Started laboring in concrete when I was a teenager. Was a union journeyman. Highway and heavy, worked on so many things. I'm out of the trade now (I still do some occasionally). Love watching craftsmanship. I still drive by jobs I did 25 years ago and take pride in them. Great videos.
Yes every now and then I see a job I did many years ago and I'm always amazed how well it still looks.
Yes. Bless Chris 🙏
I'm in the cement masons union local 400 and they teach this in class nice to see you putting up this video. Most people dont understand how this career can treat you with a living that can be taken anywhere in the world.
I concur

The world 🌎 top flight
Thank you for explaining how it works. Your videos are very educational and practical.
Nothing like new tools.
for sure
The beeping is really annoying just watching the video 😂 I’m still going to watch tho
Dave, you can get vertical plum lines if you lay the laser on its side. You can extend control lines on the ground too by doing that. I haven't tried that with a dewalt laser but I have been doing that for over 20 years with PLS and Hilti.
This laser can give you degrees of slope
@@OdellCompleteConcrete nice. I plan on buying one of those soon.
Another awesome video
Thank you
Another great video, keep up the good work david, your videos are much appreciated!
TY
NICE VIDEO!👊💨
TY
YOU Sir Deserve way more SUBSSSSSSSSSSSS
I concur
TY
Can the laser level measure the slope of the property relative to the house in front of and behind of the house without a line of sight ?
A nice tool, it works well in the right hands (which isn't an issue with you and your employees).
TY
Been watching for a while now and I have to say this video has me LMAO... Right now I'm in northern Utah and it's 18 damn degrees outside. I know you live in southern CA but I'm seeing you all layered up like you're trying to stay warm. WTF Dave? ;-0
WE can get down to 40
Like kerryithm2 says laser on tripod and receiver on leveling staff as you are bending down when you don't have to
Great videos by the way good content and great concrete finishing 👍from🇮🇪
that's true, but if you have to make a pencil mark your going to have bend over.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete this is very true but it is easier as overall less bending and when taking a level at least you are stood straight up looking back at level so easier to tune in receiver to level, but also I find that if you place level on ground there is always something in the line of sight from the level to receiver or maybe I run a messy site but we all have our own wee ways so each to our own
for sure
TY
Great instructional video.
TY
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Would it be OK to ask you some questions on YT or do you have another platform ie website etc? I live in New Zealand and I am about to start a concrete driveway project.
Your videos are great by the way.
Thanks
This is the only platform we have with this much detail./
Nice laser. DeWalt is mostly what I have purchased throughout my career. Some Milwaukee & Makita. Can't go wrong w/ DeWalt though. A little too high tech for my needs but would be an awesome piece to have. Thanks for the demo.
Yes Dewalt is solid
I love your videos Dave! My Grandparents are gonna redo their back yard soon here in redlands ca. don’t know if that’s to far of a commute from orange county But i am definitely gonna tell them about you and show them your videos! you do amazing work!
Its a possibility
Nice review!
TY
The flex volt circular saws are an awesome bit of kit aren't they. I have the DeWalt 360 degree laser as I don't need a rotary one. ,👍🙂
plenty of power for sure
Personally I choose robotic total station over laser level for construction applications.
Something like Leica iCON iCR80
OSS
Did you get a wiff of the new tool smell?
Yes that's always nice
Thanks 👍
YW
awesome videos always.!!
TY
Nice rotary laser. Did you video the pour? Can't find it... Thank you
yes
Does anyone know of a better laser receiver to use with this? I find the one included doesn’t pick up the laser too well
Amazon
Did you find a compatible receiver?
The DEWALT one sucks big time
@@OdellCompleteConcrete.
Which one works better than the DEWALT receiver?
If it’s Bluetooth the range is limited, maybe 50 feet.
So if you’re a block away and someone bumps the laser, you won’t be notified until you return.
That's true
On the older wall where there was a 6" distance between the laser height and the mortar joint, that would be the part of the wall that sloped 3" down? Is that just from time and movement in the ground?
possibly time or it was built that way
What model laser is this? Great vids man your killing it
Dewalt
Right I see that but what model is it? Also do you still recommend it? And that’s js for getting back to me
During the Unboxing the you said the level works out to 2,000 feet. Why wasn't it working the 50 feet across the yard? Was it still set in the 45° mode and not 360°?
I think it was block by obstructions
Rest in peace headphones

How much slope do you need going into each drain away from the main house. Ive heard that its supposed to be 1/4" for every foot. Can i do less or is that about right?
@Jose Manuel... 1/4" per foot is recommended for home sanitary sewer drains (i.e. bath, kitchen and utility rooms).
For surface drains (aka stormwater surface runoff) I've built drainage ditches, as well as flat surface 'swales' for state highway projects with as little slope as .2 percent grade (approx. 3/128" per foot....or approx. 7 1/4" for 300') as they were engineered for federal highway jobs. These are considered extreme minimums....make them steeper if possible.
I like to go 1/8" to 3/16" per foot
Easier to use a water level?
I doubt that.
do you guys do concrete grinding and polishing?
occassionally
any videos on them?
@@davidjacobs8558
not yet
so why no stand and stick? also whats the model of this ?
Its easier this way
I need to build a 2000feet water channel and I need it as perfect as possible
1/16 Accuracy for 100 feet, what does that mean for 2000 feet?
Can someone explain?
1.25
1inch and 4 Sixteenths at 2,000 feet.
do you have a model # on this product sir, thanks, very helpful video👍
I don't think its on the market yet
Its the DeWalt DW080L 20V Max Tool Connect Tough Rotary Laser $1,999.00 at Toolbarn or Acme.
Josh Alonzo - 😱
Ouch...
2 grand is a lot. But I guess it's worth it.
Josh Alonzo wow to much
they should make green laser version, which can be easier to see in the day light condition.
Yes it is green light but not much better
What is the Model of this Dewalt Laser Level ?
OSS
👏
How much?
I think its around 800.00
What happened to your Johnson?
Still have it
Day-ummm...$1200 for a laser level. I guess that's worth it if you're in the business, but I doubt any DIY'ers would find value there. At least we see how they're used on the job.
great
You could just rented out from home depot.
When your ready for retirement provide it u make it that far your back is screwed up completely. It’s a career that’s very hard on the body. I personally think it’s not paid enough. Just my opinion.
I think your right, and I wonder why
You gotta have a big dick to work in this. Its not for the average.
Sorry David, that was tough to watch. I much prefer your actual construction videos. Your product ads, not so much.
Yes me too, but I like free stuff to give away.
I have some stuff in the works for give a ways
This was a great video. Training videos can be stale much like your comment. I think it was again a great video and very easy to follow not to mention interesting.
@@OdellCompleteConcrete many of us want to see videos like this. I personally would like to see you combine one on one instruction like this with the regular timelapse footage. When I watch many of your vids I often wish there was more in depth directions like this along with the general narration of the timelapse of the job. But I get it, your there to do a job and filming vids like you do is a bonus for us. Just my 2 cents. You do great work and definately take care of your customers which is #1. Thanks for your time until next time...
@@trent1755
Yes that sounds good, I may be able to do that one day.
This is all part of job. Without this spinning laser the job would take longer having to use a water level.
May should had played with it a day or two before you showed it.. not a great showing of a new product...
probably
Wasnt bad at all it gave good insight into how it works... learn as you go from a pro. I thought the minor learning curve made it more interesting and potentially less stale such as your comment.
1st 👍
way to go
Its a good feeling when youre no1. 👍
Just don't sell out too hard. I Enjoy the videos but hate the shill reviews. Most youtubers get caught up in them. Like when you tried to use a level to rod off concrete lol. We know that would never last.
The redstick is still working
Hes not selling out just cashing in. Tool reviews are helpful and these ones are great. Id guess if something did suck hed say so and or not even bother to demo it. This isnt selling out this was a good instructional video for newbies such as me.
It's not a level... it's a Milwaukee red stick, specifically made for screeding lol
I honestly could build this laser leveler with much better visual. Dewalt sucks
