It's been very eventful out here lately! We FINALLY got a mini-split installed, a bunch of my old modeling posters blew all over the desert....and I came up with a great concept for my underground bunker here at the compound: I'M TURNING IT INTO A SUBMARINE!!!

Nautical theme idea: Put an old computer monitor behind porthole, you can pipe any ocean theme to that screen.

Before painting spray the room with a solution 1/3 bleach 2/3 water to take care of any mold. You should test for mold. Water seal any cement walls connected to the basement on the outside. You thought of turning the office into a beach tiki room with a cool surf vibe.

My boyfriend does AC work so i found this interesting😊 he had been saying all along "No doubt about it, Wonderhussy NEEDS to get a mini split!".. glad you got some air flowing right in time for the heat!

That high-end Fujitsu mini split setup was a great choice, considering both your dangerously hot location, and your high electric rates there. For what it is, $10K isn't bad for that 3-zone setup professionally installed.
50,000 creepsters are sad that you didn't give away the nudie posters in a drawing.

Your sister and you need to investigate getting some type of solar panels. That would save you a ton of money on your power bills.
Also, putting in this split minnie also added a chunk of money to your property if and when you decide to sell.

They def need solar panels and that system she has is not cheap on electric either maybe it might be for them out there but a local legion in my area has it and it cost alot on electricity

The best thing about solar is that it doesn't have to be all at once. You can add to it year after year. Who knows? You may find yourselves energy self-sufficient before you know it :-)

Home Depot and Lowes both sell a roll on coating for outdoor decks that can be custom colored and puts a decent walk on surface. I used it in my small camper. Behr Deck Over at home depot is what I used, and you can have texture put in it to cover stairs to reduce slipping.

Suggestion for submarine wall painting. Reverse life. In Florida, there was a restaurant that had a LARGE wall mero. It was a reverse life. The 2 guys in a boat on top of the water are fishing and the fish below had their own town, bar, etc. the restaurant was serving the fishermen's borrowed bait and the fish were dancing and having a great party laughing at the men fishing.

I can relate to "Home is a places some never find". I've never felt at home anywhere since I was about 12. 45 years later, after having traveled all over and spent considerable amounts of time in places I was sure would be the place for me, they weren't. As great as they were, I never felt at home. Now that I'm back in the town where I was born and raised and where most of my family is I still feel out of place and kinda lost.

Hi Sarah! here is some FYI for you to understand A/C, there is a high pressure side and a low pressure side, high pressure refrigerant passes thru an orifice or an expansion valve, this causes the gas to get real cold and this cold gas goes thru the evaporator coil which is what's attached to your wall, after the gas leaves the evap coil it goes to the condenser which is on the outside of your house where it gives off the heat that used to be in your room, then it gets sucked into the compressor and the cycle continues, lesson concluded

You will be happy to have rooms cooler! Enjoyed this video. We were on a walk around Artesian where we live and were near the dog park and a guy approached us and asked , “Are you the UA-camrs?” We answered yes and he told he was a subscriber and had watched all our UA-cam videos. We told him about you and your channel…..and he said he had found you and watched you as well. Small world! My first thoughts……The bunker room paint pale, pale yellow and make it like “We all live in a yellow submarine…..”. 20,000 Leagues is neat too! Flooring wood looking laminate for walking the plank…Kilz does work too.

Love your plans for the submarine bunker. A couple things come to mind though: you definitely need to do the radon and mold tests before making any improvements and, burning a candle down there without adequate ventilation is a sure source of trouble. Also, if you do have radon, ventilation is the answer. I also think you're going to need some sort of air conditioning unit to cool and move the air or it will become stuffy and unbearable when the temps rise. All in all, it's going to be a significant improvement to the compound.

Our house in Northern Nevada is partially underground and we had high levels of radon. We ended up spraying a radon gas sealant all over our floors and that really cut down on the radon levels. However, we still open up our windows and doors to the outside as much as we can. I would suggest adding an air intake/outflow with a fan into the submarine office to bring in fresh air and let radon and other gases escape. Looking forward to the makeover!
