Shift's sense of speed is really something that haven't been replicated in any other racing game ever. And the helmet cam immersion is so out of this world to the point that you are scared to go fast.
It's sound design is absolutely fucking god tier too. Probably one of the best sounding racing games out there.
Yeah, I was literally too scared to drive a bugatti in nfs shift.
NFS Shift is without doubt one of the best nfs games of all time, shame it's so underrated.
Honestly it just hits the perfect balance between "simulator" and "arcade" that no game has replicated till now.
I honestly preferred Shift 1 over Shift 2

honestly the handling and the input lag that represents prostreet's input lag on the most extreme forms of crack cocaine is what threw me off
An NFS we need back, but we can't have cuz modern EA is gonna shove it full of microtransactions
And don't forget about soulless characters and story

Microtransactions isnt the issue, a shitty physics model and a lack of speed feeling are the real problem

Poor NFS World.
Glad to see you're still using my Sal suggestion, at least early on. Scouts are so busted in Carbon, practically makes the game play itself, and certainly can lead to some entertaining moments. Surprised to see them losing sometimes, even with the Remaster.
Using Drafter and Blocker worked well at carbon tho.
Scouts are not that good. They're programmed to be ahead of the player so they can mark down shortcuts for them, but this also triggers rubberbanding in opponent AI that Scouts can't always keep up with, basically makes the game more difficult with no chance of keeping up (because Scouts are designed to be ahead of you)
Now, Drafters on the other hand, they basically do the same thing without speeding too far ahead. And on top of that, you can activate them to go beyond the speed cap. Drafters are what all the good speedrunners use.
Poor NFS World.
Scouts will fuck you over by break checking you, ramming you, clipping you on corners, or cutting you off by turning in front of you suddenly.
Drafter aren't much better, but they can at least help you recover.

Wish they remastered, Underground 1 & 2, Most Wanted, Carbon and Pro Street. They are all really great games that modern NFS games cannot even be compared to. The last good need for speed for *me personally* was The Run.
if only they completely remade Undercover so it could actually be good or atleast a little bit better

I wish modders would stop messing with difficulty. It's like their idea of improving gameplay is making it 50 time harder so you have to restart a race 50 times before you either get lucky or quit. They keep fucking with the balance of the games and make them worse.
This is why movies and games need a good director, because simply being able to do something doesn't always mean you should.
exactly, this rework looks beautiful but the ai difficulty is so incredibly high, there is always one or two cars that outrun you so hard that you can't do anything about it, just see them get further and further away from you and lose
@hearyoume9004 I complained about this because a lot of community-made "remasters" look beautiful and have improved and/or new features, but the difficulty and imbalance makes them nearly unplayable. If a game is too difficult it becomes a chore to play and people give up before halfway through because what's the point of doing something completely unprodoctive if you don't at least enjoy it. Developers and publishers know that, which is why they balance it in such a way that it's hard enough to not get boring, but easy enough to finish it in like 10-20 hours.

Great video! Love to see old NFS games get love they deserve from the playerbase. One thing tho is bugging me as the sound idk if its breaking or not but at certain points for me- like I would hear only Kuru and nothing else.
Nah it's because of youtube copyright. I tried to isolate the voice so that the background music does not get striked.
Man that Post Processing Filter mod makes this game looks so good! It makes it more movie like just like NFS 2015!

Strange they decided to add traffic to every canyon event, which makes duels weird, it's not the skill that matters, it's not hitting a traffic car. However, they kept the no cops policy for checkpoint events. That's also strange because most wanted tolbooth had cops.

This mod makes Carbon look a lot like NFS 2015, which isn't a bad thing because from a purely visual standpoint, 2015 is my favourite. Honestly, a remaster of that game with the handling physics fixed and an expanded car list would be the perfect NFS imo.

The concavity adjustments you can make on the wheels in this game are still unmatched you can make rims 2 foot deep dish. Or have em poke out 2 feet like a set of g15 swangas

Why you can see through the car? 'Cuz Z-Buffer (depth buffer) is fucky in plenty of older games and reshade and outside injectors can easily have issues.
Its crazy how all we want remasters because thare are very few newer games that offer something new or anything even half as fun

camera really needs to be a bit higher and raise drift camera as a whole. its kinda outside the comfort zone
though i like graphical treatments they applied and other treatments to the game
