    3:00 Axel Oxenstierna is one of the most important politicians in Swedish history, right up there with our great kings.
    He helped Gustav II Adolf during the thirty years war.
    After the king’s death, he became Queen Christina’s regent until she came of age, and introduced a great many reforms.
    For example, he considered our old geographical distribution of our ”landskap” subdivision to be arbitrary, so he redivided Sweden’s map into a new ”län” subdivision, made do that the population distribution between any two counties was more equitable. Notably, without these reforms, anyone taking a metro train to Southern Stockholm would’ve likely had to use a different ticket today, lol.
    We still use the previous ”landskap” subdivision for weather reports or fir royal titles (Duke of [insert landskap here]), but the län subdivision (recently reformed into the ”region” subdivision, but is basically the same, except that some of the län got combined) is used for all administrative issues.
    Keep in mind that that’s just a cherry picked example of what he did.
    His position was a ”Greve” though I suppose domething like count would be loosly equivelant.
    Basically, these elitist protestors in the video are chanting for some long dead noble guy nobody thinks about except if they’ve recently heard his name in a history class, lmao.

    Some of the subtitles were a bit off:
    At 0:55 "inner-city areas" should be something like "innerness areas" as a play on "utanförskapsområden"/"outsiderness areas". Basically poor areas.
    1:38 "Gärdet" is a big park/lawn on Östermalm which I guess got google translated to "fence"
    2:26 he says "I have seen it myself"
    2:49 they're calling him "Vilks Larsson", a reference to Lars Vilks who had to live under police surveillance after depicting Muhammed
    3:50 they omitted that he was also called "Onkel Guillou" a mix of Uncle Tom and Jan Guillou who is a left-wing author, journalist and noble

    Östermalm is a part of Stockholm that has been the go to place for the rich.
    Mostly families who has been rich for generations, not ones that has just become rich.
    People in Östermalm are usually gentle and kind, they don't look down on poor people, they donate to charity and so on.

    It's very language and based on things that's happend in Swedish society. For example, the left say a lot (which everyone laughs at today) that we need more community youth centers for the young and that will stop the crime, and here he says "the solutation isn't more oyster bars for the young") which is a hint to that. There is a lot of small jokes like that.

    The whole episode makes fun of radical islamists and flips it around to the posh people. Like "upper-class policemen that control the district" is based on the islamic religious radicals, that controls the neighbourhoods . We have some problems in Sweden with "no-go zones" where radical islamists control the area and police can not guarantee peoples safety in that area

    • @memoblom2112
      @memoblom2112 3 місяці тому +3

      The police do not use this term (no-go-zones) about any area in Sweden as that term means that an area is totally controlled by for an ex a rebel-group and that the police can not enter that area to investigate when a crime has been reported. And that is not the case in any area in Sweden. It is sometimes difficult for the police in some of those problem-areas to do their job though.
      .
      (The areas that the police lists as problematic or very problematic makes up around 0,02 % of Swedens geographic area and around 5% of the population live there, most has a refugee/immigrant background).

    • @thoos192
      @thoos192 3 місяці тому +2

      @@memoblom2112The police can define it however they want, it is still a zone where they are having trouble upholding the law and ambulance and fire fighters do not enter without police protection. Normal people call it "no go zones" and that term has been used in some media as well. But here in Sweden it needs to be so fancy all the time, police can not call it for what it is, because that would "promote racism". So they had to invent the PC term "especially vunerable areas". No matter what you call it, it is a disaster and those areas are growing day by day
