There are three designers that I purchase every collection they release - Joanna Figueroa, Sherri and Chelsi and Lori Holt. I love Portofino, reminds me a bit of Hazel and Plum. I love Joanna’s design mind. This new book looks packed. Between this book and Lori’s upcoming book in November; I’ll be busy until the year 2100 😂
Interesting conversation about empty testers. When my oldest went off to college ( 6 hours away) I was fine, he was ready, responsible and it felt good. When you youngest went to college, I was a basket case. I cried all the way home. Missed him terribly and couldn't wait to go back and see him at the 6 week point. Everyone has such a different reaction. Kimberly we do survive somehow.
I'm a mom of 5. The first child to leave home is hard. After that, not nearly as hard. It is good to remember that they are so much more excited to leave home and they miss us less than we miss them.
Sew much fun! Joanna is one of my most favorite designers, and I love everything Fig Tree. Thanks for so much Fig Tree goodness! Can’t wait to start sampler sewing! ❤
Great video; thanks, Joanna, for getting up early. So many great things gleaned from this. Lots and lots of inspiration. I’m still working outside of quilting so I can o my dream of being fully immersed.
This was a fun one! I have only been making quilts for a little over a year now so I'm not as familiar with all the different designers but I recently found Joanna's fabrics and I just love them! It was great to get to see her and listen to her story and hear about her process for designing. And the interactions between Kimberly and Joanna were fun too.
Joanna had been a staple at our quilt shop here until they closed. She is one amazing creative individual and her fabrics are always beyond beautiful. First came fat quarters. She had wonderful classes.
I wasn't going to make this quilt because I have so many other projects until I saw this show. I caught the bug! it gorgeous! I just bought everything. Thank you Kimberly and Joanna for such a great show. I have been sewing with Joanna's fabrics since the 90s.
I absolutely love Joanna Figueroa, she has the cutest personality. Because of your beautiful friendship the show was so fun. Loved loved loved all the gorgeous quilts and of course I what to make them all. It was the perfect example of “do what works best for your brain.” Thank you FQS for all things Fig Tree Quilts. 💚❤️💛
This was such a great show. I just love everything about it! Having sent 2 children to college my advice is that the first month will be rough, but then you go for parents weekend and they come home for fall break and thanksgiving and then all of a sudden it's Christmas and it seems to have gone by way to fast. Buckle up, you got this Kimberly ❤️
That RED DOT!!! I had no clue!! I couldn't figure out why some of my cans used all the spray and some I couldn't empty. Best kept secret!! Enjoyed getting to know Joanna!
What a fantastic live stream! I fell in love with Fig Tree fabrics way back in the day with Cinnamon Stars and have enjoyed working with Joanna's fabrics and designs ever since. Thanks for sharing Joanna's career journey and current collections. Can't wait to start the Bow Tie SAL.
Thank you so much for featuring my favorite fabric designer of all time. One of my first quilts was made with Joanna's Chestnut Street, and I have used many of her collections ever since..
I think the criss cross pattern and/or pillow would be super cute if you made it in an assortment of Christmas greens, Christmas backgrounds and Christmas reds. Then it would look like holly leaves with red berries! 🎄
Our ancestor, Susannah Cleland Weaver made a quilt in about 1846 which ended up going West to Oregon. It had the flying geese in the design which was thought to signify the migration of her family. to parts unknown, I dream of doing a replica, but am not skilled enough. After getting to Oregon they later lost three small children in a river crossing when the wagon fell apart in the swirling water. The quilt is now owned by a museum, but was on the cover of a book, Quilts of the Oregon Trail. Since learning of the quilt I have never looked at flying geese the same!
What a fun chat today! I loved the two of you together. I learned so much. Most importantly.. for years it was maddening that I would get to the bottom of my spray starch and it wouldn’t come out anymore. I could feel there was still more left, but it wouldn’t come out. Where in the heck does it say; turn the nozzle to the red….🤨 Oh the money I have wasted. Thank you!!!!!!
I missed the 7:00am beginning so I went back to the reply and saw the sampler quilt. I think this is the best sampler pattern I have seen. Wonderful. Now I understand why the big yellow discussion. I am not a yellow fan. I'm just not comfortable with it, but I do understand why she uses it. Thank you so much for this presentation. I really have to get this book
I cried when I left my daughter at college. I realized she left something in the car 5 mins into my ride back and turned around to bring it to her, and found her in her room crying. Broke my heart.
We sent our son off The U (University of Utah) #goutes last August. It was hard. We all cried. But he’s in the Marching Utes (tenor sax) and my husband and I went to several football games and did the tailgating thing and made new friends and it was a lot of fun! It made it easier on us for our son to be so far away. Now he’s home for the summer and it’s a little weird having him home again 😂 But we love it! ❤
I did Joanna's version of the Moda Modern Building Block quilt of the month several years ago...and it turned out great! I loved her color/fabric selections and I wish I had gotten this block of the month too...but, I missed out on the information for that...next time!
Enjoyed the show... I ran into someone I did not know in my apartment complex who recognized the FATQUARTER SHOP Box in my arms with my mail. She introduced herself as another quilter. Making friends with FATQUARTER SHOP! Anyone else have that happen? lol
Fun video. I would like to know more about the bow tie sew along. Where do I find that information? Do I need the sampler book for the bow tie pattern?
So, empty nest. When my youngest left home I helped her move all day and as we were saying goodbye in her apartment parking lot, I burst into tears and kept saying, “It’s not your fault.” I didn’t open her bedroom door for a month. My three other kids kept asking why I didn’t cry when they left.
What a shame that Quilt Market used to be so anti-baby/mom, especially because that would be so much of the actual quilting market! Could y'all share a link to the headphones Jordan found for Kimberly? I hate earbuds too!

I really like the Plumeria quilt pattern.
I think the criss cross pattern and/or pillow would be super cute if you made it in an assortment of Christmas greens, Christmas backgrounds and Christmas reds. Then it would look like holly leaves with red berries! 🎄
You two are hysterical together. Fun trunk show.

Thanks!

Kimberly, did you see the northern lights as you flew in to MKE? They were stunning in Northern Wisconsin.
Great video! This felt like you both let your hair down a bit. I am not far from Canton if you all make a trip up.

I was really interested in seeing the quilt with the jars. Where can I buy the pattern?
Hello marcomama! You can buy Coventry here: bit.ly/3QDBdBY
Where are you going in Milwaukee? I live in Milwaukee 😍
Milwaukee should be in the 70s during the day and low 50s at night.
When will you have more Strawberry lemonade layer cakes and fat quarters
Hello Ellen! We do not expect to have more in stock as collections sell out we are not able to buy more except in special circumstances.
I don’t like purple, either! I love collections that have NO purple!😊❤
Not a fan of yellow I love the aquas though
I’m glad Joanna has gone to samplers. I love samplers over any other quilt. I don’t like making the same boring block over and over again, boring.
I wish the BOM wasn't sold out.
