The sad truth is they can still have plenty of female representation in the show if they want via Sisters of Battle (who are really popular but Amazon doesn't like because they are too "religious," which is hilarious because the entire Imperium is religious fanatics), Sisters of Silence (who Amazon doesn't like because they're deaf, irony not lost on me), and of course via the Inquisition and Astra Militarum (which already have prominent female characters in the lore). And that's not accounting for the Aeldari, with prominent female characters like Yvraine. It's not diversity they're after, it's the woke ideology that women should always be portrayed doing anything important in a story that a man can do, like be a space marine. Men can't have their own space. It's not diversity, but straight up misandry.

Well thats kind of the point now which is why they just changed custodian lore an want female space marines so they can say see its in the lore then Henry would be forced to do it because then it's lore accurate they plan to screw him one way or another. I'm usually the guy who says "who cares?" when it comes to racial or gender swaps in movies or TV, but sexism is a core detail in many parts of the 40k universe and a descriptor of how far into the dark age they're sliding. Why they didn't just choose to work lore-friendly female characters into the story is beyond me. They could have chosen Adepta Sororitas, Inquisitors, Imperial Guard...There is plenty of room for female characters without having to retcon lore.

It's not that Amazon chose him, Henry wanted to make a WH40K movie, and Amazon was found to be the investor/presenter, and then the stuff happened. That's how I remember when Henry was announcing the stuff.

The part where they want to add without proper planning is a problem. If they reach out to him and ask about a possibility, then make good character design with it resonating with the lore, then might be a good idea if properly planned properly. However, I doubt this one will be a good idea. Only way I’d see is if it’s good character writing while keeping true with the lore, and making lore that makes sense. There’s also battle sisters that they could use, since they’re confirmed. We also got groups like the guardsmen which can complement as long as if they’re good character design, like the good major back in space marines 2. She spoke like a guardsman they desperately need, and show herself to be a valuable asset to the empire. The fact that guardsmen are expendable doesn’t deter her, but maybe motivated her. It’s different as she has a good side character role, a loyal major. As long as if it makes sense, it should be done. That’s what I believe in. If it doesn’t, then don’t put it in.

The 40k universe is HUGE, you can make up pretty much anything without breaking the lore, just by adding something new.
Also it is already extremely diverse and inclusive by definition: al long as one is a faithful servant of The Emperor, nobody cares about one's skin color, body type or what he/she/it/whatever has between the legs.
The fans' rage was not because of those female Custodes per se (that by itself is not a big deal), but because of this sudden, unreasonable and just out of the blue retconing of an established lore.

Biggest issue i find with modren cinema is, sort of trying to play all inclusive.
Have the best actors play the characters, and focus on story and writing itself that should be the goal.
We have lost so many franchises over the last decade. To name a few agree or not; Marvel has gone downhill since the new woke agenda, Star Wars isn't what it used to be, Amazon have already destroyed their rings of power series, Witcher is dead and I'm dreading the release of the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series. I totally agree with the quote of "if they wont make it lore accurate then don't release anything at all". These companies need to realise that the reason why these IP's are so huge and beloved is because of the backing of the fans and our passion for these franchises. We invest so much time immersing ourselves into the lore of these worlds as well as their rich history and it goes far beyond that of a simple one off random movie or series.

Better to not have a show or movie if its going to contradict the established lore. As we've seen with Star Wars, you can't just through fan service names and events together into a soup and expect fans to love it across the board. I trust Henry to care for the IP, and its entirely possible the best he can do it kill the project rather than let it become something the fans hate.

I think we need to accept that some of the fans are indeed toxic. I have often met the type of guy who clearly has no social skills and due to watching to much youtube or whatever will starting yelling and being absolutely disagreeable and shall we say acting like a child. What we need, to counter the move of Amazon is cool level heads and present the facts as they are, just like Henry Cavill does. We should aspire to act like him rather than a raging teenager as the later only hurts our reputation.
I also think that when GW offers to have women as Astartes that it cheapens the Sisters of Battle as suddenly they become obsolete since now women are everywhere. This sort of move only shows that whomever is in charge at Amazon, they clearly did not read the lore and does not care to know it. Even Malcador mentions in one of the stories that he questioned the wisdom of the emperor by not also having daughters as primarch as it would have brought more harmony and balance between the primarchs.
We can all be fans and love everything about W40k however, it doesn't permit us to throw a tantrum at every misstep. We have seen it for all the other shows that have screwed up due to this ideology by individuals who only wish to benefit from the fan base of a story without actually doing the leg work. I would consider myself a huge gamer, and in my eyes Henry is a gamer like myself, he plays of course much fewer games, but still he loves it, and he has some variety he does play, not a single game. Where a pro-gamer, which I would consider professional league player, hence the "pro", are mainly playing just 1-2 games max in their career, it is their career to be a pro-gamer, but I wouldn't call them gamers, just pro-gamers that are on a parallel level of gaming, but not above average gamer who plays multiple games thorough their life.

Female Custodes is not a stretch. Frachise wise, it is not a very popular faction and can do w some revisions. Henry Cavill may actually bring in female fans looking to start a new faction w the Custodes. This give them another option asides the Sisters of Battle. Now drastic changes to others things that are well established like Female Astartes would be terrible to the lore and should get push back. Even male versions of the Sisters of Silence...etc. I think its a good stand for Cavill to protest and stop Amazon from further making lore changes. I think they will move forward and we can have our first 40K show.
