Nissan Rogue Broken Wires and Drivers Door Problems

  • The Nissan Rogue came in with a common issue - the driver's side door windows weren't working. While it could be a variety of things... broken wires in the door is the usual.
    I do a test, prove it out, and make a simple repair. With a little patience this is a simple, low cost fix for a really common problem.

    Our 2015 has I think the same problem. All the wires between the door the casing is cracked so the wires started breaking. I submitted the issue with Nissan but so far no recall. I don't think the wire casing should be so weak to break and due to that cause the wires to break also. We had tons of older cars and the wiring was never a problem.
    They said if more people let them know of they have the same issue they may start a recall (not sure how many people they are talking about). But I tried.
    The dealer said he never heard of something like that happening in his 20 years working with Nissan🧐...and look at this...found this great youtube video!!

    The drivers side door lock on our 2015 Rogue went yesterday. I noticed when jiggling the harness as it comes into the door that I could get it to work with the key fobe, but when I shut the door completely it would no longer lock, jiggled it a few more times and now it does not lock regardless of where the door is in an open or shut position. Got a quote of $600 to replace the door harness, once I work up the nerve I might just try disconnecting the boot to see if I can find a broken wire . . everything else works so I have to believe it is a broken wire or short . . . thank you for this video . . it gives hope!

    Like a pro! 👍 I did the same repair on my 34 year old car like a week ago. New cars have thinner wires tho.

      You'd think in 34 years they'd have figured this out.

    You were so right. Darn wire was cut/separated. I put it back together and the window now works after many, many months not working!!! I highly recommend removing the battery cables because having the door open drained the battery. Could not get the vehicle started. I tested the battery. Was at 7V. I then had to use my portable jumper to restart the engine.

    The wires in my harness appear to be aluminum, and won't take solder.

    What gauge wire did you use to add more slack?

  • @markshriber2753
    @markshriber2753 Рік тому

    I think if you can't reach the wire add on an extra wire I'm gonna see how my wife's is and see what I can do. I know I will have a struggle because I have disability problems!!! I had 3 failed surgeries and my left hand is dead due to a broken wrist and a lot of nerve damage in the arm

    Anyone here can fix this for me in Denver, Colorado or nearby areas? I don’t have the ability to do this repair. The door motor and switch is fine according to the Nissans dealership, I paid $180 diagnosis for 1 hour…and the switch is new so I know its not the switch…and they want more time to further diagnose why drivers window will not open. All other windows are fine.. they don’t know what the problem is as want to go into the dashboard for more hourly diagnosis at $180 per hour and are now saying to drop off the car and its gonna be 3 hours of diagnosis and $180 per hour plus the cost of fixing whatever it is they find… maybe its the same problem in this video and they missed it? I am NOT saying they are wrong and they seem correct thus far however Their middleman was hard to talk to and get info last time I called there . ya talk to a middle man, not the mechanic. They wouldn’t even answer my question of “ what is the most common cause of this problem in your 2014 Nissan rogues” ?
