    I wonder if homeless people, who will be jailed, will think about illegal migrants being housed with federal, municipal and state funds, that government refused to use to house the poorest Americans.

    We need a national conversation about mental health. Many of these people are seriously ill with drug addiction.

    Great solution! Bravo on getting them into shelters as needed. Their stubborn refusal to get clean and to stop treating our streets like junk yards leaves us dignified to walk our streets safely.

    • @MorgueInTheVoid
      @MorgueInTheVoid День тому

      Do you know why so many homeless are on drugs? It's because people like you assume every homeless person is on drugs and that assumption leads you to treat them like they aren't worth helping so they can't get their life back together on their own. I hope to God you never have to face poverty and homelessness. Imagine getting into a severe accident that causes partial paralysis leaving you unable to work and there's nothing you can do other than sit and watch your bills skyrocket with no income coming in. You're just a human with a disability. Not a scum bag drug addict.

    I don't know where that one woman is getting her so-called facts regarding a majority of the homeless are looking for housing. You go out there and you offer him a place to stay and they'll turn you down. Offer them money or drugs and they'll take it in a heartbeat.

    Rules and laws can only be applied to people with capital as a means of deterent. Why are we building prisons to house people at a cost of 50-90k per individual per year to taxpayers. This will inevitably reach a budgetary limit and cause further harm, and in fact, it's because of these policies that has helped put us in a drug fill crime-ridden country now.
    In capitalism, anything that makes money is not a problem. This is very different in a moral country where certain principles are above profits. We have to look at everything we perceived as a problem like gun violence and see if there are huge profits from the violence like added police officers extra gun and ammo sales. From gun manufacturers to the corporations that provide prison food are making huge profits and would not like to see that money dry up.
    It's unfortunate, but homelessness has also been monetized by politicians who win races on the issue to outreach programs that siphon off millions to their administrators, all to which would not like to see all that money stop rolling in. That is why you see solutions like in this story that will do absolutely nothing to fix something that makes them money.

    Hi, 26 year old female here. Currently homeless and living in a car with my boyfriend and our two dogs. We're not on drugs. We're not bad people. We're not lazy. He's the only one working right now because I have to spend the day making sure the dogs don't die in this unbearable heat. We had an apartment but they raised the rent to over $2,000 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment. The stove was broken, the washer was broken, we had to replace the garage door opener with our own funds because the apartment complex never bothered getting around to any of these issues we brought to their attention multiple times. Then the price of rent skyrocketed and within a month, there was an eviction notice posted on 70% of the front doors in that complex, I'm not even exaggerating. Now it's even harder to find a new place to stay because of that eviction on our record. Homeless people aren't bad people. Most of them turn to drugs just to numb the pain they feel from the isolation and complete lack of direction or support. Be grateful you're in a home. Don't take that for granted.

      I'm in my car as well. I dont do drugs, I don't even drink alcohol. I go to work every day, i work out and stay in great health, I dont commit any crimes, etc. I'm just a normal guy. So many people don't realize how they are one emergency away from losing their home/apartment.
