I bought the MF a couple of months ago. This is my first foray into the world of synthesizers and this is the first tutorial I have come across that explains things in a way that a complete newbie like me can understand. Now I can intentionally create the music I want to.
Excellent tutorial! One feature of the MicroFreak that I don't think you touched on is how you can edit almost any parameter on each individual step of the sequence. So instead of having an imprecise knob movement recorded across the entire sequence you can dial in exact knob positions for each step. For instance, I used this with the speech oscillator shape setting (word selection) to have the sequence say a specific string of words. This synth makes my head explode with all the modulation possibilities!
It is so amazing how detail and clear you are in this video, it is definitely the best out there! I’d say it is even better than Arturia’s own tutorial
arturia's own tutorial was pretty bad, the killer was them using external paddles and shit. plus they explained things like anyone who was buying it knew exactly what they were talking about. def don't go to that tutorial if you're a beginner
Just ordered a MF this morning after watching a few video reviews last night. Continuing with more this evening, I am more and more stoked. Can’t wait to have this thing!! Thanks for the outstanding tutorial/review!! So good!
Wow. Information. Instruction. Ideas. Comprehensive & comprehendible. I'm just the latest to say THANK YOU SO MUCH! You're really helping a lot of people CREATE.
Amazing video, thank you! You have a very clear and concise way of explaining everything, very thorough yet to the point. Just ordered a used micro freak and very excited to get to know this little beast!!
Fantastic overview of this synth. Probably one of the best reviewers out there IMHO. Clear, detailed and no waffle, and an engaging tone of voice. Thank you 🙏👍 Look forward to watching more of your content 👍
One of the best MicroFreak videos and makes me want one all the more. Actually ordered one. Hope Arturia always gets you new synths as you are quite an asset. Subscribed. 😃
Thank you for taking the time to make that video. Best explanations i found online. I will try to mix the sound of the microfreak (i expect it in a week) with the mc 101 and the handpans..lets see what it will become. All the best to you!Subscribed and thankful for your work :))
Thank you thank you thank you... Very very informative and clear. Now I understand my machine much better. No fancy-pancy words just to act smart... GREAT video
I can only add to what others said - but this is an amazing tutorial! Liked and subscribed. I look forward to seeing more of your videos appearing in the recommended bar. You're a great teacher and have really helped me in truly understanding the power of this wonderful little synth. Arturia should hire you because this acts as a better sales pitch for the potential of the microfreak more than any of their official videos!
superb! excellent stuff. bought it, just waiting for it. it could be a very synthy Christmas if it arrives tomorrow! your video has really jazzed me up for it! subscribed!
This is a realy pedagogic video ! It's very clear. Thanks a lot. Something more : the video is nice and well-buylt. At the end, I feel myself as a musician... ;-)
Thanks! Totally usefull information and covers all the features clearly. I'm finding this synth fun and easy to understand now that I've read the manual and watched some tutorials. Thanks especially for your explanation of the sequencer automation.
@@Woochia I tried sync last night, you're right mate, its glitchy sometimes. I'm happy though, the sequencer in real time mode with a drum machine running is awesome. I'm a shit keyboard player but this let's me just throw notes and chords at it until I get a good sequence. Very cool.
16:24 Lesser known fact about MF's fm engine is that feedback is a two way dial, 0 is full negative feedback, 50 is no feedback, and 100 is full positive feedback, I stumbled upon this information reading the plaits manual (because it's a little more informative about some engines that've been ported to MF) but maybe it's written somewhere in the MF manual too
I would really appreciate if you made a dedicated video for the matrix, including analytical information on how to use it to achieve what sound, more patch ideas etc. A "Matrix for dummies" short of tutorial 😅

Can you simultaneously sequence the Microbrute's notes and an external synth's notes by CV/MIDI? If that is possible, can the external synth's notes be different than the Microbrute's sequenced notes ?
@@Woochia talking about live... I've had unpredictable keys behavior if I use the MF with sweaty hands (which is normal if you're dancing in front of a crowd while playing). I've considered replacing it with a ML, a Bass Station II or something like that (normal keys.) The bass Station II even has aftertouch sensibility. However I love the MF's sound so I might just carry it along with a MIDI controller to get a reliable playing. Have you had any issues with keys? If so, any ideas to make it better?

Stellar tutorial content, but what’s with that thumping noise every time you play a key? It plagues the whole video and affects the MF sounds. Maybe isolate your synth from the table next time, with a cheap foam pad? Or don’t attach your mic stand straight on the table? Nevertheless, awesome tuto so thanks for sharing !!
Yes that was due to a bad way of setting things up while filming. I now record differently and I also mute the mic when the synths are playing during the video editing now.

Can you hook a controller up to this if you don't want to use the touch keys on the micro freak to make the micro freak the slave
