  • After what I thought was going to be a normal day offroad, I managed to snap an axle in one of the best spots on Double Sammy in Sand Hollow, UT. Then spent the next couple hours getting towed out by several jeeps to safety and then changed my axle in a parking lot.

    Torque twist…in solid axles you can do this as well. On my g wagen I use to compete in, it was always the short front 1/2 shaft that would snap. For more controlled ascent I suggest you try and get a rear locker. Ifs usually break the cv..with the larger tyres it’s taking up more torque stress in the shaft now..but spinning wheels that are jumping then get grip when your not moving gives the shaft immense stress. Be careful going for larger dia shafts..it will transfer the load somewhere weaker.

    Hey, nice video, looks really nice place to take cayenne out. My thoughts on the axle is: car weighs a lot more then stock, and I think also bigger wheels/tires are the cuz as well. I think if someone can come out with stronger axle, that might do the trick but then breakage might go inside the engine and tyranny so I'll take broken axles over anything else 😂😂!

    • @HarrisonSchoen
      @HarrisonSchoen  2 роки тому +1

      hahaha, I'm thinking I may have some beefier axles made soon!

    • @DarkWarjo
      @DarkWarjo 2 роки тому +1

      That's actually solid thinking, too strong axle might just move the hurt somewhere way more expensive, like the tranny indeed.
