110 snaps. 8 sacks. That is beyond insane. Hutch had 1.5 more in nearly 9 times that, to put that in perspective. If he gets his run stopping and coverage up to NFL standard, or hell, shifts to a full-time EDGE, look out.
Even if he just remains a third-down pass rush specialist, he is SO DAMN GOOD at that thing that he is going to have a place in the league for a very long time.
@@thomasknapp6434fr.. he’s got so much power. A few of those sacks were just him simply drilling the Linemen into the Qb with just sheer strength. He’s gonna be a huge problem for defenses
It’s different. The bend and speed are like nothing I have seen. It’s a bit of a problem. Tyree, will, Nolan or this McDonald kid from Iowa state: the y will never rush the passer like this guy. I don’t know his measurable. He plays fast. He probably has a high iq, he sees it and he has the talent to execute. The lions r finding talent where it’s tough to find. I love Tyree, but he won’t be there at 6. I won’t thumb my nose at jalen carter.
@@chevy4x466 To be able to get THAT low to the ground without sacrificing ANY speed... you just don't see that. To have that sort of speed, that sort of burst, and be able to drop your center of gravity that far down? The number of OTs that could reliably neutralize that could probably be counted on one hand.
@@thomasknapp6434 yup, believe me, every team has now scouted this guy. He better have an inside counter move, or tackles with long arms will push him down and dare the ref to throw a flag. Not likely in green bay. I have never seen an edge like this. Jared Allen, Mack , this dude can do it. No one can bend an edge like him.
When you can get THAT low and maintain momentum, there aren't too many O-Linemen in the NFL that are going to be able to hold their ground. That center of gravity and that strength is just a nightmare combination.
Dude is the most underrated unappreciated guy on the team. Everyone wanted an edge in the draft and we got two Stud. Let the man play every game he would of had double digit sacks.
If not for Houstons unfortunate injury, our defense would have looked so much different this season & might have put us into the SB. I really think if he comes back healthy & has a season like his rookie year, we hoist the Lombardi trophy this season.
The move he uses at 0:46 is so rare to see let alone accomplish on nfl lineman, matched with being undersized and having that strength to push back into a QB is insane!
I really do enjoy watching this guy play, and he's been an unbelievable addition for the Lions. Their defense has a lot of potential to be great this year, but I have a nagging feeling that we will not have the same luck with avoiding injuries that we enjoyed last year, especially if the Lions make it to the postseason like I hope they will. This season will be a great litmus test for the Lions depth at the defensive line.
It’s one thing to have some guys on the DL who are SUPPOSED to apply pressure, but seeing dudes like 59 ACTUALLY causing havoc in the backfield is a beautiful thing
He said Deion was disrespecting him for moving him to outside linebacker because he felt he was much useable in the middle well look at him now had 16 sacks his senior yr at JSU had 8.5 his rookie yr in Detroit look how it all played out
I cant wait till they expand his role, drop him in cov, spy the qb, with as good as rushing the passer as he is they can really disguise what he'll do on any given play. I hope he keeps this up and doesnt get figured out and hit a sophomore slump
In pass rush maybe but hutch has more run production than him, that's why I believe he's only put on 3rd downs for now. He's an incredible pass rusher tho I won't doubt if he had 17 games he could've passed hutch in sacks
Detroit, we got da PROBLEM
Who is here after the Lions activated him right before the Divisional Round against the Buccs?
The lions defensive turn around started when Da problem started getting his reps
Da Problem started getting snaps in week 9? Pretty sure it was week 12.
@@kenmcwise1776 ikr people just be talking lol
Now imagine we get the best CB in the nfl draft and more pieces on the defense and we’ll be even better
Absolute steal🔥
All credit to Brad Holmes baby lol he he he he yeah
LETS GO JAMES. WELCOME TO THE NFL

Deion would be so proud of this kid flashing in MoTown
He might be the sack artist we never had...Hutch has value all over the field but this guy might be a 15 + sacks edge rusher

I honestly thought after Buffalo he wouldn't be able to keep it up because teams would figure him out. NOPE.
@@matthewrowley1514 Week after week, even once we started winning games, I was sure teams were going to figure him out. Nope. He's a monster.
That 3rd sack on Fields says so much more than anyone of these clips. Dude just explodes after him, he’s gonna be special
There’s a reason he’s called the problem, he’s a problem for scrambling QB’s
That karate chop from behind Fields was flawless
I❤James Houston 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Detroit lions are better than ever
That BEND in the edge is ELITE! No wonder he had so many sacks
He’s back!
Welcome back big dawg 🦁
“Gonna get hit, gonna go down!” Music to my ears.💯🔥🔥
Hopefully he keeps that same energy
I don’t care if he gets any better just as long as he doesn’t lose a step, he’l be a HOF Sack Man. Pac-man. Gobbling 🆙 QBs!
The way he bull rushed left tackle to fall on Fields shows he has more then just bends and moves! He will be a force in 23
Reminds me of Von Miller with how low he gets around the edge. And he’s only going to get better
I didn’t wanna say it but he reminds me of Von as well
That delayed step is a thing of beauty. I know everyone mentions it but he’s hitting all of these sacks sooo low! Such a dynamic player! #OnePride🦁
He our best player on the line
My favorite of those plays is the one where he drives the tackle into the quarterback which is very impressive from undersize pass rusher

Sack against jag's was my all-time favorite 😳😍
That little bunny hop getting around the edge was what got me
It used to be mine as well but the one where he used the Bears' left tackle to sack Justin Fields... that was something
@@tbdmusic3063 bull rush as well
he is so damn fast and violent. ugh. he's what I wished Kyle Van Noy would have been. Love this kid.
LET'S GOOOOOOO

We all forget what a menace that kid was. Can't wait to get you back James!
That sack on Trevor Lawrence was all Skill and Determination no technique wow 🤩
My favorite Detroit Lions player
2:00: Lawrence Taylor did this-run full speed with his ear hole three feet off the ground around a defender.
Holy low to the ground on most of these! Like a shark in the water that smells the blood.
So much fun, thank you Mr. Houston!
Glad to see his contract tendered. Hope to see him by this season
Welcome back, James Houston IV. Let's show Mayfield what you're made of on Sunday, One Pride !!!🦁
prime did a good job moving him from lb to the edge
This guy is a product of coach PRIME TIME Sanders # GREATNESS
DA PROBLEM!!!
James Houston championship game LFG!!!!!
This is how you rebuild. Late round picks who contribute and play like first round picks.
We need you.
Man I can’t wait to get this back!
If he comes back for the NFC title game that would be so huge.. Hutch would be even scarier too and getting Purdy uncomfortable is key
Favorite rookie this year
I need to see Houston and Houchenson get majority of snaps at edge
Rewatching this to get hype for his first 2024 playoff appearance! #golions #houstondaproblem

Is this what Fields meant when he said some of the Lions “play dirty”? If he comes back healthy, in 2024, this team wins the NFC.
And this man was a 5th or 6th round draft pick? Lions got a diamond in the rough

HUNGRY and unrelenting player with quick twitch off the snap and ill intent when it comes to QBs.
The Future is Now!
Bucs gonna lose
I still can’t get over that hesi he pulled against Jacksonville
I think if Houston played the whole season he would have won DROY
His sacks all look like they hurt for some reason
His sack on TLaw was ridiculous. He got so low on his dip but never lost balance. Opposing QBs are going to have problems next year!
James the snake Houston. Sliming his way through theyre and striking like a anaconda I can watch this guy all day
