You even get to see one of the missionaries correcting him when he aligns Christianity with Islam, when she points out the fundamental difference between the two - the first claims Jesus is our Saviour, died on the cross and was then resurrected, and the latter claims this to be untrue 🤔
@ yes but Mr Reed also says that their stories are very similar just in very different perspectives hence the idea of ittirations and the movie’s big message is criticism on religion, its history and it being taken at face value, Mr Reed maybe a psychopath but he is also correct in saying religion is control, its taken at face value by children and later never questioned despite seeing more evidence of its falseness than one can imagine

@@cobra8888 It has been proven time and time again that even bad publicity about our church attracts people's attention. As a missionary, I was often let in to speak about the church because people had heard negative things. When the movie Jesus Christ Superstar was released in Belgian cinemas (I wasn't a member of the church yet), I began reading the Bible for the first time. A week later, the missionaries came to the door, and I let them in for the first time. Nothing is worse than when people know nothing about the church; in that respect, bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. My granddaughter saw the film and now wants to serve a mission, and people who have seen the movie and recognize the sister missionaries at the door now also want to know more.
Judaism wasn't the OG monotheistic religion though. it was Zoroastrianism. Mr.Reed couldn't even nail that part. Great performance by the actors, nonetheless.
So basically he is saying that all religions are copycats, but if they are then there must be an original, and if there is an original it's either true or its a fairytale, how can we determine if it's a fairytale or not? , we come to conclusions based on where the evidence leads and where the scale weights most, when we cross examine the evidence by logic, historicity or even science. All religions have at least 'some' truth, However if the Bible is true, then any SPECIFIC claim that contradicts the bible must be false. for examp: ''Jesus was not crucified, he was not fully God and fully man''
To put it simply: Original religions were attempts to understand world around. Later they were used as the way of how to orient in confusing world by making rules and later expanded by adding details and slightly changing narative. By the time of Rome there were hundreds different deities to worhip. As the movie said "The big three" used elements from different believes of that time and simplified it into believe of the single deity (GOD).
For christianity to be true, not only the new testament has to be true, but the old one as well. Now i dont have a clue why you think all evidence suggests that they are. I would argue that there is overwhelming evidence that they are untrue
We can probably make an educated guess based on our current knowledge on science and human nature. Is there some supreme being that somehow still fits into our model of the universe, or did ancient humans come up with a way to explain and cope with the world around them?
The Madonna and Child in the background could be mistaken for the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, but it seems to be a different iteration of the Blessed Mother and the Child Jesus.

The OG Monotheism is not Judaism: it's Zoroastrianism. And Zoroastrianism is not only older but more "homegrown" so to speak; Judaism by contrast owes a great debt to Canaanite polytheism(s) and wholesale ripping off of Babylonian angelic myth.
