March 18, 2022 will see the release of melodic rock stalwarts FM's thirteenth studio album, the appropriately titled "Thirteen". Produced by the band, "Thirteen" is yet another high-quality album that furthers the band’s standing as one of the premiere melodic rock entities in the world. Pre-order/save "Thirteen" on CD/LP/Digital HERE: orcd.co/thirteen Signed copies of the album can be pre-ordered from the official band store at the link above or directly at this link: www.fmofficial.com/fmofficial/preorder-thirteen.html The band's current, and longest running, line-up, in place since 2008, has spent the last decade plus writing, recording, and touring and thus is an incredibly gelled and cohesive unit. The rhythm section of bassist Merv Goldsworthy and drummer Pete Jupp anchor FM with a rock-solid backbone, while guitarist Jim Kirkpatrick delivers delicious hooks and melodies with keyboardist Jem Davis adds lush layers to the band's dynamic sound. And what more could be said about Steve "The Voice" Overland, whose golden pipes have easily withstood the test of time and who still sings like an angel, while adding delightful guitar parts to the proceedings. The five-piece once again bonds together as the mighty unit FM on "Thirteen" and delivers beautiful melodic rock that their fans have come to expect. Founded in 1984 when singer Steve Overland and his brother, guitarist Chris (both formerly of Wildlife) teamed up with drummer Pete Jupp (ex-Wildlife and Samson) and bassist Merv Goldsworthy (ex-Diamond Head and Samson), the guys were soon joined by Didge Digital on keyboards and by December of that year they had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait and headed to Germany for a run of dates with Meat Loaf. Further tours with Tina Turner, Foreigner, and Gary Moore built their momentum and on September 8, 1986, FM released their debut album "Indiscreet", which featured the hugely popular single 'Frozen Heart', to great critical acclaim and the year ended on a high with FM supporting the white-hot Bon Jovi on their Slippery When Wet tour. For the next nine years, FM consolidated their position at the forefront of British melodic rock, touring extensively as headliners and also joining bands such as Status Quo and Whitesnake on tours to promote 1989's "Tough It Out", 1991’s "Takin' It To The Streets" (with Andy Barnett on guitar, replacing the now-departed Chris Overland), 1992’s "Aphrodisiac" (featuring Tony 'Slim' Mitman of Romeo's Daughter on keyboards), and what was to be their 'final' album, 1995's "Dead Man's Shoes" with new recruit Jem Davis (Tobruk, UFO) on keyboards. The band would then go on hiatus, until 2007 when, after a 12 year sabbatical, they returned to the stage for a 'one-off' headline performance at a sold-out Firefest IV at Nottingham Rock City. The rapturous reception from the fans at Firefest led to FM quickly making the decision to record a new album and following a return to Firefest in 2009, in March 2010 FM released their much-anticipated sixth studio album "Metropolis" with Jim Kirkpatrick replacing Andy Barnett on lead guitar. And FM hasn't stopped since! Headline tours both in the UK and overseas, special guest slots touring with Foreigner, Journey, Thin Lizzy, and Heart, festival appearances including Download, Planet Rockstock, Sweden Rock, Graspop, Steelhouse Festival, Frontiers Rock Festival, HRH and HRH AOR, Cambridge Rock Festival, and in 2018 their first-ever live show in the US at Melodic Rock Fest 5. When not touring, FM have been busy in the studio and since their 2010 'comeback' album they have released five original albums, a re-recorded version of their debut album, and a few live releases. Tracklist: 1. Shaking The Tree 2. Waiting On Love 3. Talk Is Cheap 4. Turn This Car Around 5. Love And War 6. Long Road Home 7. Be Lucky 8. Every Man Needs A Woman 9. Just Got Started 10. Best new AOR song at the moment to me. Overland has a voice from another planet. At his age, most leads singers cannot even sing but he has a wonderful timbre. World class.
This is why FM is my favourite band. From the opening chords, their music always makes me so happy. Steve Overland has one of the best voices in the world. What makes it even better is that they are lovely blokes, I've chatted with them for hours after gigs. I'd love them to play some of the old Wildlife material live.
Maybe because that's what talent is about! In the 80-th when they and others begun there were no autotune, no time for making zillion tries, no "studio magic" sh*t. Okay - almost no. So you had to have a pure talent and invest lots of hard work to deliver like these gentlemen.
Y'know, sometime in the past day or two, I heard or read a reference to FM (for the life of me, I don't remember where it was...might've been the most recent Something for Nothing podcast ep-126...but who knows)...and my first thought was "who's that?" And now I know. And now I need to know more. Definitely a rabbit hole I need to go down and spend some time exploring their music.
God, I am old I remember their first album way back in the 80,s and still sounding fantastic as ever, greetings from Northern Ireland guys, keep rocking 🇬🇧🤘🤘
In a world of musical mediocrity and under-delivery, FM shoot for the moon and hit the stars again. I’ve enjoyed their music for over 30 years and it just keeps on coming. Steve and the boys deliver another fine rendering and if this is anything to go by, then the album will follow suit. Everyone sounds great on this track and I especially like the drum production. Pete Jupp is such a solid player - very underrated in my view. He and Merv are probably one of the tightest rhythm sections in the business. Please bring the band to New Zealand.
Legends!! Steve is a friend and you have to ask what a voice this modern stuff by other bands are shadows compared to bands like fm, fm, dare, magnum … can’t wait for this album as I love the production on this song
Waiting On Love Is An Awesome Great Straight Up Rock N Roll Song By FM And Totally Rocks It Needs To Be Fully Cranked Up All The Way To Full Maximum Volume.
Class act through and through. So much respect for these guys. Major label control of the markets shielded me from them back in the day. Glad I was finally able to discover them. Cheers
Total class. Always. Just like the latest Groundbreaker album ‘Soul To Soul’ on this label. Steve’s voice is the usual ‘blow your mind’ quality. I’m devouring that album before this new release. Bring it on.
seriously I left this on loop for I think more than 24 hours. I am either totally insane or this has to be one of the best songs ever. I may need Love therapy. Hart

Agree wholeheartedly. Wildlife? Did you mean Wildside?
@@blacksunshine7485 No, Wildlife was the band Steve and Chris Overland, with Pete Jupp, were in before FM.
@@jakegodfrey4320 I had no idea! Thanks for the info. Going to try and find that 👍
It is amazing how he can sing like that at his age. Very warm voice, big control and huge register.
Gotta love this band❤️🎶
Yeah, some singers even seem to be getting better with age!
His voice has aged wonderfully!

Awesome warm welcome back from Britains AOR Gods
Still Have Your Album CD's, Some Cassettes, Merch & Hat Too. Worth Buying.
These guys never fail. They actually succeed in that rare feat of a band getting better with age. Magic every time. Bloody wizards.
Been listening to this band since the Tough it Out days, just keep getting better
FM still has it. Steve still has a fantastic voice. One of the best vocalists in the AOR genre.
An absolutely classic Overland vocal...
