The WORST Value at Harbor Freight | Chicago Electric 20 Amp Plasma Cutter
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- Unfortunately not all new tools at Harbor Freight are a great value, and that is true with the Chicago Electric 20 Amp Plasma cutter. Does a basic low powered machine warrant the price tag with all the other options currently available?
Don't have buyer's remorse by purchasing this plasma cutter, make sure you shop around for the best value if you are looking to purchase a plasma cutter.

Thanks for the heads up. I almost bought it on sale for $329, and I think they're just counting on someone like me that is just getting into it and don't know much about plasma cutters and it seems like a great deal until someone like you shows us there are better options for reasonable or even cheaper prices out there. Thanks again for the video, very informative 👍
Anytime, thanks for watching!
Thank you! I've been wanting to get a cheap plasma for doing small jobs. Now I know to stay away from the HFs! Cheers mate!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching!
I've never had any plasma cutters from harbor freight but I do have a titanium flux core welder, the smallest one they have and that thing has been excellent... I've had it about 4 years and have welded absolutely everything with it.. it'll actually run on a 2200 watt generator and work well.. of course titanium is made by Lincoln and Miller as a conjoined effort..
Thank you, I almost bought the harbor freight one,tha k you soooo much,I'm going for the Amazon one.
Right on brother. Check out the Best Arc unit I just reviewed
Lots of good info and Showing us where to buy them. Thank you !!!
It looks like Harbor freight has recently started dropping the price on these and putting them on sale at more appropriate prices, although still higher than other options.
Glad this popped into my feed. Just subscribed. Thanks for the heads up!
Appreciate you taking the time to watch, thanks for subscribing!
extremely helpful video. Was about to buy the chicago electric, then found this video. Thank you !
Glad it helped brother 🤙. Thanks for watching
Great video! I’m going to go with one of the alternatives you mentioned. Better pricing and lowered requirements for air pressure and cfm. The Chicago Electric requires 110psi at 5cfm which is a hefty air compressor I don’t have.
Check out the Best Arc! ua-cam.com/video/Al1pE9WqENA/v-deo.htmlsi=uOTJeVJcEDOXpXD9
Thank you for clearing some things up. I am stuck with only having 20amp power source. But I do want the no touch plasma cutter
Glad I could help!
So glad I got BestArc Pilot Arc BTC500DP 7th Generation and not that Chicago brick!
Thanks brother,
Saved me time and money and awesome recommendations.
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I like prime weld, Everlast, and yes equipment...they stand by the customer..great service...
Love this video put it in my cart right after watching
Right on brother
I got a 50 amp off Amazon for 199
There are some great deals right now on plasma cutters!
The Forney 20amp plasma cutter at home Depot is nice too 🤔
I don't doubt that it works well, but it is about the same as this Chicago Electric cutter. You can get way more for your money elsewhere. Everything is personal preference of course! Thanks for watching!
Sadly I bought one of these , now I’ve got to a return and lose the 20% restock fee . 🤬
You sir, have done us a solid!!
It really isn’t a good buy. Thanks for watching!
Great info......This will help someone out...
Thanks man, I think I am going to make a guide on portable cutting tools for scrapping soon!
what about after a 25% off coupon? it comes out to $225 before tax.
Still not a good buy. You can get a 50 amp no touch cutter for around $200 all day on Amazon.
@@GarageHobbyist thanks for the reply
Given the price of the TIPS ALONE, the cheap price of the rig will soon be OBLIVIATED by what we've spent in replacement tips.
This Phenomena (Na na, na na na!) is why I'm going to get a traditional Stick Welder, and not a TIG. For what I'm doing, I just can't justify the $350~ish for a bottle of Argon. Now, anyway.
Absolutely. The consumables on that machine are insane!
@@GarageHobbyist Your video actually taught me that there ARE two different types of Plasma Cutters, contact and non-contact. Mind, I never really shopped for a Plasma Cutter before.
TIG and MIG are actually "New Tech" to me... I grew up with a Stick up my Stinger.
Looking forward to getting into both of those, SOME day. If I can ever afford Welding as a Hobby.
@@TimeSurfer206 there are actually at least three types of plasma cutters. You have contact tips like the one here, and then you have a high frequency pilot arc like many of the no touch cutters, then there are blow back no touch cutters. There may be more, but those are what I am familiar with.
Blowback cutters are typically beneficial in cnc table set ups
@@GarageHobbyist Thank you!
Am I correct in thinking the "Blowback" is designed to keep us from getting a face full of Spray when we're working on a workbench?
@@TimeSurfer206 No, blowback is a low frequency start option. Most cheaper pilot arc plasma cutters are high frequency start much like a TIG welder with that feature. High frequency start can cause issues with electronics, like CNC Tables. Blowback start uses different mechanics to initiate a pilot arc that results in a lower frequency, and less chance of interference with other electronics in the area.
Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazon is a joke
I've had pretty good luck with my purchases
@@GarageHobbyist good for you 👍
Have to know how to use one first, boi
@@milekh6681 I've gotten more than you'll ever know kid
