3:15 where is the second part mentioned??? I LOVE this video and have seen it at least 5 times. Life-changing information and packaged in a very target-friendly way
this video has changed my understanding of chess and initiative. I was previously one of the people you mentioned who wouldn't even consider e5 because it would give up the d5 square. Now it's so obvious to me that a pawn advance like this brings so many advantages and gives you the initiative that the weakening of the d5 square is not important.
1st game is super instructive. I’m over 2000 chesscom and wouldn’t have played e5 there as my top 3 candidate moves for exactly your reasons. Love that Qe2>Qe4 idea. I think GMs crushing lower rated players is often far more instructive than trying to follow the depth of a match between 2 GMs
Awesome content as always. The number of videos out there that are made for players without an attention span is way way too high and you consistently bring me the content I want.
Thanks, Coach, I am involved in a correspondence game right now that is sort of shaping up in this same way, and the action is about to commence. Your Chess Basics: Opening Strategy course has been a HUGE help for this adult beginner. 👍
@@ChessCoachAndras I sure will! I got your 1.d4 for club players, and The Amateur's Mind courses, too. Really looking forward to following your coaching as I pursue my chess goals.
I hate to just say "me too", but . . . me, too! I play 1 d4, I see a lot of QG, and I never know how to punish slow/weak play by back. This is terrific!
@@ChessCoachAndras yes, but I haven't checked it out yet. Looks interesting, but the thing is I already have quite many lines researched (before finding your videos) and I'm happy with them so not in the market for upgrading my repertoire yet. But I can see the structures in this video and also things like whether to push e5 happening in a lot of my game
I’m 3 minutes into a 15 minute video. As usual with Coach Andras I’m thinking “£#%¥, why couldn’t I have had these videos before I started OTB tournaments?!?”
Thanks for the videos! I'm pretty new to chess but one thing I struggle with is early attacks (Ruy Lopez, Fried Liver, Various traps, etc.) while I'm trying to follow good opening principles. Instead of controlling the center, developing minor pieces, castling, etc - I'm forced to defend against these early attacks or counter-attack and it throws all my opening principles out of whack. And I often find myself in positions I don't like. Any advice on how to handle these sorts of attacks....and maintain good opening principles? I'm sub-1000 rating.
In the second example my first thought was d5 exd e5 Nd7 e6 sacking both central pawns but kind of making all black army look dumb, in my experience it's pretty good if the light-squared bish has already left the c8-h3 diagonal. Dxc Bxc e5 is still quite cool nevertheless
what do you think of Be2 dxc4 a4? I know shankland reccomends that in some slav positions and it seems quite comfortable and comes with some great plans (b3 Ba3 trading the DSBs and we should be positionally in good shape). It's a different kind of position is tricky to play, but black is totally paralyzed, no good pawn breaks at all
Will there be any UA-cam uploads of the semi-slav masterclass from the stream? It’s an opening that baffles me from both sides so I would love to learn more

Great video! I play a lot of 1D4 and Queen's gambit. Love the attacking ideas, punishing less than great play by black.

Amazing Video, i often get the Center with e4 & d4 and then don't know what to do next
Glad it was helpful!

Great content
If the person playing the last game said they saw Rxc4, why didn't they play it? This sounds like what the kids call COPIUM
The road to perfection is paved with pitfalls….
I saw Rc4, I just didn't like it..😂
This emphasizes the importance of early Nbd7 if nothing else
