Aunt Jemima’s was so welcoming. Aunt Jemima loved even us feral kids. My Mom always gave me a "Thank you" note to give her since she knew I was stopping for delicious pancakes. Years later she told me she put a $5 bill in it ($5 in 1959 was good money) because she appreciated her care.❤️
The crows are so weird, I grew up there too and don’t ever remember them or even going as an adult I’ve never seen them. What’s really weird is they only gather in the front of the park, it’s almost like they know they’re not allowed to go into the park without a ticket! 😂
Speaking of rat traps, if you head into the lanai at the Enchated Tiki Room, on the bottom of the rock bench in front of Tangaroa there are a few rat-sized holes built in to the base of the bench. The holes blend in really well, but the whole bench is designed to be a rat trap since we get so many rodents that enjoy partying with Tangaroa lol
Well done. Thank you. I grew up in Los Angeles and started going to Disneyland in its first year. We always went to the Upjohn Pharmacy for the free little bottle of vitamins and a post card. They even gave them to the kids, so we came home with six bottles each trip! My dad would sit at Hills Brothers Coffee all day watching people, reading the paper and drinking coffee. My brother went straight to Tom Sawyer’s Island and fished all day. We rode both Autopias many times, and rode the sky ride. The only downside was the ticket book with those darned A tickets. 😂
This usually only happens in the colder winter months… Seeing a flock of crows is a message that you're not alone-you have good people around you, or a dead loved one is watching over you. It can also be a message to bring your lessons back to yourself and learn more. This seems very appropriate for Disneyland, it all applies. I like to think that it’s Walt watching over everyone.
Absolutely fantastic!! That last segment on the Nightly Murder is mind blowing, I've visited for decades and didn't really notice! Totally fascinating as you described the decline of the greenery and increase of concrete and why it happens. Brilliant video Justin!!! 👍👍
Despite the saturation of Disney videos you find on UA-cam nowadays, you still make the highest quality, most likable and most niche content related to Disneyland!
We are all here for your amazing videos!!! ❤❤❤You are the only Disney vlogger who does interesting videos. No food tasting (not that this is bad lol), no advice on genie or how to "save" money, the best days to go... etc. Truly this is entertainment and so beautifully done. Thank you Justin!!!
Oh if you ever start a tour with information like this, sign me up what a treat this is better then standing in line waiting for a ride, this is the stuff I absolutely love great video Justin.
This video is why Randomland is the best tv show on UA-cam! This funny free hearted information you provide is just wonderful! Thank you for doing this for the last 10 or more years! This video brought back so many memories I have had in Disneyland! ❤❤❤❤
I enjoyed watching this. I love Jeremy's collection of pinballs and jukeboxes. I used to work for a dealership that sold them, and I made a lot of service calls to repair them.
Great vid. I used to work at Disneyland at various times. The first was 1999 to 2006, then the summer of 2018, and most recently, 3/2022 to 8/2023. During that last tour, I worked at the front gate, scanning tickets, greeting and answering questions, then at night, saying goodnight as the guests would leave. It was then, from 5pm to 7pm, depending on the season, those black birds would come out in one big massive wave….then they left, almost as quickly as they got there. I would tell the guests that they were audio animatronic birds! Some believed me! Thank you Justin.
Thanks for highlighting some of the original sponsored shops on Main Street. You may remember that as late as 1983, the "building" to the right of the Opera House was a working Bank of America branch. My theory is that B of A had a branch on Main Street right next to the main entrance ticket booths to make sure that there was no excuse for Walt not making the mortgage payment on the park.
The corporate sponsorships are what enabled Walt to open Disneyland. There were so many from the fifities and sixties. I remember Monsanto's House of the Future and American the Beautiful with Bell Telephone. Welches had an enomous glass vat that circulated their grape juice near where Snow White is today.
Back in the early 2000’s I was at port Tacoma at a shipping port. Where thousands of cars were shipped over from Japan. The cars at that time were covered with a thin white plastic wrap to protect the paint from acid raid. The local crows started to peel off that protective coating. They were infatuated with that stuff and they were causing damage to the cars. We spoke with bird people to find out how to stop them. And they told us to kill one of the crows and stick its dead body on top of a fence poll. And they stopped. It was like a mafia hit to tell them to stop. Crazy.
I haven't watched in a while due to my busy life, but I'm so happy to come back to this !! I love saying w/ you that its time to go home and shleep well !! Hahah I say it all the time and ppl don't understand, but that's okay 😌 Loved the video !!
I love Crows and they actually do a good job at keeping rodents and "food trash" cleaned up! I love them so much. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs, Thorndale, and I have a murder of crows who love me and I love them! I feed them 1 time a month and they keep the rodents away...Love it!!! I made drinking stations and feeding spots...close to where the mice, rats, and squirrels nest. They will even eat from my hand every once in a while!
Classic Randomland Disney vid. Really enjoyed this one. With all the Disney vloggers out there, it was nice to learn that there are still new facts that havent been covered yet!
Justin, you probably won’t see this, but the other day I was literally telling my family “man I wish he would start doing the weird things videos” and then I look and see this one today! This is great. I love when you do Fun facts. This is how I originally found Your channel in the first place. I was looking up fun facts about 5 or so years ago. Then from the weird things at Disney videos, I found the playlist of you and Adam going back to Disney world for the first time in a while watched all that and have loved the channel ever since. Keep up the great work. Be great if you would do more Disney fun facts
I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the home of the old Upjohn company. There were old pictures of Walt Disney around town in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I always wondered what he was doing there. He was visiting his friends the Upjohn and the Gilmore's. Gilmore was a department store in Kalamazoo. Upjohn is now part of Pfizer drugs. Gilmore department store is now closed.
Great Job Justin! Such a great video. Growing up in SoKal going to the EggHouse in the morning and while my parents enjoyed their Folgers my brother and I would be in the Magic Shop learning a new trick. Always informative, keep up the good work. 👊🏻
Upjohn is long gone. It's Pfizer now. And Mr. Gilmore left us with his car collection which is at a nearby museum that is absolutely worth a visit if you're here in the Kalamazoo area.
I love that you brought this type of video back. I first discovered your channel in Feb. 2017. I think the first video I saw of yours was the one about the house of the future. I was hooked after that. Thank you for all you do ❤
I have those old postcards of the Upjohn Pharmacy, but I knew very little about the store - and its location! I always assumed it was on the “east side” of Main Street. Very cool stuff!! Love the old pill bottle!!
I can never get enough old school Skyway footage or even sneaky peaks at the Chalet stairs. Also, it looks like you got bombed on the brim of your cap at the end!
Justin, I called it crow time when I’d tell my Mom when I’d be home in the 1960’s! …it equated to street lights coming on. When I heard you say it on Periscope eons ago…I squealed "He know!"
This is the first time since I started watching your awesome vlogs about two years ago, that I became aware of "the five weird things" segments you have. I REALLY enjoyed it!!! The Up John Pharmacy segment was VERY interesting, because I am a HUGE fan of pharmaceuticals(one of my nicknames back in my thirties( I am 66 now)was " The Pharmacist") and a HUGE fan of antiques n miniatures, so the miniature glass vitamin bottle with the vitamins STILL in it from 50 yrs ago to me was fascinating!!!! "Crow Time" was a TOTAL hoot and I think it should be researched to figure out why they come in such droves at that certain time of day and stay a while, then all fly off for their night time activities!!! I would love to know the methods to the crowd madness,!!!! EXCELLENT vlog!!! Attaboy, Justin Scarred,!!!!🦅💊
I adore the return of the crows each night. Crows are my favorite birds. They are so intelligent they have reached the peak of their niche. My buddies ❤
YAY!!! 5 weird things is back!!! I absolutely love all of your content but this was always my favorite series! I love noticing tiny details! Im going tonight for sweethearts night. I'll keep my eyes out for anything weeeeiird 👀 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ah yes, the crows! I've always joked with my cast member friends (myself being a retired cast member) that the crows were the souls of former cast members returning to their happy place! I'm sure my soul will join them when my time comes. 😉😇🤙🏽🌠🏰🧚🏻♂💫
The meeting of the lands was really interesting. The fun thing watching the end with the crows, ia no one really cared. All those birds, you'd think someone would be freaking out.
Frontierland's doesn't end at that planter. It wraps around to the other side of River Belle, and covers the entire waterfront area to connect to the canoes. Even the walkway passing by Splash and Mansion are Frontierland.
Awesome video. I had not heard these before and I go to DL too much. I didn’t have a word for crow time but at oogie boogie one time I noticed them and I thought they were perfect. I figured I was the only person who noticed.
It’s crazy that you know so much information about all the different changes that happened in Disneyland for all the different phases of all the lands, weird…, that sounds kinda bad, impressive!
Theres You, Adam and FreshBaked. Then theres everyone one else. Thank you for your continued awesome and ORIGINAL content Justin. Btw. I found it interesting how Disney started selling white trucker style hats like yours.
I loved this video! Everything about it was fun. You know- I don’t know if you’ve done it and I missed it, but Knotts Berry Farm had a “vortex” type house at one point. A little wooden house/shack. When the water would flow upwards and you stand straight up but you would be at an angle. They god rid of it- but that was one of my favorite things ever. There’s a vortex up here in Oregon- but sadly, they don’t allow video just photos (wonk, wonk). Ok- that’s it.
I thought I was the only one who enjoyed “crow time”…there are also many Ravens…I’ve left work and rushed over to DL just to see and photograph crows and ravens
I used those party line phones every single time I went to Disneyland growing up in the 70s and 80s. Those exact phones. I always hoped for a new conversation, but that never happened.
I remember they sold RATTLESNAKE MEAT IN A CAN WITH AJUE and BUFFALO MEAT IN A CAN in Frontierland where the candy shop next to the shooting gallery is now
Aunt Jemima’s was so welcoming. Aunt Jemima loved even us feral kids. My Mom always gave me a "Thank you" note to give her since she knew I was stopping for delicious pancakes. Years later she told me she put a $5 bill in it ($5 in 1959 was good money) because she appreciated her care.❤️
That's awesome
Content like this is why UA-cam succeeds. The fence convergence site is fabulous! Glad to know the vintage "Party Line" phone is still in use.
The crows are so weird, I grew up there too and don’t ever remember them or even going as an adult I’ve never seen them. What’s really weird is they only gather in the front of the park, it’s almost like they know they’re not allowed to go into the park without a ticket! 😂

A classic randomland style video that reminded me of the good ooooold days. Glad to see your going back to your roots.
Absolutely fantastic!! That last segment on the Nightly Murder is mind blowing, I've visited for decades and didn't really notice! Totally fascinating as you described the decline of the greenery and increase of concrete and why it happens. Brilliant video Justin!!! 👍👍
I remember watching your "5 weird things at Disneyland" videos like 9 years ago, what a throwback!
4:55 The vitamins are so expired, they look fresh again.
Despite the saturation of Disney videos you find on UA-cam nowadays, you still make the highest quality, most likable and most niche content related to Disneyland!

Thanks Justin! This kind of video is why I subscribed many years ago. Also, a proud patreon supporter. Keep up the good work!

These have always been my favorite videos! Awesome to see the updated versions!
The weird series was one of my favorites. Glad to see it is back.
Alllll verryyy interesting, Justin, thanks for the stories!
This is such a throwback video. I started watching you through your videos on weird and secret things at Disneyland almost a decade ago now
Back in the early 2000’s I was at port Tacoma at a shipping port. Where thousands of cars were shipped over from Japan. The cars at that time were covered with a thin white plastic wrap to protect the paint from acid raid.

Underrated comment 😂😂🤣

I love saying w/ you that its time to go home and shleep well !! Hahah I say it all the time and ppl don't understand, but that's okay 😌

awh heck yeah the return of one of my favorite series, more stuff to show my friends that have never been next time I go :D
I love this channel. Are there legit no comments, or is youtube being dumb?
Classic Randomland Disney vid. Really enjoyed this one. With all the Disney vloggers out there, it was nice to learn that there are still new facts that havent been covered yet!

Hi to you & Ally.❤Thanks for the video. I love these videos in or out of the parks. Can't wait for the next videos!!📺📸❤
I, at 57 years old now...am just geeking and freaking out with these last few videos!!! My goodness! You are on FIRE!!!! Maaaaahn! So good!
I love learning about Disney History from you, Justin 😊
Great Job Justin! Such a great video. Growing up in SoKal going to the EggHouse in the morning and while my parents enjoyed their Folgers my brother and I would be in the Magic Shop learning a new trick. Always informative, keep up the good work. 👊🏻
Finally got a day off time to get in my randomland sweater and watch a ton of justin scarred! ❤yey
Your weird videos were always my favorites in your old format. I’d love more content like this!
This is the series that introduced me to the world that is being a Disney Parks Fan. So glad this is back! Thanks Justin
I loved the weird things at Disney videos, glad to see another
I’ve missed the weird things videos. Thanks for bringing it back!
Thanks Justin!
We are going to Disneyland in April. Can’t wait 😛
Upjohn is long gone. It's Pfizer now. And Mr. Gilmore left us with his car collection which is at a nearby museum that is absolutely worth a visit if you're here in the Kalamazoo area.
Back to your roots! I love it!! Keep em coming!!
Great angle for a Disney video! Nice work!
I love that you brought this type of video back. I first discovered your channel in Feb. 2017. I think the first video I saw of yours was the one about the house of the future. I was hooked after that. Thank you for all you do ❤
Yes it’s a Murder of crows, a Parliament of owls, a Flamboyance of Flamingos, and a Bucket of chicken 🍗 😂🤣😂🤣
Just five? The whole place is a freak show. Good luck! I’ve always enjoyed your videos.
Damn this is a top tier Disneyland vid, nicely done Mr. Randomland
This is GREAT Justin. I really Enjoy this content and type of subject matter for Disneyland. TRULY!! Thank you for sharing this one!!!🕶🤙🏽
You always make me laugh. I love your videos and finding out new little hidden things with you walking around the parks.
I have those old postcards of the Upjohn Pharmacy, but I knew very little about the store - and its location! I always assumed it was on the “east side” of Main Street. Very cool stuff!! Love the old pill bottle!!
Crow o’clock is my favorite 🎉
I can never get enough old school Skyway footage or even sneaky peaks at the Chalet stairs. Also, it looks like you got bombed on the brim of your cap at the end!
Our first trip to Disneyland is this May, hope we run into you Justin!!
Thanks for the great trip down memory lane on Main Street!
Good thing you didn’t eat the vitamins because when they were new they were clear not dark brown.
Cool videyooo!!! I didn't know all that history!!! I learned a lot today lol!! I also can't believe Disneyland used to have a pharmacy lol
Justin, I called it crow time when I’d tell my Mom when I’d be home in the 1960’s! …it equated to street lights coming on. When I heard you say it on Periscope eons ago…I squealed "He know!"
The crows like to hang out above the Story Book Land… CMs stand at the beginning of the queue with a warning ⛔️ 😆

I personally remember the nightly "murders" at Disneyland as far back as 1983. They were very consistent.
I adore the return of the crows each night. Crows are my favorite birds. They are so intelligent they have reached the peak of their niche. My buddies ❤
Luv the History, fab vid as always👍
YAY!!! 5 weird things is back!!! I absolutely love all of your content but this was always my favorite series! I love noticing tiny details! Im going tonight for sweethearts night. I'll keep my eyes out for anything weeeeiird 👀

Very nostalgic vid…not only weird things but the power of the cobra (like)
Frontierland's doesn't end at that planter.
We bought our Christmas sausage at the Butcher shop. Candy Hot Dogs/Candied Cigarettes…we had it all🤣
It’s crazy that you know so much information about all the different changes that happened in Disneyland for all the different phases of all the lands, weird…, that sounds kinda bad, impressive!
Wow thank you Justin. That was weeeeeird😮
Theres You, Adam and FreshBaked. Then theres everyone one else.
Thank you for your continued awesome and ORIGINAL content Justin.
Btw. I found it interesting how Disney started selling white trucker style hats like yours.
Glad your having fun great videos
Great video. I loved the crows.
I never noticed the amount of crows when I was at Disneyland, but I also haven’t been there in about 4-5 years!
I used to work at the market house, and we used to arrange the salami and cheeses and such a fashion has to be somewhat X-rated how fun that was!
The 3 Fences was like opening a time capsule 👍🏻 and I felt bad that you didn’t notice that a crow murdered your Hat.
A great episode Sir ,very informative 👍
Awesome video Justin!
I loved this video! Everything about it was fun.

Punny! I am glad the crows have somewhere safe to hide out.
Those phones…we listened to those in the 60s and 70s. Ah, the memories!
good stuff!!
"Hitchcock would be proud." (Ooops, wrong channel) Loved it Justin...
I love these videos! ❤
love your videos huge fan
I used those party line phones every single time I went to Disneyland growing up in the 70s and 80s. Those exact phones. I always hoped for a new conversation, but that never happened.
i loved this one. thank you
i love these videos!
Hahaha I love the Disney crows !!!
WILD RODIENTS!
There should also be a small concrete building corner from the Monsanto 'House of the Future,' somewhere in Tomorrowland.
Awesome .. didn’t know about the murders “ BWAHAA HA HA !! “ of crows .. I need to pay more attention next time .
I remember they sold RATTLESNAKE MEAT IN A CAN WITH AJUE and BUFFALO MEAT IN A CAN in Frontierland where the candy shop next to the shooting gallery is now
candied meat was definitely a new one for me!! Wiiieeerrrddd!!
That covered up area used to be the smoking area around 2012. The last time I went to Disneyland!
