Perry McCarty works (or did work) for the San Diego school district, had cut his hair, let it go gray and was only singing in a local cover band with a bassist friend of mine. He and Joe Floyd got the band together to record the last album "Ancient Future" back in 1998 - it is a killer album. Joe Floyd and Perry are the only original members left.
If I had a singer like Perry I sure as hell wouldn't be lazy in writing music. 13 years between albums? Strike when the fires hot and defenders is a masterpiece. Should have heard more great albums by them.
Tommy Asakawa was the guitarist with Joe Floyd. I saw these guys open up for Loudness in San Diego. They were the next Queensryche. Such good memories!
was in a band in Sacramento, '83, just before this record came out, with bassist Bruce Turgon. we were called "White Lies'. good band. Jeff Northrup on Guitar, myself on Drums, John McIntyre ( from C.P. Krunt) also on guitar. did 2 gigs ( Oasis Ballroom) before disbanding. Bruce went back to L.A. and some months later, this band came back to the Oasis to play. heavy shit back then.... Perry McCarthy singing.
Wow.....with the great Bruce Turgon? How cool your life has been!! I liked Turgon's work with Gramm, Shadow King, solo work. And this Mc Carty dude has got or had some incredible pipes.
@gmlasam My brother was the bassist in the orig. band; he was kicked out and replaced by the Producer's son. That's showbiz. The drummer (only in LA) had a sex change and became a hot girl. Joe Floyd wasn't the guitarist's real name. I knew him when he was Joe El-Kaddam ( I think that's how it was spelled...something like that) in San Diego and they were just starting out and had a moving business to get them through those gigless days. It was a nice ride, but too short and tragic, somewhat.
Used to be in a band in '83...( just a bit before this group emerged) with Bruce Turgon...bassist of Warrior when they came out...and is in the Video...and on the Record. group was called 'White Lies'...out of Sacramento. we did 'two gigs'...if memory serves...before disbanding. JK Northrup and myself, Bruce, Kent Harvey, and John McIntyre ( R.I.P) ...made up the outfit. all original...and we played the Oasis ballroom in 'I" street...those two times. a year or so later...Bruce was doing Steve Stevens 'Atomic Playboys...then joined up with Warrior. Wow....heady days...those 80's were. (i'm Glenn...the Drummer from Northrup, Singapore, and....just prior... 'White Lies'. lol!)
Man this brings back memories. I first saw Warrior back in 85 at the Hollywood Palladium. Warrior was opening up for Loudness. From this video, it looks like the singer is the only original member. There was a Japanese Guitar player as I recall. I think Warror disbanded and then later named PTM.
Damn!!!!!!! We probably saw eachother before the show. Man, those were great times when the L. A. Metal scene was happening. The scene in LA now sucks...big time.
Anyone have any info on an LA 80’s band named rook? Lead singer was Jessie J Rivas. Don’t recall the name of their record (I think they only had one) but some really good music on it. Sure would like to find that record.
I have been listening to this song since it's release in 1985 and nobody and I mean nobody has ever included what is said before the lead in the lyrics and other than the first two words are probably Evil Slaves all the rest sounds like gibberish - and the effects don't help.... very frustrating!
Amazing voice - horrible stage presence, Such a shame he never acquired it from years of touring the band should have had. He's acting like he's a fan they pulled up onto the stage to sing the song.
One of my all time favorite 80's metal band.
I really liked Warrior in the 80's. They still sound great in 2009. I wish I could have been there.

Kevin Richards RPM Vocal Studio killer album also the code of life is super !!
Je n’ai jamais compris pourquoi cet excellent groupe n’a jamais eu le succès qu’il aurait mérité….

The "Japanese" guitarist was Reggie Wu from Heaven's Edge (I think). Incredible talent all around.

deckerdf. Yes, been driving me nuts ever since.
I guess he couldn't hit the high "Destroy!" vocal note anymore.
Amazing voice - horrible stage presence, Such a shame he never acquired it from years of touring the band should have had. He's acting like he's a fan they pulled up onto the stage to sing the song.
Five years between this and your first comment. What's the background story?
