- In this video we tackle the interior of our R129 Mercedes 300SL. It wasn't super filthy but it definitely needed some dealing in, so that's just what we did. Every surface got a thorough cleaning, top to bottom, everything was finished in one of my favourite UV protectants and left to absorb into the nearly 30 year old interior. The cars interior now feels, smells, and looks fresh and nourished. Thank you all for checking out the video. Big hugs.

I love how you don’t drill brush everything.
The drill brush is the most efficient and most effective way to do things, especially when you’re on a time crunch. Why wouldn’t people drill brush everything?
@@noahscott9390 I agree with you, I use drill brushes on my older vehicles and it’s makes the job so quick and easy. I just appreciate it when he’s putting the extra effort into this classic (to me) car.

You can Buy also soft drillbrush! It works perfectly.
@@Lars-qp7ys softer bristles do not completely fix the problem. Drill brushes have a lot of torque and speed and it can be too much for old and delicate materials. It is quite a beating for carpets, seats and plastics almost 30 years old.
Apart from the nice and precise job on the interior, I want to spend a word on the amazing video quality (lighting, shoot angles, resolution and editing) and most of all the perfect musics. Thank you.

I love watching the detail vids. And when my eyes aren’t glued to the screen, it feels like I’m listening to my chill playlists. I would love to see your try Mr clean magic erasers, along with a diluted interior cleaner in hot water, as long as you are gentle, it will break down and wipe away the trapped dirt and leave the surface cleaned. Oh! And #00-#0000 steel wool to polish the windows. Love watching the vids and your methods/process!

Thanks man! Yeah I don’t like it that shiny either! But everytime I get a car of this age I really load it on and let it absorb. The car won’t be driven for a couple of months because of winter. I’ll resolve it in April and most likely apply 3D LVP to the seats 😚

@@ChromaticGarage re-watched again this morning...seats are out fixing wiring issues in seat belt relays ...great motivation to keep going....your SL was pristine compared to mine but I am getting there...even with all the neglect it does clean up well even after 30 years

Fantastic video! I have an SL320 myself and love watching my car get the cinematic treatment it deserves. On another note, do you plan to make a video detailing how to deal with the cracking wood veneer plastics? I know that’s a problem myself and other R129 owners have, but haven’t found a great solution.

I like the interior details you do simply bc they aren’t the same exact process everyone else uses, not to mention it’s always great content.
May I ask why you used your extractor on only the car mats and not other parts of the interior as well? That’s not a critical remark, just looking to understand why the steamer vs the extractor.
Thanks Abbie! The carpets inside the car were either under a mat or on an area that doesn’t really get traffic. So they weren’t particularly dirty, I just wanted to sanitize them!

Is there any reason you steam instead of hot water extract the interior carpet?
I just wanted to sanitize those carpet areas. There was no reason to introduce excessive moisture
