After hearing this, I prefer Patty's version over Lyle's. That's what happened when she recorded the beautiful "When Fallen Angels Fly" by Shaver. Both great and meaningful songs. And let's not forget hubby - Emory Gordy Jr - her producer as well. Excellent musician in his own right.

@ollarik Yes, I prefer Patty's to Lyle's and I really like Lyle's. But they're totally different songs. When Lyle sings it you hear bitterness and anger but Patty's singing heartbreak. And Patty's version is musically gorgeous, which I never got from the original. A real eye-opener.
