no it's not. violence against women got more attention today as people are waaaay aware of this thing. you see a lot of cases uncovered means people are highlighting and uncovering this problem more to the society. violence against women is a relatively new concept since it was literally more normalized in previous centuries (women are men's object, women can't vote, women are witches, etc etc)

The news everyday of women being attacked on the streets, isn't it a daily thing we expected? Is that rare?

Why isn't the word "bloody" to be pronounced? This is ridiculous.

police is OFTEN not doing enough. The friends KNOW you and is constantly trying to find a person and the police often think it's a runaway. WHO runs away when you are often strong on routine and a teacher's pet? I am absolutely not the runaway type and one of my biggest fears is go missing and not be searched because they'd think I ran away.

Such a tragic ending for someone who had such a bright future ahead of her, all at the hands of a monster. No amount of jail time/money will ever bring her back so did her family truly get their justice? I am sure they would trade all that for her to be alive. But at least the perp was found and is serving his punishment for his depraved act. Rest in Peace Annie and wishing her loved ones healing and peace.

That's incredibly heartbreaking. I'm just trying to imagine what it'd be like to escape a communist regime, raise your only daughter, see her potential, watch her mature and complete highschool, get accepted into a Yale graduated program, become a respected, loved person amongst her peers...the amount of pride I would feel as a parent only to have all of that wrenched away by some unknown reason. To think, the only person who can at least provide the reason is still sitting in jail, not willing to speak or explain himself. It's infuriating and gutwrenching to think about.

I know a man who go berserk if the things are put in a wrong way. He was Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. All the canned good , bottles should be facing in front. I cannot cook on the stove. He does it in a microwave. I cannot touch the wall with my hands because it would leave a mark. I went crazy with his rules of orderliness and cleanliness. I think this may be the case of Raymond besides an attraction to Miss Le. Sad. RIP brilliant girl.

It is so sad that law enforcement agencies, in this case, didn't do their jobs. The law enforcement officer is trying to justify her inaction in investigating this missing person case. She is kidding by saying, "What the chance that something bad happened?"Really!
