2012 Mercedes CLS550 Cold Start Exhaust Mods (M278 muffler resonator delete)

Mostly idle, and a few short revs at 2:19
2012 Mercedes Benz CLS550 4Matic cold start, with stage 1 tune, muffler deletes, resonator replaced with X-Pipe.
M278 Engine, also found in S550, E550, SL550, etc... 4.7l twin turbo engine.

Hey there from Fitchburg, will this pass the mass inspection? Thinking about this for my GL550. And can you leave it without tuning?

What did you do the suspension? I don’t trust some of the lowering links I see online

@@ryeann3 this is a lowering link set (ghost links) which sets the baseline to slightly lower, then also a lowering module (lomo v1 I believe) which lets you adjust the height thru the steering wheel, integrated into the speedometer display. I’d recommend the Lomo v1.

Hay man! I got the same car. I like how it sounds, but I am worried about being to noisy on highway ad getting on my nerve during a long trip. did you have that issue?

No drone at all at highway speeds when in 7th or 6th gear (2000-2500 rpm)

I got the same set up with you, without the tune, the noise is def not enough for a V8 car, I am thinking to get a dp in the near future, what do you think?

Personally, I think the sound is fantastic with the deleted components + tune. I imagine the tune helps with the sound a bit, as it rips through the rev range slightly faster. The downpipe would make some impressive gains. Can't go wrong with either, but I do HIGHLY suggest a tune, these engines are just holding tons of power. Like +100whp +100 ftlbs for ~$1300, its incredible value.
