// LYRICS
Destined as the servant to the night
Where your moon dreams of the dirt
And the sharp tongue of your zealous will
Is only congruent with the salt in your mouth
And the approaching eulogy of the world
Is only congruent with the salt in your mouth
And the approaching eulogy of the world
Lost in the patterns of youth and the ghost
Of your aches comes back
To haunt you
And the forging of change makes no difference
Makes no difference
Memories fly through the mask of your life
Shielding you from time
The years that birthed the shell
That you gained, hunched over in apathetic grief
With a disregard for steps
Except the one taken back
Perched up on a rope, crafted in smoke
A sword wielding death that buried your hope
Focusing on light through the blinds
A slave to reality under a monarch in the sky
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly
Lost in the patterns of youth
Where the windows shine brightly
Back at you
Brightly back at you
Brightly back at you

Can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. I really connected with this album right off the bat when it first came out and I was one of its most loyal defenders against all the backlash it received at the time. It has become one of my favorite albums of all time and still stays in heavy rotation for me. Happy 10 years to this masterpiece! It’s passed in the blink of an eye
people didnt like this album??? dang
Didn't Sunbather receive nearly universal critical acclaim at its release?
@@anthonyblundetto4909 yeah. But not from audiences. Lots of hate and backlash when it first came out
@@anthonyblundetto4909it got hate from the "trve kvlt"ists aka the "real black metal fans" I think
Bring Back Deafheaven to Deathwish
If only.... 😭
this is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life
Does anyone else remember turning into an insufferable person immediately after hearing this album ~10 years ago
The section at 7:10 is so powerful and emotional. I shake my head every time… and the remix sounds incredible
Deafheaven's masterpiece imo. Beautiful remaster I can't wait for the full album to release.
Vertigo my beloved
so blissful and soulful, i'm so grateful to deafheaven and will always love this beautiful album. congratulations on the anniversary release!
I like how big this sounds now, but the mastering I’m honestly not sure on. I don’t know how many people noticed, but I’m noticing that it sounds crispier than the original.
It does sound crispier
This didn’t really *need* a remaster AND remix, but I’m about to board a flight and see how it hits on my earbuds.
The new Pink Floyd Animals remix was a major disappointment for me so I’m hoping another cherished album isn’t unpleasantly ruined
@@Gumbo72203 we'll always have the original anyway
Are there any other differences your picking up on? Not to say that there isn't any I just don't know what to listen for
@@mattemery4081it’s a little bit wider and it has a bit more weight, it’s a lot easier to notice with headphones
WOAH, I can finally hear the guitar solo and George's vocals are pushed to the front a bit!
Amazing song. 11:48 still hits so hard.
Still blissful
Best summer album
OK, I wasn't expecting much from a remix/remaster but damn, this sounds so good!
this visualizer is hella nice
preordering today, sounds great + sunbather emotionally hits me so hard
edit to add: missed the vertigo mix edition 😭😭😭 but secured the splatter ones at revolver. can't wait for november 17th!!
what a throwback! and nice remix/master
Sounds great
I was in high school when this dropped 😢
I was in college if that makes you feel any better!
20 to 30 😭
Awwww guys we old
This album has a lot more punk rock influence than their other ones
Lost in the patterns of youth, where the windows shine brightly back at you...
Bring back the Sunbather blankets for sale
Such a powerful and soaring song, I love this song to death
Nice!
i am in love
7:12
Are they going to play the full album on their fall tour?
No.
i cant wait to hear dream house and the pecan tree remastered
I think I liked the original better it was softer, warmer and bassy. Fits the sound of the album
Original is too flat sounding. New mix has better bass
@@bitbat9 fr
Oooh wuts this? Did every track on Sunbather get this treatment for the 10 year anniversary?
Yes, full album remaster out in November
@@SanskarWagley that's amazing.
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
i guess it's less muddy but i have the felling of some distortion here and there
Does it need a remaster? It was recorded so recently, relatively speaking, that it sounds the same now as it did when Sunbather was released.
It's a remix and a remaster, along with a repress. Audio producing and editing technology has made incredible progress in the past 10 years alone, so it makes some sense.
@@jakedietrich8302 fair enough
I think is good for the record. Jack Shirley was stepping foward in his producer career, the technics have improved too. And the vocals of George sounds more organic in this mix. Using Audiotechnica's M50X headphones. Tonight given a listen with the Sundaras from Hifiman
@@jakedietrich8302If only they remastered the new album so it wasn't bland saccharine shoegaze 😀
@@ThatOneGuy7550 I'm fine with great saccharine shoegaze with blast beats when it's done this well.
If only they didn't release a mid tier shoegaze album and gave us heavier music ala Black Brick. If half the songs sounded like Mombasa I would've been happy
At least we have Mombasa ❤
Oh, I loved Infinate Granite. Such a beautiful album. Nice and ethereal. I thought the brief return to black metal vocals on Mombasa was kind of odd.
@iv-500 imo that's what madr Mombasa a great track it's so cathartic. Anyways I saw Deafheaven live over the summer and all the Sunbather tracks owned, the Infinite Granite songs were OK
@@ThatOneGuy7550 I saw them in May. Everything sounded great. It was interesting having the lighter tracks mixed in with the heavier ones. But I mean. Sunbather was like that in a way with instrumental tracks.
IG is another masterpiece of an album, it's just another genre. Definitely not "mid-tier".
I do wonder what their next album will sound like. They're relativizing their sound into nothingness. It wouldn't surprise me if it sounded like a game of pong or at best a crap Tycho.
I hope it sounds like Sunbather
Wtf. Infinite Granite was brillant.
