Thank you for making these videos. I just got qualified for TCG Direct today after selling for a month an a half and your channel has been a huge help!
Just retired and started going through my old cards. I have been listing some here and there but your vids have gotten me into spending my free time with a hobby I love.
Best pokemon card selling video I've seen in months man! I've only been selling hit cards on eBay and TCG Player is my next journey. Your perspective and advice was solid man. I appreciate it. And you're not kidding about the time consumption of sorting. I work a full time job and have a family and I've been sorting to go Live on TCG player for the last 3 month and I've barely scratched the surface of my inventory. So golden advice on the amount of time it takes.
Great Video! I've gotten into Pokemon selling through Live Streams, WhatNot, and my own personal website which has worked great for me. But I'm intrigued by the selling of commons, uncommons, rares, etc because I'm currently just selling bulk for $0.02 a card haha
That is awesome Stone Plays! You have a really cool channel, i'm not surprised it has been going well for you! Selling bulk takes a lot of work, but it can be worth it if you put the time in.
Not nearly that much. I'm looking to increase the amount of bulk I process soon, but as of now, I'm getting back into listing everything I have. I'd be interested in discussing a bulk buying deal between us if you're looking to keep liquidating instead of selling singles. For the pack breaking side, liquidation might be a better use of your time. If you're interested, feel free to email me at thelabtcg@gmail.com
Your videos are so informative that I watch them multiple times, you're such a great resource for thoroughly explained business details about selling pokemon cards!
here is a couple tips Iv learned from selling on tcg for a few years now. Basic Index cards from the dollar store work great as divider’s, ya get like 300 for 1$ they also work great for hand written thank you cards for newer sellers fishing for positive feedback, this may take a few extra mins to hand write if ya have a bunch of orders but it helped me receive constant 5 star feedback and even had people specifically go outta there way to mention it in the review, when my TCG store was first getting started.. I got probly 5x the feedback when I would do this trick.
Going to start a new inventory involving boxes and booster packs. Should 15 boxes/packs be enough to start a business along with some unopened card packs?
@@TheLabTCG I'm talking about sealed products. Should I start with 15/20 sealed products for a start of my business? Along side with bulk cards and unopened cards?
What is the best way to sort for this business model: alphabetically or by set and number? I was sorting my bulk by set and number for a long time, but im starting to think that could become very difficult in the long run.
you have just released this video at the perfect time I’m currently uploading my entire collection via eBay from 1998-2022 you’ve dropped some amazing tips that I will be putting to good use
I’m doing most of them as auction, when all items are ready I’ll list them at the same time so all auctions end on the same day when ready I will post ebay link…… If ok with (the lab tcg)??
Am I allowed to have one account on tcgplayer with items listed in my direct inventory and items listed in a non direct inventory? Or do I have to choose all direct or all non direct?
9:15 bro said lemme teach y'all how to inflate the market. Normally I attribute this typa behavior to what is wrong with the hobby/game. Yet, I can't help but be impressed with the quality of this video and how good you are at conveying information (as well as honest). Solid video I'm impressed. Regardless if you make this video or not as this market matures people will naturally come to these conclusions so it is nice to share your experiences. I also love collecting damaged/HP cards, I call them WL (well loved) condition.
Thanks for the comment! I agree that being money focused in pokemon can be bad for the hobby, but as a business, these are the types of strategies you should be employing to maximize your efforts. I find that too many sellers look to just liquidate their cards and think they are turning a profit. I wanted that piece to be an educational experience where people can learn that there is value to being a good seller. Glad you saw it in a positive light! Thanks for the comment, and keep giving those well loved cards a home!
I've listed 11k and sold 5k+ cards on ebay only. My journey has been long and full of frustration along with amazing changes. For my magic cards I put the 3 letter set code on the top of the bcw divider. all tcg games are split by year. So magic / pokemon / yugioh are all split by card game than by year card released. Than set. Than alphabetically. I can pull 50x card orders in a few mins now. Vs would be 20min+. Doing the big brain work before you sort and list is such a big deal. Started out with just a deck box of cards. Than 2, 3, 5 til I got a 5 row bcw box. Than 2, now 5. But my tcg seller journey is at its end. Moving my focus into video games and getting ungated on amazon to do fba where my time and profit on avg is 100x a tcg sale order. Leaving all 4k cards listed til end of the year for that ebay feedback than bull sell all to the next guy.
Thanks for the video man !! wanted to try to sell cards like this in TCGplayer but sadly its only posible if you live in USA :( much respect from the Netherlands
Hello good morning, AWESEOME Videos, I wanted to tell you that’s your videos have truly helped me out. I went from what to do with all these cards to “hey I’m making some sales”. Thank you I also heard in one of your videos that you buy bulk. I was wondering if you would be interested in the bulk I have?
Hey man just wondering what is that slab you show on your thumbnail. It looks like a promo of lunala and pikachu from what I can see and possibly others
Hey there! I'm a seller and I'm curious about the TCGP direct program. How do you select or manage what cards of yours are enrolled in the direct program?
Thanks for releasing this video. I watched it when it came back basically trying to speedrun Seller Level 4. I've been selling One Piece, Magic, and Pokemon. Bulk to mid tier cards. Some higher end MTG cards so i can use those funds to buy a thermal printer lol. I actually think I've earned enough to buy it, but im not selling fast enough where I'm too lazy to write on an envelope lol.
Also found on eBay that selling a couple dozen items at a time isn’t much use. As soon as I had a spare day I banged on 100 and immediately stuff started shifting. It’s amazing how often people must look at sellers other items and see things they like
Hey Jose, thanks for the comment and the positive feedback! TCGPlayer direct allows you to sell on both regular TCGPlayer marketplace and the direct program. Direct orders are identified separately from regular orders in the seller dashboard and shipped less frequently. Let me know if this helps!
The problem with doing that on tcgplayer is the option to optimize your cart after you’ve added all the cards. With higher prices and higher shipping you’ll probably lose out on sales that way
Sure, you could, but I would rather make more on a per item basis then spend a lot of time packing lower margin orders. Personal preference, but methods work.
Good info here. Some things to consider. At $320 after fees does that also include what it cost to acquire the inventory? You also mentioned supplies. Ones that you mentioned which seem optional, but also things like envelopes, stamps, etc... should be accounted for. Mentioning you put in a bunch of time on weekends is a little vague. With out an exact number lets assume 8hrs/day over 8 days/month that's ~$5/hr. Again not including supply costs, inventory costs, and any extra time spent on this. Like going to the post office or doing any work during the week. I still think you are in the black which is good, I do value my time more than that. More power to you if you enjoy it and you got the time to kill. I saw you in the comments mentioning a 90 day follow up. It would be nice to include this missing info and a full breakdown of profits/time. Make sure to reinvest all your profits into side hustle.
Thanks for the comment, going to quickly jot down some info. $324 before fees would not include the cost of inventory. I further break down the cost of inventory and the cost of shipping shortly after, but you are correct, it would be 324 - 18.55 - $4 to 8 shipping. For the cost, I averaged the 371 items sold at $.05 each which is likely overstating. For the shipping, I believe it came to around $7. For TCGPlayer direct, I use bubble mailers and team bags that cost me under a couple cents each. Didn't break out the full math step by step, but laid out those costs in the video. TCGPlayer direct comes with the advantage that you only need to ship large orders once instead of multiple envelopes and stamps. So that rolls into the $7 shipping. The time spent was vague, I don't record the time it takes me to do, but my weekend is primarily consumed by producing content, listing cards, researching, and actually selling the cards. It is going to take me more time on weekends to do this because I am still actively listing a large amount of inventory that will sell overtime. Many of the cards that are being listed did not sell in this time period, but I expect them to overtime. I've been doing this for quite a while, it is not a get rich quick scheme. It is something I enjoy doing, and it takes a lot of work. I think some of the things you mentioned are sprinkled throughout my other videos if you're interested. For the next video, I'll be more detailed.
I've also sell bulk on eBay for about 2 months now. I'm still unsure which one is better. It's just the shipping on ebay kind of kills it for profits. 100 bulk cards profiting at $2.50 after fees and shipping. 200 bulk cards profiting at $9.00 after fees and shipping. So basically the more they buy from me the more the profit is. Once they buy more than 300 cards, it can no longer fit in a small flat rate box, so then shipping becomes like $13 at that point and I lose money again :/
Do you have any advice for someone just started selling on tcg? I have 100 cards posted shipping at .99 and still don't get any orders. I keep my prices at or below market value. I must be doing something wrong. I'm just not sure what. Any advice would be appreciated.
Have to ask why you would sell that evolving skies case unless you have a good amount of them. That's going to be worth a lot more not that far down the line.
I actually have a video on my channel about this topic. It's called "the truth behind why I'm selling booster boxes". Tldr, I think they are getting reprinted. I go in depth on why I think that in the video.
He can make way more money in the long run by selling the evolving skies case now and then churning that profit continuously by selling other cards and products
I like the “fast nickel, slow dime” saying! But I’ve been doing everything you’ve talked about since I became a level four seller on TCGplayer back in September! What I was saying is you wanna be a specialty boutique and not Walmart! It’s crazy the amount of people that will buy from you because you have the full play sets even though you’re priced higher than others!
Wait, so listing cards at a premium on TCGplayer can work? I’ve noticed that when I lost cards for their market value or higher they never sell, but I think that might just be because I am not a level 4 seller yet
Good job! Actually, i have a strange question, could you ship an order to Ukraine directly or USPS denied that opportunity? I cant imagine that Japanese post service can make it, but American doesn't. If it possible in theory, would you like to try make sells that way? And if you would, is it possible to to find out shipping cost before deal?
Pokemon usually release 3 or 4 items a year that are the must haves and are worth buying and holding for a few years. CP6 and Mythical Collection has 10x for me, cash flow is the obvious issue here but after you've completed a 5 year cycle you should be able to start seeing great returns. This year I have my eye on SV2a (the english version of it too) and TCG Classic so far.
Yep, it is important to distinguish between cashflow and sealed product appreciation. I learned this early on trying to run this business. It is hard to hold onto sealed product with no way to continue financing the business. (Assuming no personal contributions). Great comment!
I just registered for a TCG sellers account and about to start selling soon. I have a ton of supporter and trainer cards, do you think $.25 cards with $.99 shipping will sell even if I’m a new seller. You mentioned it works for you but you’ve already a solid seller rating.
Thanks for the comment! It is unlikely that things will start selling with no feedback or sales history at a higher price. Your best bet is to look for cards that you have that are worth a little more and list those to start. That way, you can build up some sales history and get experience selling. Once you build up more inventory and sales, my method could work for you. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Hey Francisco, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately you cannot. The inventory is combined. If you raise your shipping cost, you can reduce the amount of orders that come through regular marketplace.
Bro i know you know what your talking about because I do the same with multiple cards especially when i have multiple. You can hike the price and make it a competitive market.
Actually pretty interesting, little thing though, I know it’s hard but less stuttering or breath pauses can make a huge difference in a video, feels more professional and that
Personally as someone who orders a lot from tcgplayer and a long time tcgplayer subscriber I prefer to not order from direct every card I get from them has insane curling/warping idk if they store their cards in a super humid environment or what but it’s ridiculous.
I bought a collection at the start of January for $2k. I've been selling pokemon cards for years, but closed my business last summer for an internship opportunity. This is the 30 day progress report since starting from 0 sales thirty days ago
@@TheLabTCG Thanks for clarifying. I have been trying to sell as a business and have been going for a few months but hadn't expanded into using the buylist and reselling bulk. I have a lot of bulk and sealed products but turnover has been slow. And tips/tricks there? You probably have a vid on it that I haven't seen yet. Just found your content. @@TheLabTCG I'd love to hear your opinion on Card Trader. I started selling there about a month ago and it's been pretty okay, it's basically TCGplayer Direct, but there's no barrier to entry and it automatically syncs your TCGplayer inventory.
Hey Joshua, thanks for the comment! This is a good point. Unfortunately, I don't know much about selling Pokémon cards outside of the United States. Soon I might be introducing a new platform that allows me to help out here a little bit more.
@@TheLabTCG I'm from eu, 250 a box is pretty much going rate. Seems to be a small premium on cases though. Not sure about selling to USA since we don't pay taxes on anything. Strange how you guys are paying so much more for evolving skies, but everything else is so much cheaper
@@TheLabTCG not that that's not successful. You definitely turned a profit but you would almost need an empire including all the time you would need so you may have to hire help.
@Daniel L Yes. Over time as I list more inventory, these numbers are just going to keep growing. I'll be posting a 90 day update video and we can see the difference then. I'm also getting a card sorter, so that should help a ton!
This isnt a get rich quick scheme dude. The majority of ppl who watch this just want to get rid of their bulk, duplicates. And if you sort your bulk right away after you open a pack,bb etc. It takes minutes to post it on your site, ebay cardmarket, tcgplayer etc. I make each month about 300-500 euro from selling bulk on cardmarket and ebay and it takes maybe like 4 hours tops to pack, ship, talk to the person via mail and be done. Its a side income unless you have your own big lgs store you wont see much from it after all you need a distributor that will give you supply for msrp. That is the only way to see big$
@@HandheldGamer1991 I didn't say it was. Most mom and pop shops aren't owned by rich ppl but they make enough to make in life. You're can't make an argument out of being facetious or over exaggerating to your benefit. That's silly

Great video! Is it possible to get a shipping tutorial for the $1 and $2 shipping prices? Thanks!
Sure, can you clarify the question? I can make a video on how to ship pokemon cards.
Loving all this info!!
I've also sell bulk on eBay for about 2 months now. I'm still unsure which one is better. It's just the shipping on ebay kind of kills it for profits.
100 bulk cards profiting at $2.50 after fees and shipping.
200 bulk cards profiting at $9.00
after fees and shipping.
So basically the more they buy from me the more the profit is.
Once they buy more than 300 cards, it can no longer fit in a small flat rate box, so then shipping becomes like $13 at that point and I lose money again :/
It isn't easy, but it is totally possible to be profitable. In my opinion, the biggest upside to bulk is the availability of inventory that exists.
@@TheLabTCG Yeah, there's surprisingly almost an infinite amount of bulk out there that people are even giving away for free.
Do you have any advice for someone just started selling on tcg? I have 100 cards posted shipping at .99 and still don't get any orders. I keep my prices at or below market value. I must be doing something wrong. I'm just not sure what. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Nick, I'd recommend you join the discord. There are a ton of sellers in there that can help, and I am in there as well!
Dang good looking out on those judge cards. I just pulled some out that I've been meaning to enter
No problem! Get that money!
Thanks for the comment Chris! That is awesome to hear, it truly is a good way to open a specialty shop.
Genius! I didn't know about the monster pads. I'll definitely be buying some
They are so awesome!
Wait, so listing cards at a premium on TCGplayer can work? I’ve noticed that when I lost cards for their market value or higher they never sell, but I think that might just be because I am not a level 4 seller yet
Yeah, seller rating, quantity, and opportunity all kinda play together. I'm never in a rush to sell my inventory, so that helps.
Great video! Tons of good info here.
Thank you Lance!
Just curious how many hours you put into it you think in the 30 days?
A lot, most of my weekends were spent getting everything back up and running.
Great information and recommendations! Thank you! 🎉
Thank you Ian! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks! At the moment, I don't ship internationally. I'm not sure if that would work.
@@TheLabTCG ok, ty for answer
How much time did you put in this month?
A lot, most of my weekends in Jan were spent sorting and listing cards.
Great video buddy I'm starting my side hustle
You got this!
Killing it bro
Thanks, Wesley! I've been watching your content for a while. It's good to see you here!
@@TheLabTCG i just found your channel a month ago
How much inventory do you need for tcg player direct?
I believe it is somewhere close to 10,000. Not 100% sure, it is posted on their website.
Can you have one inventory for tcgplayer direct and one for plain white envelopes on the same account?
Hey Francisco, thanks for the comment! Unfortunately you cannot. The inventory is combined. If you raise your shipping cost, you can reduce the amount of orders that come through regular marketplace.
Bro i know you know what your talking about because I do the same with multiple cards especially when i have multiple. You can hike the price and make it a competitive market.
Absolutely, the race to the bottom isn't worth it. Being a good seller and having the quantities people want is worth the higher price!
Fantastic hustle
Thank you!
Thanks dude!
No problem!
Actually pretty interesting, little thing though, I know it’s hard but less stuttering or breath pauses can make a huge difference in a video, feels more professional and that
Thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to improve the videos week by week, so this will be used at some point!
Just an FYI your TCG player store link isn’t working
Thanks Erik, i'll look into that.
Love the video bro got a new sub
Thanks for the sub! Welcome!
Never thought of selling on there but considering it now, good info!
No problem! TCGPlayer is an excellent place to sell pokemon cards.
Personally as someone who orders a lot from tcgplayer and a long time tcgplayer subscriber I prefer to not order from direct every card I get from them has insane curling/warping idk if they store their cards in a super humid environment or what but it’s ridiculous.
That is fair. I don't usually order from direct as a customer either. Great service for sellers though.
man this is amazing content. glad i came accorded this channel ❤
Glad you enjoy it! Welcome!
You have all that inventory after 30 days of selling cards?
I bought a collection at the start of January for $2k. I've been selling pokemon cards for years, but closed my business last summer for an internship opportunity. This is the 30 day progress report since starting from 0 sales thirty days ago
@@TheLabTCG Thanks for clarifying. I have been trying to sell as a business and have been going for a few months but hadn't expanded into using the buylist and reselling bulk. I have a lot of bulk and sealed products but turnover has been slow. And tips/tricks there? You probably have a vid on it that I haven't seen yet. Just found your content. Good perspective and much appreciated.
@@benjaminkappler2255 no problem! My channel has over 40 videos covering all things selling pokemon cards. Give those a watch and feel free to email me with any questions!
What about a garage sale😂
Judge from fusion strike is at $1.54 rn. Thanks for the tip there.
Yessirrrrr ez money
I don’t agree wit the last part, if u want to do it , then do it, but just know it’s a lot of work, and if ur willing to do the work then go for it, but if ur looking for a easy buck then know this isn’t it lol it’s a lot of hard work to run a store and to run a online store
I believe that is what I said at the end of the video. It's hard work and not easy.
Great stuff buddy
Thank you Thomas!
You're awesome brother keep it up
Thanks! Will do!
You could technically do 30¢ witch could make your listing stand out
For sure, I could experiment with higher prices.
So you're the reason my all three of my .75 judges sold out lol
Yeah probably haha
@@TheLabTCG I'd love to hear your opinion on Card Trader. I started selling there about a month ago and it's been pretty okay, it's basically TCGplayer Direct, but there's no barrier to entry and it automatically syncs your TCGplayer inventory.
@@ars273 I am in the works of getting started with them. Stay tuned!
Seeing a case of Evolving Skies go for $2000 in 2024 😩😩
Yo this is amazing for Americans, great advice for them.. any idea on the workings of other countries?
Hey Joshua, thanks for the comment! This is a good point. Unfortunately, I don't know much about selling Pokémon cards outside of the United States. Soon I might be introducing a new platform that allows me to help out here a little bit more.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but haven't you been selling Pokemon cards for years now? 😅
Never disappointed Will!
Amazing content and information as always.
I wish we had TCG player in the UK so I could try out some of these methods. 👊👊
Thanks Joe! Hopefully they expand out there soon. I'll have to start making more ebay content to diversify the channel.
Great video
Thanks a ton!
Excited to see what changes when Scarlett and Violet drop
I'll definitely be talking about it!
Yo who's paying 2k for a case of evolving skies? I can get them for around 1500-1600 all day where I'm from, we can split the profits 😂
Tcgplayer customers, they have been selling around 2.2k on there for a while. Definitely try to sell some if you can get them that low!
@@TheLabTCG I'm from eu, 250 a box is pretty much going rate. Seems to be a small premium on cases though. Not sure about selling to USA since we don't pay taxes on anything. Strange how you guys are paying so much more for evolving skies, but everything else is so much cheaper
@@CAeuJohno123 yeah it is interesting. There definitely is a case premium!
Yeah, I can't live on $320 a month. The profit is huge percentage wise but let's be real
Sure, this is true. Successful businesses aren't built in 30 days.
How we doing 2024?
2,000 for a evolving skies booster box? 😂
