April 2024 AMA 5/5 Bill Gaede and the Rope Hypothesis

Today, we move on to this patron's question about what I think about Bill Gaede's Rope Hypothesis or the theory that Quantum Mechanics suffers from the flaw of using discrete, invisible, and heavy constructs that can't actually make any intuitive sense but only rely on mathematical formalization.

Gaede's main (or best, to my mind) argument is against abstraction: the idea that something has 'existence' just because you've managed to define it. He charges modern mathematical physics with the delusion that they can explain how reality works simply by constructing consistent (descriptive) formulae.
