- This past week has been a little tough in the fish barn. Let's talk about how a tree branch almost took all the fish in the fish, how I handled the situation and what the end result was.

Awe Mike I am so sorry for all of your losses. It's great to see that you've got a positive outlook and a plan to move forward with. I guess in a way you're lucky because it really could've been so much worse. IDK. Maybe I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry if that was the wrong thing to say. Anyways, I will add you to my prayer list. I'm glad that you and your family are safe and sound. I wish I could do more to help you. Good luck with everything going forward.
Thanks Cathy, I appreciate it! It's on the up and up. I will have some trees to take down in the spring.
@@FishTankBarn Right. We had a tree fall on home during a bad thunderstorm and that's the first thing that we did. It was early summer when that happened to us so we didn't have to wait. Thank goodness. I wish y'all well. Thanks for all the hard work that you do for us.
Very sorry you ended up loosing fish. It’s never easy for those of us in this hobby.
Really good reminders for all of us in this one. Thanks!!
Thanks TJ! Yeah it was definately a bummer
Thanks for sharing
Your welcome Mark!
Jeesh Mike. I’m so glad it didn’t hit the barn hard. Yours is one of my favourite channels even if you’re not one of the bigger ones.
I’m on the bottom side of the planet where we’re regularly hitting about 88 degrees f in our summer, and have different issues. I do learn from you guys in the northern hemisphere for my seasons ahead. Anyway, thanks for the update.
Thanks Brian! Yeah it kinda sucked but we're getting to the other side of it.
That's sad to lose some fish. I think a couple of propane space heaters left in there for emergencies is the best option and it's good not to have to rely solely on electric, whether it be on-grid or generator, so propane space heaters could be the third emergency option...
Thanks ASMRkiddo, I will definately have to think of some options.
I have a Generac whole house backup generator, had for 9 months, but power has not went off since i bought it
Definately something to consider
@@FishTankBarn yeah, it takes a lot of worries away from me.
Maybe a generator dedicated to the barn sub panel would be good. Or a secondary propane heater on stand by.
Sucks about the losses bud
Thanks! I will definately have to think of some options.
I'm sorry about your loss. I had this problem last Christmas when we lost power for three days. It was a good idea not to open the door. Propane might be a good idea but definitely requires some thought.
Thanks Carole, I will have to think about it for sure.
im sorry for your losses mike i hope that u will bounce back and soon
Thanks, its bouncing back thankfully
@@FishTankBarn your welcome anytime my friends
Sorry for all your losses but I know you got this to make it better.
Thanks Sandy! I will get it figured out
Yikes, i'm in Chicago so i feel your pain. Lemmie ask you how did you keep your tanks warm at all without electricity in the deep cold? I'm assuming the barn was heavily insulated?
The barn was pretty heavily insulated for sure. Not perfect but it's insulated pretty well
I am so sorry all of this happened. How is the insulation in your fish Barn?
Thanks Lisa! The insulation is actually pretty good.
im sure a generac is more expensive, but would it be a better option ?
Might be a better option. I will have to think about it
