DJI 4 is still holding perfect on daylight, Ace Pro is the king in almost all cases especially in low light or when there are extreme differences between lowlights and highlights during the day..
Great comparison ! It's subjective but I think the Ace Pro has the best colors and overall pleasing quality. (Even though its 8bit and not 5.3k) Does the Ace Pro have a Horizon leveling option with a wider field of view btw ? Or is it only that horizon lock where it crops quite a bit in the image?
7:22 did it for me. The Action 4 colour seems natural while AcePro seems yellow tinted and too saturated. Just too much shadows in the GoPros. Even the blue color cast on the bldg behind Phillip looks worse on the GoPros.
Very important question: FOV difference between 24/25/30 FPS and 50/60 FPS. How is that on these camera's? Both my Insta ONE RS 1-inch lens and 4K Boost lens, and DJI Action-2, have a FOV difference between lower and higher FPS settings at the same 4K resolution. To me it doesnt make any sense at all to have narrower FOV in 60 then 30 FPS. I want max wide FOV with still 60+ FPS.
The problem I have when recording outside is not being able to tell if the camera is actually recording. The GoPro has three lights on the camera to let you know it's recording. Others I've used have a LITTLE BLUE DOT flashing. Out in the sun you can not see that little blue light. What do the other cameras have to let you know they are in fact recording.
Great video. Both GoPro's have a red-ish tint and little over-saturation which needs to be corrected. I think the Action4 has the most neutral real world look, but also the most lens-flare. Despite I became a fan of Insta360 since I have the ONE RS with 1-inch lens, the AcePro doesnt look that good compared to these other 3. Mostly a tad unsharp overall, ofcourse, only be judged on this video. When I need to choose from these 4 cams it's a fight between the Action4 and Hero13... But haven't seen the low light performance yet. My ONE RS with 1-inch sensor lensmod is awesome in lowlight and high contrast daylight. I also have the DJI Action-2 which is the smallest camera ever which can record in 4K 60 fps (4K 120 even possible), and I don't understand why they don't make such small camera's anymore. It's an incredible achievement and awesome for on-head POV shots, on your nose between your eyes without your own view is getting blocked. See a few of my vids for TruePOV results.
I'm really surprised at what I am seeing. The DJI Action 4 has far more natural looking color everywhere, including skin tone rendering. It also didn't make me quite as nauseous watching the buildings distort in the ultra wide modes as the GoPros did. The GoPros also at times made it look like you were using a motorized gimbal. And the DJI A4 is the only one that didn't make that flamingo go nuclear pink at 5:45. The only negatives I see is that the lens seems to be more susceptible to flare from the Sun however said flair looked more natural with a smaller Sun, whereas the suppression/rendering performed by the other three made the sun huge and rather unsightly. The A4 doesn't win for cloud detail and it tends to lack definition or micro contrast when looking at lines between cobblestones or other similar details. Finally the other "drawback" to the A4 seems to be that it has a wider field of view, which was a pro when you were up close but is not as good when looking at more distant subjects like the kids running away. I didn't really like the Ace Pro for anything, and the colors were overblown.
Hm, after reading some of the comments with everyone favoring the Action 4 it seems that I have a weird taste. They all look very similar, but over all scenes the GoPro Hero 13 looked the best and "sharpest" to me. Especially the slo-mo shot. 08:3508:57 or the initial wide lens 2:27. With the exception of the lower light pictures though 12:3213:02
can you recommend the gopro 13 for travel vlogging? or should i wait for the dji osmo action 5? At the moment i am just using my iphone 15pro and i want to add some to it
WOW vey impressed with Insta360 overall, some situations GoPro 13 ace, some times DJI takes the lead, but overall this Insta360 is the one that "looks" more natural, I was looking for a action can for some time, and waiting for the new GP13. I`ll look more comparatives but now Insta360 is my favorite so far. Thanks for the video Phillip.
I want to buy the ace pro because of its low light performance. I also like the new leica Color profile in the recent update. I only think that the Action 4 has a more natural color profile out of the box. If the new action 5 has also comparable low light performance with its new 40mp lens upgrade I think I Will buy it.
Each camera had shots that I liked more than the others, but I still think I like the Gopro 12/13 in most cases. I felt like in the harsh light the Action 4 really did horrible on your skin but actually looked better in some shots in more fair light or shade. However, I see more detail in the GoPro. I can count the pieces of lint on your shirt and individual beard hairs on the Gopro. The Ace Pro tends to blend or obscure a lot of that detail. The DJI had close details to the GoPro, but I personally think the GoPro took the edge. Honestly the action camera landscape is super competitive right now. In my opinion it's between Gopro and DJI.
Man the ace pro color just looks perfect, not too saturated like the gopro (still does since the beginning). It's clarity is top too, the dji looks great too, but quite as sharp as the others though. Only issue I have with the ace pro, is the fact you can't cover the lens or swap them like the gopro. Unless you guys know of a solution.
ace pro wins for me,but a wait for the new ace pro 2.The most important new features of the Insta360 ACE PRO 2 are: Dual AI chip: This chip improves processing capacity and enables more advanced features such as better image processing and real-time effects. Improved focusing: The camera now offers faster and more accurate focusing, resulting in sharper images even with fast movements. 8K recording at 30 fps: The ACE PRO 2 now supports 8K video recording at a frame rate of 30 frames per second, delivering higher image quality and more details. Enhanced Bluetooth connectivity: The camera has an improved Bluetooth connection, making it easier to connect wireless microphones and other accessories. Accessory compatibility: The camera layout remains consistent with the previous generation, allowing existing accessories and batteries to be reused. These features make the ACE PRO 2 a powerful tool for both professional and amateur video makers.

Color: DJI Exposure changes smoothly: both Ace Pro and DJI Hero’s were obviously abrupt, playing catch up Sun Flare in lens: Ace Pro looks good Stab: seemed good on all Sky in Sun: Hero’s STILL YELLOW! 🤦🏻♂️ Horizon leveling steadiness: Hero’s
The Ace Pro was the only one that was on face exposure, so that could have made a difference, if I put it on matrix it would have kept up with the DJI no problems, it just made sure my face was always well exposed, ignoring the background.
ace pro has little too much "vibrant" colors and sometimes looks that it lost details, because of vibrant colors. And is little to the green (sky with clouds mostly), 8bit is quite disadvantage at least for colorgrading. Hero 13 better color I think, quality very similar. Action 4, good colors, don't do burnouts in high contrast sky vs background but it has very often visible flares and for me the wide lens looks quite ugly, it looks like there is less contrast in darker parts of image, and it has quite big difference between how things are close. Sometimes it looks like "zoomed in" sometimes "zoomed out". Maybe problem with colors and burnouts is that Ace Pro and Gopro has HDR ON. Hero 12 is actually nonsense except the price drop. Some advantage is that gopro released GoProLabs FW some time ago, which have many interesting possibilities. Gopro Advantage is that it is most widespread so there is most accesories for it and has quite long support. Biggest advantage of Action 4 is price and colors, but for action camera I think it is not good idea combination of rectangle body and round lens which go over the body. Actually I use GoPro 8 Black, I don't use mobile video editing. Everything on PC, so don't need any connections. I don't do any "action sports", use it of normal recording, timelapses, slowmotion videos and underwater, almost all videos recorded on flat (protune) so dynamic range is much wider than "normal mode" or "HDR" (and as addition to my Canon 90D). There is no clear winner. Every camera has advantages and disadvantages. For my usage winner most probably GoPro 13, because Insta has 8bit colors and too vibrant colors and burnouts, Action 4 too often visible flares, worst battery and for me little ugly or unexpected video perspective. Price is not that important for me.
Thanks for posting this, very much appreciated! I always go to your channel when I am seeking photography and drone information. I am currently using my mini 4 pro for photogrammetry. I would love to see some content on this topic and best software to use free and commercial.
Thanks for the test! Looking forward for more, i have the Osmo 4 and Gopro 11. The only reason i keep the 11 is the 8:7 aspect ratio, it helps me to reframe some mountain bike shots but other than that i am really curious about the Osmo 5. Dji does it better for colors, it looks more natural.
Action 4 for natural colours and Ace Pro! An overall King. Hate and feel sorry for how Go Pro 12/13 handled all these scenario. Go Pro is out of the elite race for sure
Great video, DJI in good lighting is hands down the best, marginal differences but once that light is not optimal I think we know who the winner will be there ;)
I think all of them have their strengths in daylight. The Ace Pro was the only one that had face detection on, so it wasn't using matrix metering, but rather exposing for my face which is interesting. Yes, when the lights go out, only one can handle the dark with confidence.
also i think the winning point of the ace pro is the 2x zoom without losing quality. The gopro 13 has tooooo many different lenses ... i dont find it practical for an action cam
I think the GoPro cameras are 98% better at handling sky/ cloud shots, they usually were more detailed. Also the sky color looks more natural imo. the action4 and ace pro were more saturated
I don't know why but i find the colours out of the action 4 to be most pleasant and natural for me.What do you think? Maybe I'll wait for action 5 to be released with some new features. Great test an

@@PhillipSkraba why not use the ace pro at 5.7k if your trying to use comparable video quality? kind of biased to not use the best features of each camera to compare video capability.
Gopro 12 & 13 may win over the other cameras when it comes to stabilisation, but Dji wins on color science and overall image quality. That GP HDR looks very artificial.
With Dji .... no place for gopros... Action 4 is ten times better than the new gopro 13. And With Action 5 cant even imagine what will happened to gopros,
Gopro... 😮💨 I was hoping Gopro had something cool but... maybe I'm expecting too much? DJI still looking real good 👍 If they come out with a 1inch that can do both action and vlog, also interchangeable lens, man 🔥🔥🔥
It does! Lenses! The lenses are great! GoPro gave us a lot this year, maybe not a new sensor, but built on the Hero 12 and added a new ecosystem of lenses which are fantastic. No 1" this year, I'm pretty sure of that.
Phillip I like your camera tests and this was another good test. But my god GoPro disappoints with Hero 13. Can't see any difference from Hero 12 to Hero 13. Are they trying to dethrone themselves with Hero 13. Really thought they would come up with something new. The only new thing, slightly better battery time, GPS and new design.
Yes, it's a polished version of the Hero 12 in reality. I think we'll be seeing a lot of that this year in the action camera world, subtle updates rather than huge lunges.
I'm watching this review on a 83 inch oled tv and DJI Action 4 looks the best. GoPro colors looks weird. Something off about color specs. I know that everything can be color graded etc but who got time for that? I rather have nice colors out of the camera and share it as fast as possible.
I think they're all great, but the Action 4 seems to be the only one that makes Lodz look like LA, which is nice, but sometimes seems a little surreal. The sky falls into this turquoise blue, where in reality it's more blue blue.
So disappointing. The best bang for the price is the Hero 10. The new mini Hero with built in battery has no advantages. Hero 13, new battery basically of the same size of the older, but a different charger is disappointing. I bet the image quality of the Hero 13 is hard to tell apart from the Hero 10 (I have the 10 and 11 + dji action 4). Larger sensor, better low light, better user interface like the Action 4 for presets, better water resistance would have made a new model interesting. For my use, mostly when spearfishing, underwater, I do not see any advantages over the Hero 10. I like the field of view, the burst photo mode, high resolution photos, tally light, white balance consistency of the GoPro over the DJI. DJI is better is low light, murky waters, more responsive interface, better battery life than the GoPro. No need to have a new model every year with incremental values. Only advantage is if the older models get good discounts. Insta360 have poor water resistance reliability compared to GoPro and dji.
The Action 5 is rumoured to be sometime late September, but there might be another camera too, so it's worth waiting to see what's dropping. This was a completely neutral comparison between these four cameras, I was interested to see the difference between them.
So the 13 loses to all old models and there is literally no difference between the gopro12 and 13. Why would anyone upgrade if they wanna stick to gopro (im not)

They're all pretty great at daytime, but yes, in low light the Ace Pro does a superb job.
Thank you Phillip for always being fast and on time whenever something new drops ❤
If it's a GoPro, DJI, or Insta360 I'm usually highly interested, so happy to be of service!
@@PhillipSkraba yesss !! Im interested in them too !!
@@elioz99 Well, the Ace Pro 2 is around the corner, and I'm guessing that'll be amazing.
Great comparison !
It's subjective but I think the Ace Pro has the best colors and overall pleasing quality. (Even though its 8bit and not 5.3k)
Does the Ace Pro have a Horizon leveling option with a wider field of view btw ?
Or is it only that horizon lock where it crops quite a bit in the image?
Thanks! It crops in quite a bit when doing 45 and 360 modes. I like the colours too, especially on the new Leica profiles.
Wow,, After watching this video, GoPro13 is amazing, but I'm also looking forward to DJI Action5.
The Hero 13 is amazing, and I love what GoPro did with the lenses this year, great stuff!
In good light, there's very little between them. You can't really go wrong whatever you choose.
Gopro 13 definitely controls the sun flair the best.
7:22 did it for me. The Action 4 colour seems natural while AcePro seems yellow tinted and too saturated. Just too much shadows in the GoPros. Even the blue color cast on the bldg behind Phillip looks worse on the GoPros.
Thanks a lot for this awesome comparison! I like the performance of the Action 4...
Absolutely fabulous test. Thank you, Phillip!
Thank You!
Amazing video!!! I recently bought the Insta360 Ace Pro, and it is doing a great job!
08:35 08:57 or the initial wide lens 2:27. With the exception of the lower light pictures though 12:32 13:02
It’s a little odd, I call bots.
can you recommend the gopro 13 for travel vlogging? or should i wait for the dji osmo action 5?
At the moment i am just using my iphone 15pro and i want to add some to it
I think you should wait for Action 5, its my prasonal opinion.
@@saberacassettecenter thnks for the advise 🙏
The colour image on DJI Action 4 is very presentable in daylight.
Thank You! I'll have more coming soon, including the two new action cameras that will be dropping very soon.
I want to buy the ace pro because of its low light performance. I also like the new leica Color profile in the recent update. I only think that the Action 4 has a more natural color profile out of the box. If the new action 5 has also comparable low light performance with its new 40mp lens upgrade I think I Will buy it.
They’ll both be using the same sensor, just like they did this time. So it’s worth waiting now to see what both companies drop in their new cams.
Unless you guys know of a solution.
ace pro wins for me,but a wait for the new ace pro 2.The most important new features of the Insta360 ACE PRO 2 are:
Dual AI chip: This chip improves processing capacity and enables more advanced features such as better image processing and real-time effects.
Ya, but when is it being released? I need a action camara now lol
@@prophetseven728 one of the following weeks
These are just rumors, probably all made up...
good to be back here for comparisons
Good to have you back!
Dziękuję Filip za cały trud włożony w produkcję tego filmu 🙂😎🙂 Wszystkie kamery są podobne , więc jak to często bywa....cena jest najważniejszym czynnikiem.
Pozdrawiam 🙂🙂🙂
Action 4 best skin for me
It's a choice of many as I can see in the comments.
Action 4 looks incredible. Been using GoPros since the hero 3 but I think ill be switching teams with the action 5 coming
The 13 is nail in the coffin for gopro.
Here in Iceland it's dark, lowlight shines. I use Ace Pro 👍
I love the Ace Pro and can not wait to see what the Ace Pro 2 can do!
Glad I got Ace Pro. It wins
Thanks Phillip, Łódź looks so good in the Ace Pro:)
Ahh, love Lodz.
Color: DJI
Exposure changes smoothly: both Ace Pro and DJI
Hero’s were obviously abrupt, playing catch up
Sun Flare in lens: Ace Pro looks good
Stab: seemed good on all
Sky in Sun: Hero’s STILL YELLOW! 🤦🏻♂️
Horizon leveling steadiness: Hero’s
3:03 You coming on the lens! Relax dude :D
I sometimes catch myself saying stupid shit lol.
came here for gopro hero 13 and stayed for action 4.. Waiting for action 5 pro but overall pocket 3 is better xD
Lol, you guys are DJI Action 5 Pro crazy!
Hate to say it but i think the ace pro is the winner! Gopro is good but its like they taking it to slow, to be honest from 9 to 13 not much changed
Seems that the Action 4 is the best for FPV drones, please try to apply Phantom LUTs on DLOG footage ! These are the best cinematic luts.
Thanks for posting this, very much appreciated!
I always go to your channel when I am seeking photography and drone information.
I am currently using my mini 4 pro for photogrammetry. I would love to see some content on this topic and best software to use free and commercial.
How is the 12 footage better than te 13 o.o, 13 looks overexposed on some of the highlights on your face
Well, in that case the 1:1 on the Hero 13 would really come in handy!
Action 4 for natural colours and Ace Pro! An overall King. Hate and feel sorry for how Go Pro 12/13 handled all these scenario. Go Pro is out of the elite race for sure
hello, sir your video comparison is very nice. I became your fan.
Thank You!
The 2x zoom on the Ace Pro is very good. I like the lenses on the GoPro, I mix between super wide and linear.
21 seconds in and I prefer the Ace pro over the hero 13
It seems like everyone is learning towards the Ace Pro or Action 4.
Thanks so much for all of your content. You're one of the best out there!! 👊 Might go to the gym for some workout and prep...action 5 coming soon!!! 💪
Thank You! Yes, it should be around the corner.
@@PhillipSkraba Yeah, I hope for a Air 3 refresh too....😋
I think the GoPro cameras are 98% better at handling sky/ cloud shots, they usually were more detailed. Also the sky color looks more natural imo. the action4 and ace pro were more saturated
I don't know why but i find the colours out of the action 4 to be most pleasant and natural for me.What do you think?
Maybe I'll wait for action 5 to be released with some new features.
Great test an
I've heard that before, sometimes it feels like a California filter, nice, warm, blues lean into turquoise a little, it's pretty. The Action 5 Pro was teased yesterday with a drop date of 19th Sept. Thanks!
Insta360 ace pro BEST ever 🎉🎉
It's pretty damn good.
@@PhillipSkraba why not use the ace pro at 5.7k if your trying to use comparable video quality? kind of biased to not use the best features of each camera to compare video capability.
The Action 4 colours looked sharper than the Hero 13. Were you using HLG HDR mode on the Hero 13 or not?
They all look extremely good! Tbh at this point is just minor things that the normal people wont use
Gopro 12 & 13 may win over the other cameras when it comes to stabilisation, but Dji wins on color science and overall image quality. That GP HDR looks very artificial.
They all look good. Great testing, and thanks for sharing.
Yes!! They do! Thanks
With Dji .... no place for gopros... Action 4 is ten times better than the new gopro 13. And With Action 5 cant even imagine what will happened to gopros,
Dji 4 wins
It does a good job.
Half way through, i was thinking this was a promo for that Action 4. They're on sale. I may finally get one but...maybe wait for the Action 5??
The Action 5 is rumoured to be sometime late September, but there might be another camera too, so it's worth waiting to see what's dropping. This was a completely neutral comparison between these four cameras, I was interested to see the difference between them.
DJI Action 4 colours are superior.
To me. The DJI is the clear winner. Colour, overall picture and distortion.
It does a good job, that's true.
Hi all! Great video! 💯 I'm on GP 10 now and I want to upgrade. Which one is a better GP 12 or 13?
Hi , really hard to choose , for ur opinion ace pro and go pro 13 which one is best?
What a enjoyable video! thanks for this comparison!! :)
Thank You!
Ace Pro 2 you say, well, I'm looking forward to that! The original Ace Pro is excellent, so I'm guessing IF Insta360 do drop a v2, it'll be a winner.
Really sorry to hear you were born in London, and lived there for 24 years... I'm sure that was very difficult :P
haha, London was awesome in the 80’s.
Action 4 Looks better IMO.
I have to admit… every video I’ve seen, the Hero12 has been better.
thank you so much for this! Could you please do the same for underwater photography??
If I get a chance, sure!
If only action 4 could nail the colors.
The warping on the gopro is intense
It seems there is no perfect action camera, only the right tool for the job.
So the 13 loses to all old models and there is literally no difference between the gopro12 and 13. Why would anyone upgrade if they wanna stick to gopro (im not)
