The agar agar is basically like gelatin. Also for price try “Alginate” Also, for things like Jello, you leave it in the fridge for four hours. Why they expect you have it ready in an hour at room temperature, IDK
I know its kinda late, but jello is gelatine based, which needs cold to get, well, like jelly, while agar agar doesn't need to be cold to stay firm! This still didn't work, but that's just good to know.
@@titfish4746 Just wanted to write the same. Actually the melting point of a one percent of agar containing Gel is around 50°C. At 1cm of thickness it will take around 25min to solidify. Also there is a difference between agarose and agar agar (the stuff the kid included most probably), as agarose won't smell but is also a bit more expensive. Lab tech out.
Jackie! Royalty Soaps tried a jelly candle crafting kit and she called you out as one of her dream collabs! I'd love to see you guys get together! Also review the jelly candle kit!
More time in the fridge wouldn’t have much of an affect on it, you would have to add more of the agar. It is basically a seaweed based gelatin so it acts very much like Jell-O The more concentrated it is easier it is to mold. like when you add the extra gelatin to make jigglers that you can pick up. Unless it was highly concentrated it would melt.
Because it's a plant based gelatin product it's water to agar ratio varies as the potency is unpredictable and it's wise to use more than stated in recipies. Side fact agar is also used in labs for culture growths - agar plates.
Kat2873 your an idiot it is vegan as in it doesn't contain any animal products so you would call it vegan because that's what it is for, for Vegans that would need to use it for something oh I forgot that you can't use it if it's for vegans! Now honey go back to 5th grade

Just trying to help out as Ive worked with this stuff for 10 years. Love your reviews!!!
I feel like the environment could be a factor too. Like if it’s too humid/dry when mixing tree could be errors and that’s why they noted at the end to add more agar.

Kudos to companies like this who actually want real feedback to improve their products and not just forced praise to stroke their ego (and bank account) Companies that can handle the salt definitely are worth a look when one is looking for a new creative activity.
This is actually a really good way for companies to see what is wrong with their kit and what is good. More companies should do this as a quality control kind of thing so they can improve their product... or maybe not because North American companies don’t give a flying salt grain about quality 😑

Agar agar is basically a vegan gelatin substitute derived algae. You can find it in Asian and health food stores. A single 25g package of it cost about 2.00 USD per 25g at my local international market so 0.20 grams of the stuff would be approx. 44.8 cents worth of agar agar. It dissolves in boiling temperatures and sets to full hardness at room temp. I wonder what would happen if you heated up an agar solution on the stove, then added the soap base before letting it set. Disclaimer: I'm shit at math so my conversation must be way off.
The agar seaweed mix is just agar agar. Which is just a derivative from seaweed. It is used in those see through cakes in Japan that have floral motifs in them. Also used in other applications in the food industry.
