2023 was an amazing year for TW. They've been invited to play Wacken Open Air 2024 which sold out 6 months in advance!. 2024 is going to be epic for the three sisters from Mexico! ⚡
I don’t remember if it was on the Tidal Rising or Mayday in the making documentary that DPA were talking about how EVOLVE was created. Usually Pau starts the songs on piano then later all 3 of them finish the songs together, but in this case they said Dany and Ale were creating the guitar riff and bass line in their home studio and then Pau arrived and liked a lot what she heard and told them she was going to write a melody and lyrics to finish the song. Now you can see and listen the result, one of the best TW tracks!
Dany really showcased her distortion in this performance and she did it in a tasteful manner. Ale was mic’d much better for both this and More and her backing vocals were outstanding to go along with delivering the awesome bass riffs. Pau just owned the crowd. When Pau makes a suggestion, you simply listen in addition to paying attention to her beautiful work on her kit.
Love this performance. I think them playing this and More at this MTV event was to show their range in styles. They can go what may be considered pop rock to full on hard rock/ metal 🤟🏽
A pro band should be able to play their encore in one take -- they're performing it every night out. But they took a blowtorch to the place. That crowd knew that you dare not disobey Gen. Pau!
This song is like a freight train. It rolls in, crushes all competition and rolls out. It´s the song where they all go full rock star mode and give everything they have! This performance outshines the performance in Mexico 2022 and I think it marked the point where TW realized they now have made it in to the big league with MTV VMA. They took it even further at their following concerts at the Pepsi Center and when they where back home for their final leg of their 2023 World tour. And they presented two new songs SICK and HYCAD (Hell you call a dream), that makes every fan eagerly await the release of their new album which is coming very soon I think. But the standard are very high now both in the performance as in Dany´s singing. She excels in HYCAD! Great reaction!

I'm not sure what MTV was thinking to feature an up and coming band that wasn't nominated for anything, but I think it's irrefutable that The Warning were the overall winners here. They've gotten and continue to get tons of exposure from the two songs they played and made a big impression on the other industry people. They got a lot of attention from the fashion end of the event, just like any awards show. When they enter a room heads turn. And they got to show once again how great they are for interviewers to talk to and how easy to work with they are. Tons of people that didn't know them before definitely do now.
It doesn't matter how many times and places you've heard them perform this song. The one from Teatro Metropolitan is 11 on a 1 - 10 scale, But the VMAs is probably a 15. I think that Choke is probably slightly better known to a wider cross section of people. Certainly it has gotten more radio play than Evolve, so I hear. But regardless, Evolve is my favorite.
The breakdown and scream literaly bring tears of joy to my eyes in this performance - each time. I think as a 40+ man I can finally grasp how the screaming teenies in the 90s felt when their favorite boy band performed 😂

Agree their September 2023 MTV performance may be their best live Evolve!. Ale brought out her custom Spector NS-5XL bass "Ale's Inferno" for this special occasion. She has been leaving it at home, playing her back up instead, a stunning blue Spector NS-5XL. Ale's Inferno is now 4 years old and is a one of a kind piece of art, great to see and hear her play it again!🤯
@@Burnout_AU You're right. I got 2015 confused with her age (15) when she designed the bass with Spector. She received it in 2020 so she's had it for about 4 years.
They certainly caught the attention of VMA producers who literally were caught off guard by their performance. Cudos to their label Lava/Republic Records who im sure is pleased as well, not to mention the envy from other labels this performance generated.
When they released EVOLVE a a single I don't believe it charted at all. CHOKE appeared on the charts and MONEY charted in Canada. But EVOLVE became a crowd favorite at concerts because the live version is dramatically better than the studio version, IMHO.

Apparently the guy in front singing along started out in the back and yelled out “Happy Dany Day” (it was a Friday). Dany responded by having him brought up front. Looks like two or three of his friends came along. I saw a thumbnail for him explaining how it happened, but haven’t been able to find it. Maybe someone with better search technique can do so and post a link. Anyway, love your enthusiasm, it’s well warranted. I agree with your comments about Pau and the crowd. She was in complete control. Someone else said she looked like a predator on the hunt. Yup.

this was such a huge and powerful exhibition they gave with the short time they were given... they performed two songs, *More* (done first) and this one, *Evolve* which is certainly a fan favorite... Pau, the drummer, came up with *Evolve* after watching a documentary about evolution and gene manipulation... this isn't the first time she has drawn inspiration from a TV show or movie, either... i understand that MTV is still looking for their roof LOL i'm quite proud and happy for DPA/TW for making these milestone appearances at two MTV functions, the MIAW in CDMX (back in Aug 2023) and the VMAs in NY&NJ (Extended Stage) (in Sep 2023)... three additional milestones are 1) they are the first Mexican band to perform at the VMAs, and 2) they were invited to perform, and 3) they were not nominated for anything... that speaks volumes in a great and huge way! now add to that they have been doing this for 10 years and, right now, most of that was while independent... i would also be remiss if i didn't mention that this performance was real unlike the other groups that also performed here... DPA/TW did both of their songs fully live and in one take while the others lip synced and took all three takes of which the ""best"" was selected for airplay... DPA/TW were also the only ones to be announced on the main stage when it was time to present their performance... watch Pau closely... you can see her preparing herself, taking a deep breath, shaking her head, and firing her "Scream of Evolution" toward the heavens releasing all of her frustrations and pain so she can *Evolve* and grow past them 😜... she has described it in similar fashion and brings it for real each and every time they present this hard rocking power ballad in concert or live sessions... Pau has also stated that playing here on this stage was a very surreal moment... the stage was very much like the stage in the game Rock Band... i can easily see that they might have felt as if they had been transported into the game... i'm sure they imagined similar when they were playing the game as children and just beginning to find their path in life... Can't help thinking, the Lava Records people must be SO pleased with this performance by DPA, though as po'd as i am about how MTV used them.

Maneskin is not rock, they sound like Ultravox a synth group from the eighties.
