      @@GardenSanity don’t make me come there!!! Lol. I think your bunnies took a ride and landed in my garden because they are “ pruning” so many plants and luckily ones I grew from seed! Ugh! They were not so crazy in the past so these are definitely Jersey bunnies 😂😂😂😂😳

    I love the elevation the topiaries bring to the garden. Great idea.

      Thanks! And yes, I’m hoping I will have a good handle on the lavender going forward. 🤞 The scent is indeed hard to resist! 🙂

    Beautiful! I love lavender, have a lot in my small yard. I have an imperfect topiary lavender too, just love the character it has!

      Why thank you! It’s been a tougher Summer than usual this year with not only heat and humidity but also multiple days in a row of rain at a time. 🙃🙂

      Yes I’m so glad I didn’t get rid of all of them! When they bloom I instantly am reminded how much I love this lavender. I hope you can enjoy yours next year! 🙂

    ❤ your imperfect lavender topiaries - magical!! Obviously the hummers think so too 😊 We’ve also had the Canadian wildfire smoke here in northern virginia - there’s a bit of black spot on my mandarin honeysuckle foliage, new growth is fine - I think it’s just been a rough summer weather wise

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Рік тому

      Awww… Thanks for calling them magical! 😊 Isn’t that crazy that the Canadian wildfire smoke reached you there in VA. Something I think most of us haven’t dealt with before. Yes it has indeed been a rough Summer with the weather. Maybe by the Fall my roses will look good. 🙃🙂

    Yeah, my roses have the same affliction. Let’s blame the wildfires. You should try an Aha Tiny Tuff Stuff hydrangea. It’s my best performer in what’s been a tough year. No purple spots and no bunny damage.

      I realize my specious reasoning for the Knockouts is a stretch 🙂 but it’s as if the black spot descended overnight during a dry and pleasantly mild stretch. 🤔 I’m definitely curious about the Aha Tiny Tuff Stuff. I wonder if it would fry in this Summer heat. How’s your heat been?

      @@GardenSanity No problems. No wilt. Mine only get about an hour of direct sun.

      That’s fantastic to hear! I think once my backyard trees get larger to provide more shade, I’ll be able to add one. I’ve already filled up the shade areas this year.

    Thanks for the update on the lavender, I have the same kind and for over 4 years I didn’t know it had to be cut back, it will be done this fall and mine was spreading kind of low on the ground, Do you ever fertilize your lavender? It was cool seeing the hummingbird

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Рік тому +1

      Hi Gail, I don’t regularly fertilize my Lavender, they don’t really need it if the soil is good. Maybe every other year. I use Plant-tone by Espoma worked into the soil around each Lavender plant. 👍 Yes, that little hummingbird made my day! 🩷

      @@GardenSanity okay thanks I haven’t fertilized mine either, saw hummingbird once in my garden but by the time I fumbled for my phone it was gone

    I lost a fairly new rose bush and I don’t know what happened either, it bloomed like crazy last year which was it’s second year, we’ve had horrible air quality from Canada, I’m in Michigan zone 6 , I’m hoping it’s a fluke and will come back next year 😢
    Blessings 💜💚

    • @GardenSanity
      @GardenSanity  Рік тому

      I wonder too Gail, if the horrible air has anything to do with the roses, yet everything else is fine…except that most everything is blooming much later this year. 🤔 I’m really hoping it’s a fluke too. I hope your rose bounces back next year. 🌹

      @@GardenSanity yes now that you mention it, seems my hibiscus are getting a late start also. I thought they were dead unless I’m just getting forgetful in my senior years 😄

    Love your videos!
    I have a question about my dappled willow shrub which exploded and us now higher than our 6 ft fence. I really want to cut it back but I remember from your videos not to do this in the heat of summer. When should I do this so it doesn’t grow out of control? Fall?
