- Annie Le, a bright 24 year old graduate student, vanished without a trace five days before her wedding-and it wasn’t because of cold feet. Surveillance cameras captured her entering a laboratory building on campus . . . but never documented Annie leaving. What happened to Annie?

I can't believe they didn't bring a cadaver dog in asap. No footage of her leaving the building and her belongings still there. Police should have known immediately that she never left.
I was surprised it took them so long to look at the card reading records. Seems like that is where they should have started in the first place. Survellience and card readers should have been step 1 as well as locking down at least the floor she went missing from.
The guy said he saw her leaving. There were no indication of violence. There must be an evidence for things to be in motion.... Mind you 4 days is very good. if the girl didn't notice the bloody sanitary wipes it would go on weeks or never find out what happened to her
But remember, they first assumed she was a runner bride, instead of her being dead. The whole system failed her😭 May she rest in peace.
most cops are dummm
@@StrawberryStar7 exactly, which is why the system failed her. They shouldn't have assumed that she got cold feet and run away or that she had an affair. If they had listened to her family and friends and believed the security cameras, the first thing out should have been the dogs...
Oh I worked at Yale in 2012 and wasn’t allowed to be alone in the lab after dark. Sometimes it was very annoying and nobody would tell me why. After a couple of months one of the postdocs told me about this case and that that was the reason I wasn’t to be left alone. I had never seen the reporting on the case. It’s terrible.
Oh wow, I assumed that this would be something all future students would know about. Awful that Yale doesn't acknowledge her death and more importantly, her life and accomplishments. She should have a statue or plaque in her name, or at least have a study hall or something named after her, to honor her memory...
THIS happened during the DAYTIME, DUMBBELL!!! Between 10am and NOON. With HUNDREDS of people working IN THAT building!!!!
Obviously, Yale was forced to implement better security measures. They probably installed more security cameras as well in that area. Unfortunately, no one can tell what is going on inside a person's mind, even though they can appear friendly and trustworthy.
That's kind weird when you think about. You're safe alone. If you're with someone better hope they're someone good!

They should also sue the sister and brother in law who “ scrubbed “ his record clean to get him a job. If not for them hiding his violent past he would not have had access to Annie. I hope they were both terminated.
They should've been put in jail too. It's almost like being an accessory.
@@sheilag.834 - If his past was as a juvenile and they went through the expungement process, that would have to be approved by a judge to clear his record... He was young enough that it was probably juvenile legal issues and those are easy to take before a judge and get handled. The system failed here without having him examined and checked by psychologists before clearing his record. He looks squirrely in his photos and I would have insisted that he get a complete evaluation.
Corruption all the way......
The family is just using the system to make it best for them selves....... Stop both of them for all time to come any in charge at any place and hopefully they get some time with his loving member of the family ...... do your time

How can he not get life in prison? He should get life in prison or the death penalty. The 44 years in prison is not enough.
This is better than a life sentence. Life sentences can qualify a person for a chance for parole after 15 years of "good behavior". It depends on the state and circumstances. Either way he should've been able to rot till he died in jail.
Nah, the death penalty would have been too good for him. He deserves to sit and suffer with what he's done for the rest of his life. Death is just an easy out.
He probably won't survive those 44 years.
Should be at least 60 years in case he made it... RIP Annie. 💔
Life in prison is a total of 25 years. I think 44 years (almost double life which is 50 years) is fair enough because if he had gotten life he would have opportunity for parole..

@@d25102exactly…another disgusting pR0n sick male that feels entitled to a woman- simply bc he’s attracted to her
The 2000s were a crazy different time. I will clarify that the jealousy motive IS the entitlement motive. If you listened to the cop explain it, he said that most male on female homicides at the workplace were the result of rejection. As in, she wasn't interested, but he felt entitled to her time and intimacy and wanted to take it anyway. Calling it "jealousy" was just far more common back then as a sort of emotional excuse for men and a way of skirting around the way men felt entitled to women.
@@alexmatthews3419 Entitlement and jealousy are two completely different things. Rejection isn't jealousy either. And it wasn't the same in the 2000s, it never was.

no it's not. violence against women got more attention today as people are waaaay aware of this thing. you see a lot of cases uncovered means people are highlighting and uncovering this problem more to the society. violence against women is a relatively new concept since it was literally more normalized in previous centuries (women are men's object, women can't vote, women are witches, etc etc)
It most definitely is not "normalized". Nor is it condoned. At all. I say this as someone who experienced abuse and SA. People like you with statements like that are part of the problem too.
@@SetsunaMeiou-SailorPluto if it's not normalized then data by the UN is just minimal, right? 45000 women murdered in 2021, just a regular thing. The number grows every year. Abortion is banned, wich is violence against women's rights, isn't that normalized?
The news everyday of women being attacked on the streets, isn't it a daily thing we expected? Is that rare?
Women have to go outside being careful about where they go, what they're wearing, who they talk to, anyone could attack them. This precautions are expected of them because VIOLENCE IS NORMALIZED BECAUSE IT IS EXPECTED

He thought he would take advantage of being alone with Her with no one else around. Just what serial killers do. Thankfully, he got caught.
No one would run away without their purse/wallet containing their ID and credit cards.
The most productive takeaway from this story is to remain vigilant, look out for others, and please do NOT keep creep stories to yourself. It completely confounds me how many times psychos are protected by people staying silent. Then we are surprised when it happens to someone else after a clear pattern of behavior no one identified.
People staying silent are mostly women. Women who receive threats and emotional abuse do not feel safe reporting the behavior. With the ex girlfriend, he SA’ed her and was most likely told if she told anyone, he’d do something worse. All you can do in a situation like that is escape. Ok but why do americans still use the polygraph? It's been proven to not be at all reliable
Such a tragic ending for someone who had such a bright future ahead of her, all at the hands of a monster. No amount of jail time/money will ever bring her back so did her family truly get their justice? I am sure they would trade all that for her to be alive. But at least the perp was found and is serving his punishment for his depraved act. Rest in Peace Annie and wishing her loved ones healing and peace.
RIP! I vividly recall this horrible crime it was so sad and senseless.
This is sickening and tragic. Kudos to the gentleman who shut down those "crime of passion" rumors real fast.
God this is so heartbreaking :(
Heartbreaking, God bless her family.
That's incredibly heartbreaking. I'm just trying to imagine what it'd be like to escape a communist regime, raise your only daughter, see her potential, watch her mature and complete highschool, get accepted into a Yale graduated program, become a respected, loved person amongst her peers...the amount of pride I would feel as a parent only to have all of that wrenched away by some unknown reason. To think, the only person who can at least provide the reason is still sitting in jail, not willing to speak or explain himself. It's infuriating and gutwrenching to think about.
It was heartbroken with closed casket funeral. She was raised by her Auntie which is my cousin and my sister was babysitting Ann when she was young. Ty for the post. May she rest in peace.
We live in a sick society
I know a man who go berserk if the things are put in a wrong way. He was Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. All the canned good , bottles should be facing in front. I cannot cook on the stove. He does it in a microwave. I cannot touch the wall with my hands because it would leave a mark. I went crazy with his rules of orderliness and cleanliness. I think this may be the case of Raymond besides an attraction to Miss Le. Sad. RIP brilliant girl.
Very sad. She seemed like a very nice woman. Certainly did not deserve this :(
@@BlitzedKip420you’re sick
It is so sad that law enforcement agencies, in this case, didn't do their jobs. The law enforcement officer is trying to justify her inaction in investigating this missing person case. She is kidding by saying, "What the chance that something bad happened?"Really!
Super heart breaking! Rest on Annie
Praying for her and the families
