I grew up in an Independent Baptist church. A couple months ago, I was exposed to Catholicism through a coworker. The first time I attended the Latin Mass was pretty much the nail in the coffin for me to make the decision to convert. So now I'm in that process. Thank you guys for these videos that are also helping me.
We’ll be praying for you. God bless you. This is a difficult time for the faith and for the Bride of Christ. God must have a big mission to call you to covert at a time like this. Esther 4:14
Overall makes it easier to be Catholic. ❤ 1. Ease of getting to confession (always 30 min before mass) 2. Ease of getting items blessed. In/out table in foyer. 3. Ease of disposing of blessed items. 4. Homilies do not insult my intelligence. 5. Foundation of the mass does not insult my intelligence. 6. Contemplative nature - it draws you in and helps you learn to pray. 7. Absolution before communion and communion on tongue. 8. Liturgical year more easily understood. 9. Lives of saints often taught. 10. Priests have comportment and are well educated ❤
A proper high mass with the full vestments, incense, choir, organ, and everything, is personally for me the most beautiful thing I can even imagine. I think it’s the most beautiful thing in the universe. It’s perfect in every way
Wonderful talk! The parish I go to now has a sung mass every Sunday at 10. Asperges, choir, incense, reverence! It’s glorious and I’m so grateful for it. I truly feel close to Heaven for that time. And I know this is trivial, but my veil smells like incense all week, so I can relive it anytime!
I was born in 1946 in Cuba & went to Catholic School all my life. I had the Latin Mass every day in school until this new Mass started & I dropped out of my Catholic Chirch. I felt it was a Protestant Mass, I still do. When JESUS WAS EXPOSED & WE WENT IN, WE ALWAYS KNELT WITH BOTH KNEES & DROPPED OUR HEAD TO THE FLOOR, PROSTRATING OURSELVES IN FRONT OF OUR LORD ANS SAVIOR, OUR KING. I DID THAT HERE AT CHURCH IN GA. AND PEOPLE THOUGHT I HAD FALLEN & WERE TRYING TO HELP ME UP. NEVER DID IT AGAIN. ALSO I CAN'T STAND HAVING A WOMAN GIVING COMMUNION WHEN THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE IN CHURCH. I EXPECT THE PRIEST TO DO HIS JOB, IF IT TAKES 10 EXTRA MINUTES FOR MASS, SO BE IT. I AM 77 & THE ONLY LATIN MASS IS 1 1/2 HOURS OR MORE AWAY FROM ME. I ALMOST NEVER DRIVE ANY MORE. MY PARISH IS 10 MILES FROM HOME. BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN GOING. I WILL CHANGE THAT WITH OUR BLESSED MOTHERS HELP!
Go because it gives Honor and Glory to Almighty God, as it is the Mass He instituted to give Himself to us, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. A reverent way to Adore God. Pray the Rosary every day and have Faith and Hope in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior 🙏
Reverence is a huge part of it. I had a mass at St Joes in Ronk. NY with 2 altar boys and a girl, while at ST. Michaels in Farmingville, NY, they had 6 Altar boys and Alter Man or 2. You would t think at a Christmas mass, they might have some respect, but No it's all greed so they could build more failing parishes, instead or One Fortress for GOD's Home
Reverence. Beauty. Latin. Gives glory to God instead of mocking Him. No gender confusion. No laity doing priestly work. No communion in the hand. It's not a modernist banquet, but the Mass of all times. Imparts Catholic doctrine. Inspires more piety. Obtains more graces.
@@tomgreene1843 Apart from the problem of questionable sacraments in the NO, you can't just consecrate bread and wine in any ceremony, in any environment, and think it's good enough. Otherwise, the Church wouldn't have developed beautiful liturgy, full of reverence and meaning. In the NO, people aren't properly formed, so even when they receive actual sacraments, they tend to receive them poorly. Besides, Protestant-like liturgy fails to give glory to God as He expects us to. This is why I said what said.
❤️@@tomgreene1843 The Eucharistic High Mass is like dinner in the household. Servants in the fields may take picnics "on the grass" but never replace it-and tend to come to dinner on the highest occasion, but cannot dismiss the household servants set over the property. Overseers may look over the fields but ultimately answer to the Lord of the house. Jesus wants co-heirs. Do not settle for the fields.❤️
I grew up going to a Baptist church but always had a feeling that I was not in the right place. For about 8 years I just stopped going to church or really caring at all. The last few years I have been the worst version of myself, for the past month I have grown a desire to reconnect with God and have been going for really the first time a Catholic Church. I can remember the feeling when I first walked in like I was coming home. I haven’t talked to anyone in the church yet but I want to keep growing my relationship and learning about what being a true Catholic is.
I am 50 and haven’t ever been to church, but last year something made me desire to go. I decided to go to a Catholic Church first. The only church 2,000 years old with the most history, tradition and under current attack with the most enemies in our disturbing modern culture. From the first words in Latin, I felt moved. As I read along, I got tears in my eyes and felt choked up at the magnitude of recognizing my sins and my desire to be worthy of the promises of Christ. I still get choked up every single time. I think you’ve made the right move.
First latin mass I went to was a low mass, and I think that's exactly what attracted me to it, maybe even more than the high mass would have. That it was so different.. the silence and the peace I felt. I sat there just watching the mass, didn't even try to get what was happening. I was mesmerized. Been going ever since. I still go to novus ordo mass also sometimes, because it has been my parish almost all my life and I love the nuns and people there, I used to sing in the coir, and still do sometimes. But I do like the latin liturgy more. Latin mass is basically the mass and the eucharistic adoration all in one, that's the transformative power of it.
I attend a Pentecostal church. Yesterday I had a glimpse of a Latin Mass on UA-cam. It was a solemn high traditional mass. What reverence. What respect for the Lord. Most ladies wore a head scarf
The Catholic Church was founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Who started the Pentecostal "church" ? A man no doubt. Not Christ. Become Catholic....the benefits are eternal. 🙏🌴
The HOLY NAME, just 60 years ago Catholic men once a month honored the HOLY NAME JESUS collectively at these masses. Not during just the middle ages, It was called the HOLY NAME SOCIETY We need to do this again,
I am the sole care taker of my wife who has Parkinson’s and dementia. This makes it impossible to go to Mass. thou we have communion brought to us it is not the same. As much as I don’t want to lose her it is inevitable. When she leaves me I cannot wait to go to TLM & adoration. I’ve had to attend the NO in the past and found the “church” and service wanting. VERY wanting. Truthfully I have seen Protestant services more reverent. I pray when I can attend the TLM it’s not underground and unable to find one as they would be weary that I was an FBI plant. God Bless everyone.
St. Isaac Jogues fingers were chewed off by Iroquois warriors. Not cut off. Poor, poor holy man. Truly in love with his Lord. Then he went back once he had escaped. What a Saint.
And the Mass he said wàs the TRUE MASS in Latin, the Mass of The Ages, which the Modernist heretics have been trying to exterminate since 1960's, contrary to "QUO PRIMUM" see online.the Apostolic Constitution of POPE SAINT PIUS FIFTH issued 14 th July AD 1570. 🌴
We attend a Catholic Church run by the Pauline Fathers from Poland. The Mass is a combo of old and new, in that there are Latin praises sung. We have attended Protestant and other Catholic Churches through out our long lives (we are OLD). We feel so blessed to have this wonderful church in the last years of our lives.
A friend suggested that I go to Latin Mass. That was 3 years ago and I have remained. Receiving Holy Communion on my tongue while kneeling before Christ was such a profound experience for me that I wanted to come back and I am still going. We become closer to Christ, we evolve as true Catholics, we allow Him to lead us. TLM changes you for the better.
@@tomgreene1843 It is the same in that the priest still confects the body of Christ. Other than that it is different. The NO is modeled after Lutheran services. It is subject to "relativism" which makes it subject to the times and is an opening to errors. It has dropped the traditional aesthetic of beauty in favor of an unadorned style aesthetic.
@@barbpaq The Eucharistic change takes place through the invocation and power of the Spirit in Catholiuc belief. Lutheran beliefs are quite different so they do not profess the fullness of faith with the Catholic Church. The main -and lasting- errors have taken place centuries ago .
I am 76 years old and remember the Traditional Latin Mass, the way is was done for over 1,900 years. Although it was said in Greek until around the year 199A.D. when Pope Victor introduced it be said in Latin. REAL REVERENCE in the Latin Mass.
I grew up with the Latin Mass and it is not gibberish---it is the most reverent and solemn mass to attend. when you are there, more attention is centered on the Lord. people are not talking, texting or sleeping. As a child we were taught Latin, if you care to participate in TLM, take a course in Latin, I guarantee you will want to go to TLM again.
You don’t need a course in Latin to attend the TLM. get the English/Latin missal. People will be scared away if you tell them thy need a course in Latin!
I went to a Latin Mass today, it was like nothing I've ever seen before. It was so packed, first time I thought I might not get a seat a church. The woman all wore head coverings, it was very traditional, but I liked the reverence and the sacred feel to it. Too many modern churches have lost that. Lots of young families, even most of the kids there seemed focused and engaged. I almost wanted to cry, it was like I was transported back in time to an older, God fearing culture that seems long gone today. Then I drove a few blocks downtown, drove by the pride parade...quite the culture shock. Prayers would be appreciated, I'm not Catholic but Ive recently been reading the church fathers and found that so many things I believed for years are wrong- thinking that baptism and the eucharist are only symbols, once saved always saved, etc. I've realized that the Catholics are alot more right in their theology than I originally thought. Its pretty unsettling but I just want the truth and to be in the chruch that God wants me in.
In my opinion there are three main aspects of Catholicism that are convincing (you already named two) - Most importantly, the adherence to the teachings of the old fathers - The fullness of the Latin Mass - The fullness of Catholic life The last one is what convinced me. Examples monasteries, are daily Mass, blessings of houses, personal devotions, prayers for different occasions etc. Catholics can meaningfully dedicate their lives to God.
@@nathanvangoor4979 Definitely some fair points. Something that has really got the wheels turning in my head is the formation of the Bible. As a protestant, I believe the Bible is 100% inspired and inerrant, but that also begs the question- where did it come from? To believe the Bible is divinely inspired, I also must have faith that the councils of Rome, Hippo, Carthage etc. that formed the Bible were inspired. Which means that councils/tradition from the Catholic church must have some historical credibility, depsite what I've heard in many protestant churches.
May I suggest those who wish to gain more knowledge of what the Catholic Church teaches that they acquire the Baltimore Catechism or Catechism of Saint Pius Tenth and the Catholic Bible, the Douay-Rheims Bible. If you can attend Catechism with the SSPX, avoid the RCIA. 🙏🌴
I'm a mother of 5 children; my husband and I just came (from Protestantism) into the Church in December of 2020. We live in a small, rural Iowa town and are blessed to have a Catholic parish in town. It is an NO parish, but the people and our pastor are lovely. In recent months, I've been learning about the TLM, and would like to attend it. However, the closest TLM is only offered one day a week (Sat. 5pm) and is over an hour away. The thing I find most attractive about the TLM are the silence, defined gender roles, and connection to history and the saints. If we were to go to the TLM regularly, it would be a sacrifice for sure.
The cries of children aren't something to be endured but celebrated. The fact that in 2023 Catholics are still have big broods and not using contraception or getting abortions is amazing. People don't complain because we know that as long as we're hearing babies cry and seeing whole families at mass all is not lost.
@christopherpavesi7245 I understand why you like the Latin Mass better. I myself am a Greek Orthodox Christian, not a Catholic. If you examine the Liturgical Texts of the Divine Liturgy to that of the Latin Mass, you will see that the Divine Liturgy has significantly more to it than the Latin Mass. More reverence and more in depth prayers to God and the Theotokos. Don't get me wrong, the Latin Mass sure is beautiful, and I respect Catholics who attend it, but the spirituality of the East is on such a higher level than the West.
@@orthodoxtruth1999 Not sure I agree with that. They seem very close to me. The Divine Liturgy definitely has more supplications of mercy but the Latin Mass has more prayers for the grace to make a worthy communion. Like I said, I usually attend both twice a week but I just feel I can personally make more fervent communions in the Latin Mass because of the silence and being able to focus on my interior prayers. Either way I love both and pray for the unification of all Apostolic Churches.
Although the new Mass is a major problem it goes much deeper. If interested in finding out more what Vatican 2 has done to the Catholic church reading "Work of Human Hands" by Fr. Cekada will help. Its really sad what has happened to the Church.
Altar boys are OJT (on the job training) for the priesthood. So simple to figure out. Wish we had that opportunity when I grew up. Only had N.O. available.
I am 75 and remember Latin Mass and changes of Vatican II… I loved the changes. I loved the priest facing the congregation vs watching their back. In the language of the congregation….so participation was wonderful…. Yes, Latin is the root of all languages…but it is not taught in school, except catholic schools. I support both but choose to pray to God in my language!
When I was a kid, attending a Catholic elementary school the Sisters impressed upon us the need to follow the Mass by using a Missal. Many of us had the St.Joseph Daily Missal. Following the imposition of the Novus Ordo form I find many stopped using a Missal. I now find in attending a Traditional Latin Mass (1962) there are still many of my fellow worshipers simple look at the Altar throughout the Mass. The prayers said throughout the Mass are so beautiful and meaningful it's ashame more don't use the Missal to enhance their understanding of the miracle on the Altar before them.
It was good to use Missal when you were young, to get used to the prayers of the Mass, but, eventually, you will become so familiar with them that you will be able to follow just the gestures and positions of the priest and altar boys, and know exactly what's happening. I read through the Propers, Epistle and Gospel before Mass starts, and then simply kneel and watch the action on the altar. Monsignor Ronald Knox describes it as a 'dance'. (The Mass in Slow Motion).
I went to the Latin Mass for the first time 3 weeks ago. I was mesmerized with the beauty of the altar, the vestments, the devotion of the priest, the altar servers, the synchronicity, the holiness, the prayers, the detail, the amount of people on line for confession, the amount of people attending Mass with children who while teens, actually behave as if they want to be there. I thought I was in heaven. Don't think I will return to Novus Ordo . . . . Yes, it's going to take me a good while before I get the hang of the Latin and following in the Roman Missal. I am willing to do violence to myself to learn it.
I think the best thing about the traditional Latin mass is that is unifying and consistent. It is the same in California as it is in Chad, as it is in Cambodia or anywhere else. Even in my hometown of Long Beach CA, I find the movie or do masses vary tremendously in how it is conducted. There are the words that are prescribed that are the same, but it can be difficult to follow because they have all sorts of variations on sitting, standing and kneeling. Also the Movie Or do is sixty years old which makes it actually the "tritus ordo" vs the venerable "antiquus ordo", if I can make up terms. All of this being said the novus ordo may be acceptable for people still on their faith journey or those with certain cognitive issues that may make following the mass difficult
@@nathanvangoor4979What the those parishes that have what is called "A Reverent Novus Ordo Mass?" Those are the NO that has a certain amount or aspect of "TLM" mixed in.
@27.20. great question that i already have the answer to in a funny way. In the 90s, my grandmother who still attended a 'prevatican 2" type traditional catholic church with the latin mass still came to visit my parents. mom and dad didn't go the mass anymore, but wanted to take my grandmother to attend while she was here. they went to St. Timothy's here in mesa az. gradma said she thought to Rockettes were going to come out and across the 'stage' to perform a number. she did NOT like it. LOL
One of my sons referred to the Mass were attending in the past as the "Microwave Mass" (no offense meant):just because it was quite short. My sons never knew the TLM anyway since they were born long after. Vatican II and only knew the newer version. I was glad that we were able to also go to the TLM thanks to Pope Benedict XVI. After COVID 19, TLM has not been restored in our area. I did manage to fInd a church that does.. It is an SSPX parish church, a pleasant discovery. I look forward to the very solemn liturgy. The people are quite attentive and also, all the women, even the young girls are veiled ( mine as far back from high school) and in Sunday dress . Communion is offered through the tongue by a priest and over a rail that was probably never removed. I got a new Roman Missal circa 1962 although they also provide handouts in English aside from a booklet with the parallel translations. The parishioners are quiet but they participate actively and the choir sing so beautifully! Exactly as you both described to the last detail! 🙏 🤗
As an introvert, my anxiety level would go up every time we had to give sign of peace in the NO. I hated shaking peoples hands in mass and when I went to my first Latin mass I was soooo relieved we didn’t have to do that. So yeah, the Latin mass is perfect for introverts.
Im watching replay. Great podcast! NO IS PROTESTANT NOT CATHOLIC! I experienced a funeral (mass) that I could not tell that consecration even took place no reverence at all. I didnt feel that I attended mass. It was an assimilation that I will never attend again. TLM is the only true mass and should replace NO.
When my husband died and was buried with TLM Mass, the server could only get 1 candle lit and was going to give up. But Fr. Insisted that both candles be lit.
A Mass may not be celebrated with only one candle. If a candle goes about before the Consecration, the Mass has to be halted until the candle is lit. In the worst case he could've taken another candle
There is nothing that is fit to be offered to God besides the most beautiful. The NO sacrificed beauty for supposed accessibility; there is no question that the old rite is more fit for God.
I have to say I agree with you to gentleman. Now I attend the Novus Ordo Mass currently I do have the option to attend the Latin Mass which I do but not as often as I should. But my parish The Annunciation of the Lord in Decatur Alabama is the new mass I attend but there are still traditional elements still in it. The Kryie is still done in Latin the Sanctus and the Angus Dei is still done in the Latin. We have a communion rail where the altar boy uses a patin. Both our priests preform the mass with there back to us. And Thursday morning Mass is done in Latin. I just wanted to share there are still some parishes that have a mix. I myself and becoming more sympathetic to the traditional Latin I agree completely that it is the mass of the ages
The communion being done properly and the priest facing towards God are among the most important differences and it's good to see some NO priests are conscious about that! I do have to correct you though; the Kyrie is Greek :) There are also some Hebrew words in the Mass like 'alleluia', 'sabaoth' and 'hosanna'
Please pray for Iowa because NO FSSP parish at all!! I'm asking for Sr. Whelhemina intercession to obtain a Latin mass parish in Council Bluffs IA in particular & specifically Holy Family parish an historical parish "being preserved", but funny, there are no masses for the neighborhood to attend!! Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it!
Because it is the True Mass. Almost 2000 years of venerable usage. Canonized by Pope Pius v in the Council of Trent. That is why it is named Tridentine Mass. Trent is Tridentum in Latin.
See Council of Trent Session 7 Canon 13 and Session 22 Council of Trent. See Apostolic Constitution QUO PRIMUM of POPE SAINT PIUS FIFTH issued 14 th July AD 1570. Concluding sentences are :. Accordingly, no one whosoever is permitted to infringe or rashly contravene this notice of Our permission, statute, ordinance, command,, direction, grant, indult, declaration,, will, decree and prohibition. Should any person venture to do so, let him understand that he will incur the wrath of Almighty God and of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul.". Codified and Canonised. (QUO PRIMUM remains in force to this day until end of time.). 🌴
Also about the Kids, yes it is the MASS to attend. I have a 6 year old and an 18 month old which I normaly spend the MASS outside with my 18 month old while my Wife is inside with my 6 year old. At the NOVUS ORDO its a diferent story, I have gotten the worst looks from people just for being a Father. So Latin MASS all the way. VIVA CRISTO REY!!
I love to see other parishioners receive Holy Communion by mouth...i dont see much of this at all in reg mass, even though our parish and mass are traditional . Nor do i see hardly anyone kneeling to receive
Finally someone is on the same idea than me. Sorry for my English but I am French from Montreal Quebec. It will be ok if I write in French? Sorry for my French but I listen to you in translation!
I think what people want is that the Latin mass gaurantees reverance and communion on the tongue. You don't worry if the priest is going to do things one way or another.
If we can just have at least one latin mass a week at the no church I really think that we would have many more Catholics attending . I have only been to 2 NO masses at two different churches and at least at those ones the parishioners were very reverent and many took communion on the tongue .
Funny when you were talking about chant, I thought about my choir. I would fire all of my choir if I could. I get to Church early to do a rosary they come out FROM their own back room, and start to babble about unimportant things in total disregard to people praying. It's like hey that thing you got going with God, not important. How I sound during xyz much more important.
Normally in my church it's all Gregorian (standard form of Latin chant) except for the very last song before/during the procession. The Introit, Gloria, Gradual, Tract, Alleluia, Sequence, Creed, Offertory, Sanctus, Agnus Dei and the Communion will always be in Latin, but at special occasions non-Latin songs might be added. If you do attend a Sung Latin Mass it is still good to sing the responses during the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei and the church should provide some book with the musical notation (which is also different from what you're used to, but quite simple).
Kyrie Eleison, (Lord have Mercy) and Christe Eleison, (Christ have Mercy)are Greek and are the Only part that is/has been used to the present since 33A.D. Amen, Hosana and Alleluia are Hebrew...AND, are still used since then.
@@tomgreene1843 YES! Mt.16:18-19 tells you when Jesus Christ and the Apostles founded his One and ONLY Catholic Church, which was on 33A.D.....THAT IS, if you BELIEVE JESUS CHRIST. In the year 107 A.D, St Ignatius of Antioch; (Direct disciple of John the Apostle) used the Greek word, "Katolicós" (UNIVERSAL) to describe Jesus Christ ONLY CATHOLIC CHURCH. Today, after Martin Luther's First FALSE MAN MADE REFORMED Lutheran Church in 1520 there are over 70,000 more, Baptist, Methodist, Disciples of Christ, Pentecostal, Seventh Day Adventist, NON DENOMINATIONAL (BARELY 60 Years ago) etc. etc. etc...
I am looking for a Latin mass but how do you know if it’s the right place to be for I have to Mass by me . What are the mass when I went there, The Priest wore black robes and then I have another one by me that is run by North American Martyrs Parish A Latin Mass Parish Staffed by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter thank you
8 months of daily[*almost] Mass (Novus Ordo) & nearly always multiple cell phone interruptions. I'm guessing that is not common at TLM or Eastern Liturgies. Irreverence v.s. Reverence.
I find attending mass and not understanding what the preist saying as a deterrant to participate in the miracle of the Eucharist. It just seems to have a lot in common with a cult. I was an altar boy for many years and memorized all the responses back when the latin rite was the only option. I learned all the latin reponses and knew all that was required to assist the priest. That provided a real sense of participation but as I grew older and no longer served as an altar boy, i began skipping mass until I gave up attendance altogether during my early adulthood. Then I started attending English services and I was able to re-establish that sense of particpation. For these reasons, I, by far, prefer the English mass. I have serious misgiving with the novo ordo service but defer to it because I feel it is more inclusive. I would never deny you the spiritual benefit/grace that you obtain by attending the latin rite. I have never felt the sense of transcendence that you proclaim. Good for you, but I get a sense of inclusivity and participation in English services that I can't find in latin services. There are times I wish there was an English/American Orthodox rite that dispelled my misgivings with the novus ordo rite.
That is a sad story I feel the need however to respond to your comparison with a cult. A cult is a religion characterized by its seclusion from society and though the Mass may not be accessible to those who are not versed in the rite, it by no means encompasses the whole religion. To clarify with an example: if my house is open to strangers, it does not mean they can inspect all rooms; the living room is their place. I do also not really understand why you think there is more participation in the NO, except for the psalm between readings. When it comes to responses and positions a lot has been simplified for the laity.
@@nathanvangoor4979 I'm sorry that you found my discussion to be sad. Sympathy certainly wasn't what I was looking for. I was just trying to to be honest and straght forward so I won't take offense. The fear of God is something I've been told is a pre-requisite for entry to heaven. I will face my final judgement with that fear and with a plea to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus to walk with me. I make no assumptions on what the results will be, i have only hope that Jesus will weigh what was in my heart against my sins and still find me acceptable. In the end, isn't this what the final jugdement will be about?
@@jameseacmen607 That is certainly a good view on the day of wrath. Your words are filled with humility and humility is the virtue that opposes the sin which made us fall from Grace. No other virtue will do as much for you on that day.
Mass this morning was less than 30 minutes. Priest sent choir home because of "weather". No homily due to bad weather, according to the priest., What kind of Catholic Church is this?
The novus ordo “mass” is not the Mass. As a convert to the Catholic faith in the year 2000, after seven years of study, prayers, and tears, finding out in 2003 that the novus ordo service was not the true sacrifice of the Mass was very shocking. I have never gone to the “new mass” since then. I was very upset at having been duped again after having waded through all the Protestant jungle of false teachings. No credence should be given to the sepulcher of the new false church.
Read first in Latin then in English. The sermon is on English. Latin is on one side of the missal and the vernacular(English) on the other side of the missal. I do not know Swedish. When I attended TLM in Sweden the Latin is on the left page and the English translation on the right side of the page. A Swede would have Latin on the left hand side and Swedish on the right side. Compare that to the diocese of L.A. which has masses in 42 different languages...Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese etc. The New mass creates segregation linguistically.
The readings are first 'liturgically' read in Latin and then, from my experience, they are read again before the sermon in vernacular. There is not a homily in the TLM, but a sermon (which is more doctrinal and applicable) and the sermon is in vernacular.
Serious question . My Latin missal dated 1956 says “and with thy spirit . “ is this before “ and also with you” ? Returning catholic to the Latin mass hence my question .
The NO used "and also with you" for a while, but "and with thy spirit" is a more accurate translation. I suspect the former was the standard translation in TLM missals.
Personally I am not a fan of Eric because I think he is smugly arrogant, but he is absolutely correct about string theory and the calling out the other arrogant societal leeches
your comment seems like it was written for an Eric Weinstein video, and not for this one RE the Latin Mass. Yes? I do agree with you about Eric, on both points tho. cheers.
Just went to a Latin mass for the first time. It was not one ounce more reverent than the norvus ordo. I left dissappointed, and utterly bewildered what all the fuss is about. I’m a conspiracy theorist by nature, and this might be the single exception where I am actually on the side of “the system”. I’m not on the side of banning it, but I did leave feeling the movement pushing it is potentially dangerous and misguided. I would theorize that our generation is so liberal, so far gone, and so anti traditional that the effect has been that traditional Catholics have simply clung to this movement in desperation for anything that appears to be against the way of this world today (very understandably so). It is no doubt helping a resurgence of attendance, but I don’t think it’s for valid reasons. People are just desperate, so much so that seeing a ritual in a language they don’t know has created the illusion of a higher ideal. If the church were not so corrupt at this time, it is highly doubtful that the old Latin mass would have the same appeal. I think the real answer is addressing the heresy and fraud of the high level clergy.
I grew up in an Independent Baptist church. A couple months ago, I was exposed to Catholicism through a coworker. My church has confession after Mass which annoys me. I think it should always be before mass. I go to the new mass for confession bc of this.
@@jbowen828Confession before mass is beautiful. This way we are in a state of grace before receiving Jesus.
A proper high mass with the full vestments, incense, choir, organ, and everything, is personally for me the most beautiful thing I can even imagine. I think it’s the most beautiful thing in the universe. It’s perfect in every way
I Love the Latin Mass, I try to go every Sunday at 1 PM, about 51 Minutes away from my city.
St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross became Roman Catholic instead of Lutheran when she converted to Christianity because she loved the TLM
I LOVE having my veil smell like incense! lol
That's amazing! I'm a man and so I didn't know veils could do that. Makes me jealous lol.
I was born in 1946 in Cuba & went to Catholic School all my life. I had the Latin Mass every day in school until this new Mass started & I dropped out of my Catholic Chirch. I felt it was a Protestant Mass, I still do. When
JESUS WAS EXPOSED & WE WENT IN, WE ALWAYS KNELT WITH BOTH KNEES & DROPPED OUR HEAD TO THE FLOOR, PROSTRATING OURSELVES IN FRONT OF OUR LORD ANS SAVIOR, OUR KING. I DID THAT HERE AT CHURCH IN GA. AND
PEOPLE THOUGHT I HAD FALLEN & WERE TRYING TO HELP ME UP. NEVER DID IT AGAIN. ALSO
I CAN'T STAND HAVING A WOMAN GIVING COMMUNION WHEN THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY PEOPLE IN CHURCH.
I EXPECT THE PRIEST TO DO HIS JOB, IF IT TAKES 10
EXTRA MINUTES FOR MASS, SO BE IT.
I AM 77 & THE ONLY LATIN MASS IS 1 1/2 HOURS OR MORE AWAY FROM ME. I ALMOST NEVER DRIVE ANY MORE. MY PARISH IS 10 MILES FROM HOME. BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN GOING. I WILL CHANGE THAT
WITH OUR BLESSED MOTHERS HELP!

Catholic my whole life. Just now getting into the TLM. Feel like my eyes are now open after 55 years of norvos ordo. I feel at home now.
Well said
Not so the Eucharist is for all and all times....the'' source and summit of the Church''
@@MaryMost So you are not with the Majesterium on those matters?
The amount of blessings that are received and made are bountiful ❤
If you liked that then you’d really like attending. You should attend one my friend. 🙏🙏 🙏
The Catholic Church was founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ. Who started the Pentecostal "church" ? A man no doubt. Not Christ.
Become Catholic....the benefits are eternal. 🙏🌴
I love the theology behind it and the prayers that express it.

What are "the Pauline Fathers from Poland"? Thanks. I'm learning...
Latin mass is so powerful! Thank You Jesus!
All I can say is Amen!
I went to my first Latin mass a couple of weeks ago. I was lost for much of it, but I felt that it was so much more sacred than the ordinary mass.
When I was growing up we went to only Latin Mass, totally different from Mass Now
The one good thing is that the mass you went to growing up is not totally different from the TLM now.

Not so it is the same Mass.
If you seek the truth then you will find it. 🙏🙏🙏
In my opinion there are three main aspects of Catholicism that are convincing (you already named two)
- Most importantly, the adherence to the teachings of the old fathers
- The fullness of the Latin Mass
- The fullness of Catholic life
The last one is what convinced me.
I went to a latin mass yesterday very beautiful
You are welcome
The Latin Mass is literally perfect.
Byzantine Divine Liturgy is better
@@orthodoxtruth1999 I attend both on a weekly basis but personally prefer the Latin Mass. Both are theologically sound, unlike the new mass.
I go to novus ordo from Monday thru Sat.
and my Sunday is TLM.
The NO really is outdated compared to the TLM ironically enough
This was very helpful, thank you

Challenge thrown down! Write the book on veiling Taylor!
Why should a man write a book about that which is a divine call on a woman’s heart??

This is why I love you, brotha! 😂 I couldn’t agree more!!! 💪✝️
The NO adds a Protestant ending to the Lord's Prayer.
And a Jewish table blessing.
Fr. Michael Mueller wrote a beautiful book on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Goin old school ~ great show you two ✌
Healthy boundaries are good for a well balanced person.
I do have to correct you though; the Kyrie is Greek :)
There are also some Hebrew words in the Mass like 'alleluia', 'sabaoth' and 'hosanna'

Finally someone is on the same idea than me. Sorry for my English but I am French from Montreal Quebec. It will be ok if I write in French?
Sorry for my French but I listen to you in translation!
Altar boys add a certain beauty to the rite so their value is more than just as apprentice priests.
I think what people want is that the Latin mass gaurantees reverance and communion on the tongue. You don't worry if the priest is going to do things one way or another.
Is this a re-run of a previous podcast, Dr. Marshall? I remember listening to this around 2019
If we can just have at least one latin mass a week at the no church I really think that we would have many more Catholics attending . I have only been to 2 NO masses at two different churches and at least at those ones the parishioners were very reverent and many took communion on the tongue .
Very grateful to God for Monsignor Lefebre!!❤
Why? He disobeyed Pope John Paul II and separated himself from the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
The Roman canon is always said at the NO church I go to

Funny when you were talking about chant, I thought about my choir. I would fire all of my choir if I could. I get to Church early to do a rosary they come out FROM their own back room, and start to babble about unimportant things in total disregard to people praying. It's like hey that thing you got going with God, not important. How I sound during xyz much more important.
Are any church songs sang in English? Singing the Gloria, the alleluia‘s, holy holy, the Lamb of God, is what I enjoy the most about going to mass.

Can someone explain if the Baronius Press 1961 Brevarium alleviates the need to also obtain the monastic diurnal?
In new Mexico they had Latin masses they didn't understand it so they changed to English and Spanish
Read the papal bull "Quo Primum".
That is a sad story
I feel the need however to respond to your comparison with a cult.
The internet always shows the no masses that are totally heretical .
It would nice if I had a latin mass within reasonable driving range
I love the TLM, wish it was the norm, rather than the novus ordo
The Latin Mass is a W.
What does that mean?
Win
I live in a country where TLM is not available but only Novus Ordo. Don't attend them for the rest of my life ?
The novus ordo “mass” is not the Mass. As a convert to the Catholic faith in the year 2000, after seven years of study, prayers, and tears, finding out in 2003 that the novus ordo service was not the true sacrifice of the Mass was very shocking. I have never gone to the “new mass” since then. I was very upset at having been duped again after having waded through all the Protestant jungle of false teachings. No credence should be given to the sepulcher of the new false church.
I have no where to go for TLM
Are the readings and priest’s homily done in Latin, as well?
I'm wondering if you put the two missals side-by-side and read the prayers, comparing the actual words of the two Masses.
Not all of us have axcess to a Katin Mass.
I much prefer the Latin mass, I wish it was still here.
What mass language was practiced in the catacombs.
Dr.Marshall
Do you remember me.
Aren't Taylor Marshall and Eric Sammons both members of Opus Dei?
