Are you still reading this?! If so, type "Bye bye, Bilbo!" in the comments below!! - Фільми й анімація
So agreed, Martin Freeman does a brilliant job.
***** Explain how.
***** Well. No one likes the Welsh, really.
*****
Stating one's opinion isn't promoting inequality. You people are so easily upset and offended, it just isnt funny any more.
+Movies For Newbies Really? That's really what you're getting so worked up about? If you think any of that should be classed as offensive then you should consider living the rest of your life in a bubble, because the world is really going to upset you.
+Movies For Newbies I feel so bad for you. I honestly do. I actually felt an overwhelming sense of pity when I witnessed the politically correct freaks you're identifying yourself with. Honestly, how do you look yourself in the mirror without laughing hysterically?
I counted, and the battle in the book actually went for six pages
+DoctorXander lol
+DoctorXander 300 pages made into 3 movies where
+DoctorXander Great use of you time
Still doesn't make this a good movie, now does it?
+DoctorXander So making the movie show that Bilbo passed out and woke up and everyone was dead (Thorin dying, Kili-Fili dead) would be better? Doubt it.
The Christopher Lee stunt double comment made me tear up a little. Sir Lee was such an icon, but by then already over 90 years old. He still wanted to play Saruman because he was such a fan of Tolkien and took pride in playing the role of the white wizard. During filming it was often even hard for him to just walk around. But they made it work, he and production, because they believed in the value of the character.
Christopher Lee was one amazing actor, with such an interesting life besides that. You'll be remembered and for always in our hearts Sir Christopher Lee!
Maybe because it wasn't Christopher Lees stunt double but Ian McKellens stunt double? xD
He's an absolute legend. He lived life exactly the way he wanted to.
"The Bloating of the Five Pages" OMG that is perfect XD XD XD
princessthyemis I completely agree!!! Seriously, you could read the book faster than watching the movies LOL
SoLoMoN DaViDSoN Completely! :D XD
SoLoMoN DaViDSoN definitely
Cant we all agree, whether you read the book or not... That the elf and drarve love scene was completely unnecessary?
All of the made up love scenes were completely unnecessary.
Hugoi baray There doesn't need to be any female characters In the movie because they weren't in the book. The story is an adventure story that had no love stories. The love stories in the movie weren't even plausible anyway. I mean, an elf and a dwarf?! Or even worse, Gandalf and Galadriel?!?! That was the worst one.
More importantly, it's really sad if the only way you can think of adding a female role is by adding a love story.
Jeramy Gonzales Sadly, I kind of liked the romance because it was completely made up and I wasn't expecting it so I couldn't be disappointed by it like I was disappointed by everything else in those movies that I was expecting to be so much cooler, and just... better.
DrummerGabs Not expecting it at all made it more disappointing because instead of just modifying something that was in the book, it was a completely new thing that was never there at all.
I came up with a way of punishing Peter Jackson for this movie:
Making him adapt The Silmarillion.
Yes, the whole thing.
With painstaking accuracy.
As many movies as it takes.
+tybofborg If you know the rules and principles in adapting a book to a movie, or creating a movie, you know this will never happen.
May God have mercy on his soul. I haven't even finished it in book form yet
That's flat out cruel 😂.
+tybofborg I remember seeing a fake news article when Battle of Five Armies came out that Peter Jackson was making a 70 movie series adaptation of the Silmarillion, and had just bought all New Zealand to do it
+tybofborg He did not want to direct them.
"And the New Zealand department of tourism." You know.....hot coffee really burns when it comes shooting out of your nose!
Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, of the Noble House of Durin
*DRAMA QUEEN UNDER THE MOUNTAIN*
That's perfect
Seriously, the part where legolas jumps from rock to rock could've been taken straight out of an anime
It's logic. Tolkien made the Elbs have a weight of about 100 g, thats also the reason why Legolas can walk over snow in TLOTR.
When I saw it, I couldn't help but mentally add Mario jump sound effects.
TheRealSniperking And it's also the reason why a light breeze means the end of all elves? Is that how the fading of the elves worked?
TheRealSniperking That also means elves should be able to fly, or at least jump enormous hights
Yeo123Zg Yep ^^ It's strange... I don't know how :D
"And.. the New Zealand Department of Tourism" lol
There... have your 300th like. xD
I'm from New Zealand and it is 100% accurate. You have an LOTR/Hobbit statue in basically every major airport. And if you go to Hobbiton you discover the magic of how they milk it for as much as they can
@@DubiousWisdom mostly yes but I actually really really enjoyed Hobbiton.
Too perfect.
The DVD extras have one that's basically an ad.
Bilbo's freaking jump scare scared me again just like in the original trilogy...
IKR!
That NEVER happened in the novel.
That genuinely is one if the best parts of the movie at the end. That and anything with Bilbo. Martin Freeman is perfectly cast and so endearing and human in every moment he has. And he's really good at reacting to fallen comrades. Sherlock and Thorin. Always gives me a lump in the throat.
I actually liked The Hobbit movies quite a lot. Please don't kill me.
They weren't good
I liked the first one and the second one. The third one was okay but it had its stupid moments. I enjoyed the LOTR trilogy, but in my opinion, it's very overhyped.
Cyberlord Maybe the first two LotR movies were overhyped but The Return of the King was amazingly epic and awesome. That movie was under hyped if anything.
Whovian1029 Of course I liked LOTR way more, but I think we should judge the Hobbit movies without comparing them to LOTR.
Whovian1029 There's literally millions of people who praise Return of the King as the greatest movie of all time. I don't see how that's underhype at all. Not to sound rude or anything, but honestly, it just sounds like you're overhyping it too.
You know, I really enjoy the Hobbit movies. However, after watching the Hobbit movies followed by the Lord of the Rings movies, I see just how superior the Lord of the Rings movies are. The Hobbit movies are a fun action adventure, while the Lord of the Rings is a cinematic masterpiece.
I agree to that. Of course "The Hobbit" bases on just one book, so what are you expecting?
I expected an action-adventure back in a great world perfectly described years before, so I don't need a great story. Just awesome to hear the epic soundtracks, see old charakters acting one more time and (!!!) watch Elrond fighting the first time of all movies. So I liked all parts of "The Hobbit" though.
The movie disappointed me so much I read it 3 times then I got that crap movie
The Lord of the Rings is also one book :) What's the problem is the content, which in Lord of the Rings was five times, if not more, dense and complete.
I did enjoy the movies, but just imagine what it could have been if The Hobbit was made into one, maximum two movies. Without the useless stuff that Peter Jackson added, but most importantly without the things that went against all sense and Tolkien's own creation. Namely mentioning Aragorn, who was 10 then, and wouldn't be called Strider for another 15 years, and adding in Tauriel, who was just annoying with that love story they developed between Kili and her (undermining the hard earned friendship between Legolas and Gimli) and adding in Legolas, while not accurate, wouldn't have been so annoying if she wasn't there to make him a whiny kid.
I don't know if you tried watching a LOTR/Hobbit marathon, but "fun and action-adventure" can only get you so far when it defiles the canon.
+Dominika Malicka Really? I thought Lotr had 3 books
The Lord of the Rings series is not one book, they were three.
"OH NO! , NOT.... THAT ONE.. " HAHAHAHA WHUT.
Lol
I'm not going anywhere else in the world
LoL
Poor Filli xD
So good hahah
Martin Freeman shines in his charming well acted performance as Bilbo Baggins. Thanks for at least admitting that :)
Bilbo: "I miss Baker Street..."
Smaug: "Me too..."
@@lizzyisms habahahahahaababhahabasbabababababab underated comment
Thank you 😂
Golum: And Black Panther
I did cry during Return of the King.
"For Frodo..."
Internet Dinosaur
I know, man. I know.
Every time
+Timothy Morris Yeap me too, still haha
Me too! That's my favorite of the LOTR trilogy.
"The Bloating of the Five Pages" is the funniest Honest Title, ever.
"OH NO, Not... that one..." :'D
I also tought that the pipe scraping scene was the best scene in the movie. Nice and quiet for once, and just the actors and their expressions.
Gets me every time
NO it was Kili.....or Fili? or aww shit.
FILI! Kili's brother.
The first thing I thought to myself when I saw Legolas on the bride is fuck yeah physics. Glad I was not alone.
OrdoMallius me too! : D
OrdoMallius I hope you also said fuck physics when he was walking on snow like no problem, during that storm in Pass of Caradhras, while all the others struggled with it.
Marijn Wicherink Goddammit Marijn!
OrdoMallius Actually, him jumping off of rocks that are falling to jump above them is absolutely physically possible and I have no idea why people think it isn't. It is perfectly consistent with the laws of mechanics and it's actually exactly how rockets work. Rockets expend energy to accelerate a reaction mass (the exhaust) in one direction, which by the law of conservation of linear momentum, makes the rocket accelerate in the opposite direction.
Honestly, this is the least problematic part of the movie :) at least from a physics perspective.
He's an elf though. Laws of physics don't really apply to him. The dude can walk on top of snow.
"Oh no! Not.....that one!"
lmao
+Thomas Jervey That's literally what I said when watching that scene.
Hahahha :" Khaleesi " I DIED
me too 😅😅
+nadiah najib so he suit for playing Rhaegar Targaryen hahaha
I was just thinking that
+Sue Peach so true! 😂
me too :D
3:55 "Khaleesi." *Actually dies*
+Michael ”Stranger Danger” Saymo *brings flowers*
+Stranger Danger same
That was the best part of the video
😅
Walk it off :)
What if you just say "Quack"? Could you pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas do that?
Hi duck its been awhile
LOOK OUT! IT'S A DUCK!
A Duck *Quack*
hey baby
Stop it Duck you make me roar on the net...and only you say that of all animals...humans wont Quack on their videos...i thought we were past this....
I did like the movie but, it is so true how people bawl at the end of the Lord of The Rings trilogy, but nobody really cares at the end of The Hobbit.
Yeah Ik right
124Nightwing The thing is, all these fights were in the book. Except for the escape from the Elves, that was added. In the book it was just a stealth adventure. But yeah, lots of killing happened in the books and people seem to forget that.
nah, i think the hobbit trilogy was just a bloated, emotionless spectacle for old times sake
SUBSCRIBE this is the internet.... ERROR: your opinion is invalid.... internet forsakes you.
jayjayx5x1 i think your semantics are invalid :) or at least- i don't understand what you are saying
I loved all 6 movies..
Same! The Extended Edition is better :)
"Khaleesi," I'm dead!
I cant breathe...
😂😂😂 same
I was eating when he said that
I'm not miserable,I'm not in pain,I feel nothing,and it's feels great
This whole trilogy put me in pain. If it had half the heart that any other original LOTR movie had, it might have been half decent.
00WhiteBlade just absolutel disgrace to an amazing trilogy
Jake Dalton The Trilogy was good but not Great.
***** damn bro you sound like cinemasins
Jake Dalton no, he's right. i watched the movie and... i just fucking died inside.what have they done to middle earth?it wasnt HORRIBLE but, comon, we've learn to expect more from piter jackson. in some point... it's just got boring
I think it should have been left at two movies. There was certainly enough content for two movies that were two to two and a half hours long. I feel like a spider battle, escaping an elf city, meeting a bear guy, hanging around Lake Town, finding the dragon, and a war would have been a bit much to cram into one.
But three? There was no need whatsoever for three.
+Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I agree. Hobbit wouldn't have worked as only one movie. 2 would have been a very fine amount of movies. Then, they couldn't have included so much useless stuff and keep it more focused
+Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I have the version of the book that is split into two parts, and both parts can make a movie. Just stop f***ing around with the script so LOTR makes sense!
+Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme Oh, but there was a need.:It's called the cash cow. And besides, we would feel cheated if a franchise didn't come in threes, now wouldn't we?
+Lynne the Trendy Tetraodontiforme I think one movie would be just enough. Each of the LOTR books has 350 - 450 pages, The Hobbit has 320. And you don't have to include everything - the LOTR movies omitted plenty of stuff too. Most of the encounters in The Hobbit are seemingly arbitrary and have little to no effect on the story (e.g. Beorn, spiders, elvish captivity, barrel escape, lingering in the Lake Town). Also, who needs 13 dwarves? I'd keep Thorin and maybe three others, the rest can be easily left out. The core story would behoove from it.
+mwall444 Honestly there are SO MANY OTHER ways of making it three. In fact, Hobbit started OUT life as a 2 part saga but turned into three later in production. Yes there is a lot left out, but; avg length of LotR is almost ONE FULL HOUR longer than hobbit, which meant they could have EASILY made a 3:30 - 4hrs (~4hrs for extended like LotR) * 2 movies and still kept all the stuff intact. The total runtime would actually be just a WHEE bit shorter than it is as 3 movies. Although...there's an argument to be made about 3normal sized movies vs 2 really long movies. As I said, LotR is on average almost 1 hour longer per movie than Hobbit is.
But they wanted a three parter? sure, why not. Cram in some silmarillion and 'history of middle earth' in there. There's some REALLY REALLLY interesting stuff in there that explains things like the nature of elves, why wizards don't meddle more, what that little flask is that lady galadriel uses to banish sauron...AND as a matter of fact even about how it all started. That would be a 3hour ish movie EASY, depending on what you cut - you could easily cut out the stuff that either has to do with stuff we cut out from LotR already (like the mention of other Dunedeins) and stuff that doesn't matter to the LotR story. Heck they can even use the same actors and pass it off as "it's just X's ancestor so OBVIOUSLY he/she looks like X" or some such. THe whole series could have been called something different than 'Hobbit' with the first part being 'The Silmarillion' or 'the first war' or something. And could have ended with 2 or 3 events like: the taking of erabor (so this part could have been cut down to just a few lines to sum up in the other 2 movies), isildurs refusal to throw the ring and hinting at his ultimate descent into corruption and madness ending with his losing of the ring as well as a few other events of note that would tie to the other 'hobbit' movies and LotR. So:
pre-quel 1: History of middle earth
pre-quel 2: Hobbit 1 - Journey (no more scene introducing erabor we already did that)
prequel 3: Hobbit 2 - taking back of erabor, rise of sauron and battle of five armies
Lotr*3: removing the battle and history of the ring as it is the basis of pre-quel 1.
Heck prequel 1 could even end up as TWO
Book armies:
Men
Elves
Dwarves
Orcs
Wargs
Cartoon armies:
Men
Elves
Dwarves
Orcs
Eagles
Movie armies:
Men
Elves
Dwarves
Orcs of Dol Guldur
Orcs of Gundabad
+Rhys McCartney haven't read the book for years, but iirc, it's goblins, not orcs. i don't remember orcs in the books.
+Adûnâi Weren't goblins are suppose to be weaker and not as smart as orcs.
+kevin mcauliffe Just different breeds
In Tolkien's works, "Goblins" is just another name for Orcs, mostly used by the Hobbits (and Dwarves too?)
@@sanwayzar you're right they're the same
I loved Fili and Kili and was devastated when they died, but the "Oh no! Not...that one!" cracked me up
Well it's clear that Screen Junkies hate The Hobbit but I really loved them.It was a very unique experience and while it's not as great as LOTR it's still very epic in its own right.
Yeah Hobbit was definitely was an epic snoozefest.
They don't hate the hobbit only one of them does. They actually have a video debate on "does the Hobbit suck?"
How the hell was it a unique experience when the whole problem with the Hobbit films is how they keep aping the tone of Lord of the Rings without any justification for it in the story? The Hobbit SHOULD have been a unique experience but instead Jackson kept trying to force it into LotR's clothes that didn't fit.
Nah it was kinda boring. It shouldn't have been that long. I guess it was ok :D
Keldroc Really ? it wasn't a unique experience ? well first The Hobbit 1 was an great adventure and we got to visit middle earth and see it as never before plus in 3D.We got introduced to new characters and loved Bilbo and got to understand how he got the ring in details especially that scene with Bilbo and Gollum was epic in every right. Then we experienced one of the best Dragons put to cinemas ever=Smaug. Then we got to experience The Battle of the Five Armies which well in my opinion was great I know some people hate it but it was something special to me.Seeing Gandalf,Legolas and many great characters from LOTR brought back to the big screen once again was an experience on its own.
Frodo: "It might have worked better as a Children's book."
Hello.
The BEST part 😂😂😂
Screams and chokes him.
It’s not children’s book!
@@MoonShire I read it in 2nd or 3rd grade and thoroughly enjoyed it. Most high school kids don't even read at that level anymore so I can see where you are coming from
I was actually really touched when Bilbo had to say goodbye to the dwarves.
Thouh as HISHE put it, the five armies are really not well defined.
This should have been one film. The book was more or less the size of one of the LOTR books, if not smaller. You didn't see them stretch out Fellowship into two or three films. One fast paced, closer adaptation of the book, minus all the LOTR filler and unnecessary extra characters, is the route they should have taken.
+pious83 No I reckon two because quite a lot happens in the Hobbit, it's very fast paced, whereas LOTR is slower, hence three books. But I agree, three is far too much.
+pious83 Note; there were nine or one LOTR books, never three, and Tolkien specifically saide he wanted it nine, or as one story, and i personally like the filler with the Necromancer, as it added to parts of the lore without rewriting what Tolkien wrote down.
irony boy If The Hobbit had been done first, as it should have been, the added Necromancer storyline would have worked. But at the end of the day it was Sauron and as you already knew what happens to him, fleshing him out retroactively was pointless. The book told the story from Bilbo's perspective and missed out the bits he wasn't present for, that was good enough to carry the whole film.
+Lucy Hartwell I would've loved it if they expanded it to two, but used all that extra time to round out the dwarves.
Instead, they expanded it to three, and used all that extra time to give Gandalf a side quest, shoehorn in about 6 other characters with side quests (Tauriel, Radagast, Legolas, the sidekick guy, Azog and Bard) and left all of the dwarves tragically unexplored.
It's amazing how this series can be so bloated and yet so hollow at the same time. At least the Star Wars prequels had the decency of being just movie length and not over two hours each.
+pious83
If they had stuck with two films like they were originally planning on, it would've worked well I think.
The problem isn't Peter Jackson (I'm getting kind of tired of people blaming the fault on the movies on either Peter Jackson or CGI. Neither of those have ANYTHING to do with why a movie would be good or bad)
The problem was that the studios were giving them pressure to build 3 films out of nothing really. There's even a shot of the behind the scenes where Peter Jackson is nearly breaking down on set because he just couldn't handle the stress and is like, "I don't know how I can do this… there's no way I can do this" because the studios kept telling him "you need to make it 3 movies, we don't care how, just make it work," which resulted in a lot of made up crap.
I really wish people had better perspective on what goes on in the film making department instead of just blindly blaming faults with movies on the director or the actor or "CGI" (I could care less about whether or not they use CGI. Personally, I'm a little tired of all the crap talk on CGI because CGI is NOT just an easy thing to do like people say it is)
Loved the Hobbit Trilogy, but this Honest Trailer was spot on.
Calling Galadriel Samara is funny and clever. Hugo Weaving's daughter is named Samara.
Please say: every fairytale needs a good old fashioned villain
heyooo Jim from IT!!
***** hey khan wuzzup.
I admit the whole thing felt stretched and there were some things that could have been condensed....or not even included....but I still enjoyed them nonetheless. This honest trailer seriously have me laughed so hard
"Oh, no! Not... That, one?" xD
Am I the only person that likes these movies?
It really feels like it at times. :(
Zero Wat I luvvvvv them!
Naw man I love them too!
When it comes to fandoms like these u are never alone
Zero Wat Nope I think they're awesome too :D
alexy sese I feel like if I was in there, it would be better than this earth because it has so much nature! This earth is bathed in pollution...
There's a fantastic edit of the Hobbit movies, called The Tolkien Edit.
It's about 4 1/2 hours long, and cuts out 90% of the stupid pointless bullshit that was crammed into the whole thing to make it last three movies.
It's pretty good!
Goatmon Thanks. I'm gonna check it out.
Goatmon Oh man. I've GOT to check that out!
Goatmon Just watched it, its excellent! Doubt ill ever watch the trilogy again
Albert Johfur
Tokein wouldnt have approved of turning a book not thicker than your finger into a trilogy the same length as lord of the rings
Albert Johfur Actually Tolkien didn't want any movie adaptations of his work because he knew they wouldn't stay true to the originals. He actually refused Disney the rights to make a movie because of that. Or so i've heard.
Lol. “And the New Zealand Tourism department”. So true. They even have an Air New Zealand plane dedicated to the Hobbit. 🤣
Ha ha HA,"Oldlando Bloom" "Madea goes to Laketown" "Khaleesi" "the Hobbit the bloating of the 5 pages! " Lol, lol. Soooo very true!;-p

Did anyone else notice that when he is saying stuff in his epic voice at the far left it says honest game trailer for half life 3?
Yes, I did notice, that's why I' getting a weird compulsion to visit the end of this video 3 times a week or so . . .
Simon Nelson-Smith Might be for an April Fools joke tomorrow.
IGNXIII god dammit i'm sure you're right.
Simon Nelson-Smith and just like half-life three, it will never happen XD
Wulframm Rolf But it did happen. You're 4 days late.
I honestly think Gandalf's side quest was the best part of all three films. Unnecessary, but still pretty cool.
"the new zealand department of tourism " 😂😂
Actually, I remember all of the dwarves names...or almost all of them.
Stephen Wells same (x
Just dont ask me which on was Killi and which was fili
Robert Bosshardt I don't have any trouble with those two. Fili's the blondish guy with the Jack Sparrow beard and Kili's the guy who likes elf women.
The ones I always have trouble keeping straight are Dori, Nori, and Ori.
Stephen Wells Nori had the triangle hair, Ori was the youngest with the sling shot, and Dori had gray hair was rediculously polite and was most notable for literally bringing Gandalf a small glass of red wine with a fruity bouquet.
Stephen Wells When you read as much fanfiction as I do, you have to learn their names.
The eagles, like the wizards are not supposed to use their full power. They can guide and help, but should not interfere too much (why? one reason could be that the use of their power corrupts -> See Saruman). In The Hobbit they will not help the dwarves get to the lonely mountain because there is a fucking dragon around and they have their own problems. In The Lord of the Rings they can't fly into fucking Mordor. Saurons presence and the Nazgul would have crushed them and with Sauron focused on the threat of the ring being destroyed Frodo could have failed being able to drop the ring into the fire. The explanation is not perfect, but it should be good enough for those who are wondering ...
Yeah most of us understand and agree the problem is it's not explained in the movies at all. And 95 percent of everyone watching haven't read the books
*****, exactly (though I never read the books instead on more web sources to know Middle-Earth including Eagles as well).
***** Yeah ... I know that the films didn't clarify the reasons why eagles act like they do. But in most discussions about that topic those very simple reasons I pointed out don't even come up. Somehow that always upsets me.
JorikPar Exactly! finally someone!! with some sense!!! thank you! JorikPar!
Read the book, it explains why they help and don't help.
It really did make you cry when Aragorn charged ahead in that final battle.
This trilogy got one-upped by the Thundercats Hobbit.
Actually, the events of The Hobbit don't really revolve around Bilbo. He's the main character of the book (well, movies in this case), but he's not the main characters of the events that are taking place. He helps the dwarfs a few times, he kind of drags them down with him a few times too. Bilbo seems like the main character because we see the story through his eyes, we relate to his emotions of not really knowing what to do in an adventure like this and just wanting to go home, but that's just Tolkien's brilliant way of making the story more understandable to children. Kids might not relate to Thorin's quest of reclaiming his royal title and his family's fortunes, but they can understand the poor Bilbo who's lost most of the time and just as impressed by the events taking place as the reader is. The most important characters are Gandalf and Thorin.
I lost it at khaleesi
RainbowTime I hope you'll find it again.
The same here XD
RainbowTime me too :D
RainbowTime This may sound dumb, but what/who is khaleesi?
A female character from Game of Thrones.
To be honest, this movie is a lot better than a lot of movies that get much more hype (example includes Fifty Shades of Grey).
Fifty shades of grey gets attention just because it is bad. It has 4 on imdb so yeah.
+Vania Belinda
25% on rotten tomatoes are the exact opposite of an hype.
Yes there are worse movies than this one, but why do you compare it downwards? Thisway movies will get worse over time, always try to exceed the best ones, not just be not as shit as the worst ones.
+Vania Belinda No one thought 50 shades of grey would be good
+Vania Belinda so you never read the book did you
Vania Belinda fifty shades of grey only gets hype from teen girls for some reason despite the movie being extremely creepy and gross if Mr. Grey wasn’t rich. I mean it’s extremely creepy and gross regardless so I don’t understand why people don’t find it so
The big lebowski joke killed me 😂
Khaleesi LMAO ROFL
Komninos Maraslidis that gets me every time
When it comes to The Hobbit, I personally liked Unexpected Journey the best, followed slightly behind by the also enjoyable Desolation of Smaug, with The Battle of Trying To Stay Interested For Five Minutes far far behind the other two.
To sum up what I thought was wrong with The Hobbit: BOFA(Spoliers!):
-The fact that Smaug's death was so rushed I kept saying to myself: "If he dies less than ten minutes in, THEN WHY WASN'T HE KILLED DURING THE LAST MOVIE!!!" Seriously, I expected Smaug to be in the film for more than oh, I dunno, ten fucking minutes! I believe that he probably wasn't killed off in the last movie so people would have no choice but to go see BOFA if they wanted to see the dragon slain.... seriously though, they should have just made it two movies.
-The half assed romance between Tauriel and Kili. Oh no, Kili died, and he won't get to fuck Tauriel. Did anyone care about the "chemistry" between these two? Seriously, out of all the plot lines in these movies, it was the one I gave the least amount of shits about. Tauriel herself, who was pretty badass at times during DOS, is reduced to nothing but a bland love interest for Kili in BOFA, she gets saved two fucking times during the final battle, once when Kili takes a blow for her, and the other when Legolas has to save her useless ass. God damn fuck this stupid romance, it had no reason to be here.
-Bilbo's backseat from the protagonist to side character. This movie was Thorin's, but it really should have been Bilbo's imo. Hardly the biggest problem there is with this movie however.
-Any CGI thing that wasn't Smaug. Smaug looked fucking awesome as always, but everything else? Well the orcs looked like something from God of War 3, the gold...barfs, and...wait...wait a fucking minute...holy shit...THEY MADE A CGI BILLY CONNOLLY. A FUCKING. CGI. BILLY. CONNOLLY....why? It's not even subtle, Beowulf looked more fucking convincing, and that was 7 years ago! Look I understand that Billy Connolly is an old man, but surely they could have made him look more convincing than this! Actually what the fuck is Billy even doing here? He's in the movie for a few minutes and then we never see him again! The CGI in these movies never looked that good imo, Gollum and Smaug are exceptions.
-Alfrid. Just. Fucking. Alrid.
- That rushed as fuck ending. Seriously, before I knew it, Thorin, Kili, and Fili were all dead, the battle was over, Azog was dead, Tauriel spews some bs about "OH I HATE THIS LOVE FEELING, TAKE IT AWAY", and Bilbo is all like " DON DIE TORIN DE EAGALZ AR CUMIN". And again, before I know it, Bilbo's back in the shire, people are buying his shit because they think he died, and then the movies cuts forward sixty years to...OMG teh start of TEH LOR O TEH RINGS WOH....yeah the ending was awful, I mean, there was no burial seen for Thorin, Kili or Fili, Bilbo and Thorin's relationship with Bilbo is tied up so briefly it's crazy, and we never see what happens in the bard's town after the battle. I mean shit, I thought the opening was rushed but this was just fucking ridiculous.
-The um...Super Mario style, Legolas jumping scene....SERIOUSLY WHY
Overall, I was hugely disappointed by The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Horrid pacing, mediocre CG effects, subplots that go no where, an awful ending and....fucking Alfrid. And I thought Jar Jar Binks was a bad side character.
Bilbo was okay as a backseat protagonist although he definitely should of had more screen time.
Seregios I enjoyed Unexpected Journey the best largely due to Bilbo's character in that movie, as I feel he should always be the character with the most screen time in these movies personally. Oh, and Martin Freeman's endearing performance always helps.
SaiyanGoku9001 I also enjoyed it because of that but Bilbo had almost no role in the battle in the book. Since this movie is about the battle they couldn't really star Bilbo.
Seregios True, but as you said, he definitely could've had more screen time.
SaiyanGoku9001 That and the annoying side characters getting way too much screen time. I mean nobody cares about Bard's wife and kids, Legolas's father, the many random orc antagonists, or the Scrooge mayor of Lake Town and his Scrooge discount Johnny Depp crowny yet these characters get more screen time than Bilbo Baggins.
Please say: Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
I second this! If anyone can pronounce this correctly on the first try, they deserve the most tasty cookie EVER.
Did it! Now gimme an egg and dairy free cookie >:3 (I'm allergic bruuuuh)
Prisencolinensinainciusol
Skeptical Simmy If anyone says most tasty, they deserve the most disgusting cookie EVER.
i'm sad because these movies could have been so much better. Peter Jackson was hired at the last moment and he just couldn't make it work with so little time.
At least someone other than me knows the real circumstances, and doesn't accuse jackson of selling out.
3 and a half years of pre-production is for you "the last moment" ??
davidss79 Was it that much? Nevertheless I don't think 3 years is alot to prepeare for filming 3 big budget hollywood films.
FullChicken44 they prepped quillermo del toros Hobbit for years, but because of the constant t delays By the studio, he left. Jackson was then brought in.
Jackson says he had to write parts of the movie while he was FILMING. That's how bad it was. I don't know if that was an option but he should've just said no and let the studio deal with it.
I loved battle of the five armies but I do agree with this video lol
yep me too.
+Carlos Beltran It's definitly a good movie, but it's kind of like the star wars prequels. They're very good movies, but compared to the originals (here LotR), they're just not that good.
Carlos Beltran Have you seen the extended edition? It’s so fun :D
"Oh wait, is, is that Bryan Cranston?!?!?!"
Well
I think it might've been. I thought that when I watched it.
BIG HERO 6
Seconded.
Thirded
Twilite Hiskie FORFDED
Fourthded
Fifthded
these are my two favorite youtube channels, I've been hoping they would collab for a while now
The hishe short seriously makes me laugh way too hard 😂😂
Thumbs up for a funny, entertaining video. Not that I totally agree because I liked this movie a lot, but I do understand the gripes and this was pretty funny.
Did you also like that the movies explained what Gandalf was doing and gave Bard actual character and not just a name? Those were the main reasons I thought the second movie was better than its portion of the book.
I haven't actually seen the movie yet; based on what I previously said, do you think I'll like this movie?
Davis Jensen You will like the movie. Honest Trailers has to ham it up to make a funny video, but nobody can fault Peter Jackson for not making the dwarves more memorable, because he did a far better job than Tolkien bothered to do. Of course the story of The Hobbit isn't as engrossing as LOTR. That's why they made the LOTR movies first. As for Legolas defying gravity, _HE'S AN ELF._ In the first LOTR movie, we see him barely leaving a footprint on top of the heavy snow that everyone else is trudging through, waist deep. Galadriel showed her scary face in the first LOTR movie too. If you liked the first two Hobbit movies, you'll like the third one too. Just take the criticisms with a grain of salt and form your own opinion.
stevethefishdotnet Just, a tiny little bit mistake. Tolkien repeats the name and the specialities of the dwarves for like 50 times for each.
It doesn't matter what is in the book. When there is an adaptation of a book, it should be as close to the book as possible, even if it isn't great. If they had done that, The Hobbit would've been amazing and not just sort of okay.
+Whovian1029 disagree, i already read the book thousand of times, why wouldnt i want to see more new things?
I absolutely love this trilogy, but I have to point out a few of the mistakes made in this film.
1. Aragorn is still in Rivendell during the time of The Hobbit.
2. I love the character of Tauriel, she is just so awesome and bad ass. But the elf-dwarf love story was weird and unneeded.
3. Alfrid should have had an ending like Grima Wormtounge. I was really hoping he would die, but hopefully in the extended edition.
4. Way too much CGI. I mean couldn't the casting directors hire 5,000 extras like they did for Rings.
5. I understand that Peter wants to show us more of Middle-earth that we are sadly not going to see on screen. But that doesn't mean he can just throw it in The Hobbit, like it is just another event during the dwarves of Erebor try to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. Those events happen at specific times for a reason.
I may be one the few Ringers/Tolkienites that actually likes these movies, and I find that very sad.You may not agree with me, that is ok. Just give Jackson credit... he created an epic out of a Children's book- and I applaud him for doing that. But I think Professor Tolkiens ideas should have been more respected by the film industries advantage of using them.
Point for point... I agree, you are not alone in your thoughts.
Thank you. I totally agree with you; people don't realize how much money and effort went into putting this story on screen for them. And I completely agree with you about Tauriel. That love plot was dreadful.....XD
So wait, Aragorn is like 90 in the time of lotr!?! If he's 10 years at the time of the hobbit and 60 years later bilbo leaves the shire, then like 15-20 years pass before frodo leaves for rivendel.
17 years... I believe it was.. 17 years where no one realized that the ring Bilbo gave Frodo was the One Ring.... He kept it hidden and safe for so long without knowing what it was... During that time Gollum was captured and tortured finally giving up the names Shire and Baggins...
pokecrafter88 Yeah...you can hear him say he was 87 in the extended edition of The Two Towers.
When 2 universes unite, it's just perfect. HISHE and Screen Junkies are just 👌
One of my favorite movies. Idc what people say I love these movies.
HISHE got me here, I'm happy to see my two favorite channels working together! Keep it up, please. And congratulations!
3:56 I literally made that reference when watching the HISHE before watching this one hahahahha Yeah it really doesnt make sense not to Use your Medieval GRABBOIDS My God
That animated bit basically sums up my feelings on the whole Hobbit trilogy. Fine job.
this is the type of thing where you have to love the movie/show so much that you can hate on it with no feeling whatsoever.
Fun fact: the epic tales of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings were condensed into FOUR PAGES in Tolkien's greatest work The Silmarillion. Next adaptation challenge for Peter Jackson?
He doesn't have the rights and they won't give them to him because Tolkien's family hates what he's done to the story
Ivan Cherganski You're right, and I meant the film adaptation of the Silmarillion as a joke since it's such a dense book :)
Lemon Curry fair enough :D he'd make it into 47 films probably
The Silmarillion would be cool as a tv series I think. Like a Game of Thrones type thing spread out and leading up to, The Hobbit...
creekandseminole
absolutely
The five armies.
Dawrves
Elves
Humans
Orcs
Eagles.
And
Wizards
Magical elves
Siyam Khan
there was an army of wizards?
In the book the five armies are listed, they are the dwarves, humans, elves, orcs, and wargs. The wargs are what the orcs ride.
Predator
Bitches
Whores
Gays
couger
couger adult
not eagles...the fifth army was of goblins
Btw I cry every time i watch the first lord of the rings where Gandalf "dies"..... And they have that song playing, just gets me.
Two best channels for making fun of movies and games finally teaming up it EPIC
Did I just see a Half-life 3 honest game trailer coming soon or it's just my idea ? O_o
Define soon. Like Gabens "soon" or our soon :D
Hahahaha :D
It's probably an April Fools joke.
SteamPunkWillie64 Well it's not impossible,if yes we got trolled really bad
My heart skipped a beat when I saw it. I was like,"Is this actually a thing?"
Read the book and I really don't feel like watching these movies now
Good video
Please do watch them, there are an awful lot of incredibly good parts to them.
IAMTheNerdHerd The problem is they're scattered between an awful, awful lot of boring unnecessary parts.
The first movie was dull. The second movie was honestly one of the worst movies I've ever watched. And both were filled with so much unnecessary changes from the book that ruined what could have been well done plot. I have not and will not see the third movie, Peter Jackson gets no more of my money after this crap fest.
Steven Thrasher Feel pretty much the same.
mokeydudester Naw - forget the movies - unless you loved LOTR for the bland ambivalence of good vs evil....
please kindly bless us with your awesome voice saying:"One Ring to rule them all,One Ring to find them,One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."
When you put that Return of the king clip between the hobbit stuff, I got goosebumps. That was the only time.
Say "This town is full of monsters! How can you sit there and eat pizza!?"
The five armies are:
Goblins
Wargs
Elves
Men
Dwarves
(Based on the book)
The fact that you put goblins instead of orcs is right, because its the way the hobbits called them.
Addicted to these ... there goes my planned weekend of studying!!!
Interstellar! Bring it on!
smasila
A flawless joke, sure.
smasila You're joking, right?
R4id3nz
I don't know about you, but media sold me this movie as "scientific", "made with the help of scientists".
I had to sit down 3 times in order to finish it.
It was as scientific as Star Wars, but unlike Interstellar, Star Wars does NOT try to be "scientific".
And people eat it. People actually believe it's scientifically accurate! When logic fails are smirking in their faces throughout the movie! God, I don't even...
Ignorance is a bliss it seems. For me it's either science or fiction, but sure not this pseudo-scientific crap.
Sorry, if you enjoyed it then good for you. But it was not a good movie.
Björn Mätal what is your definiton of a "good movie" if it isnt that it worked at some point to entertain people? If you want scientific accuracy go watch some documentals.
I totally agree. Black holes definitely do NOT contain a portal to the third dimension, and a planet couldn't be so massive that it actually warps the flow of time.
Say "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!"
Isvoor Also, "Bye bye, Bilbo!"
Demanding blood for Khorne doesn't come with the right vibe unless you yell it.
....and add "Milk for the Khorne flakes!" :]
YEEAAHH, a Warhammer 40,000 reference! Let's pray he reads it!
Btw, did he ever read a Warhammer reference in any of the videos, I just wonder.
Oldlando Bloom killed me XD
One of the best credit sequences in an Honest Trailer for sure.
Say: “My voice is so epic it needs no body”
John Wick honest movie trailer
Pretty Please with a cherry on top!!
4:15 exactly what i was thinking - then you said it
Totally right! The pipe-scene WAS the best scene in the movie!
THE INTERVIEW

4:20 What the hell is Gandalf doing with that smoking pipe of his?
Getting rid of the old tobacco in it and putting in new tabacco I think.
N_Meister Right. "Tobacco." That's what Gandalf smokes ;-)
"4:20" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He smokes pot, so he's getting rid of the evidence
he smokes elvish pubes
My god, i´m stucked in a endless loop. Screen Junkies sends me to HISHE, and they send me back here. There is no escape!
I cried at the end ....
THANK YOU for mentioning how awesome Martin is as Bilbo and how a movie trilogy called "The Hobbit" Couldn't even keep the hobbit as the prominent role
I know you guys hate these movies ,but I enjoy them. But I do recognize how disappointing BOTFA was... Definitely should have been 2 awesome films, and not 2 good and 1 meh one (PS I HATED ALFRED SO MUCH)
l think it should have been just one pretty cool animation
Ivan Cherganski the first time this was a movie it was. also spock did the soundtrack
nord knotwork
No idea what you're talking about but l am intrigued
Ivan Cherganski there is an animated movie from the 70s that gets the book pretty much perfect and lenard nemoy did a song for it called the ballad of bilbo baggins
nord knotwork Yeah l looked into it...trying to acquire it now
I think the starring section should have covered every character in the movie. You know, like....
-Dwarfy Downer
-That guy
-The old one
-The one with the weird hair
-Jungle Fever Dwarf
-Jungle Fever Dwarf's brother?
-Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Bashful and Doc
-The one who's the cousin of Dwarfy Downer
-Bat'leth Arm
-Bat'leth Arm's son or something
-The elf that stole Santa's reindeer
-Kate from Lost for some reason
-Lego Los Egos
-That bear guy you completely forgot about from the first one
-The nature wizard you wish you could forget about
-That human
-That human's son
-Bad angry Bert from Sesame Street who never gets what he deserves
-The bad guy from the good trilogy
-Puff the Magic Letdown....
"The Bloating of the five pages" - the best description yet :D
Fucking loved this Trilogy I'm gonna rewatch it again for the 7th time but in 4k
Lol, dat "Honest Game Trailers for HL3" doh. XD
