Great video. My bike has the same problem if cut off while riding from getting gas. The next morning it was on empty. I ran my gas line straight to the carb and it started. You just a sub from me.
im having cold starting issues on my new chinese gy6 that just clocked in 400km on the odo. i've since upgraded the CDI, spark cap, spark cable, check all the hose, took out and ran the auto enrichment to see if the needle is working (it did work) and still having starting issues it wont stay running unless i put on some throttle. just ordered new petcock and hopefully will solve the problem.
Really good video. I know it's a few years old but I have a question. Would it be easier to just install an inline fuel shut off valve rather than relying on the petcock to work correctly? I would hate to deal with flooding of fuel, especially if the carburetor float malfunctions. Thanks
Hi Bobby Thank you for commenting on my video if you put a inline fuel shut of valve you have a high chance of flooding the carburetor I would personally stick with the petcock valve as carburettors are very sensative and it would be designed to have a petcock which runs in line with the auto choke they are cheap on eBay good luck and enjoy working in the tools Regards Richard
@@richardshomemechanics5566 you're welcome! But i still have a problem. (Sorry for my english, i'm french speaking😉) When i try to run the scooter, the gas won't come, but when i inspire the depression hose with my mouth, the gas come out. Do you have any idea about that? Thanks a lot!
Hi fred6Eric It could be you have got the pipes from the petcock the wrong way round or it’s your petcock has broken and not allowing petrol into the carburettor
@@richardshomemechanics5566 it's a new petcock 🤷♂️ I put the hoses like you show. It's possible that's come from the admission pipe, valves, pistons rings? The gas filter is'nt the original one, it can be a problem? Thank you for your answer 😉
So I noticed if I shake my moped I get a little gas build up on the inside of the boddy panel in the rear. I am wondering if one of these failing could cause that? I get a lot of bogging down like I am starving it for gas when I start and occasionally while driving. I am testing fuel milage to see if I am decreasing anything noticable but not sure where that gas is comming from or if thats normal if you kinda rock/shake it?
HELP! when I suck on vac hose fuel comes out fuel line but when I start bike "87 elite 50 S" with vac hose connected to carb, no fuel out of fuel line. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Richard have you come a cross a petcock that lets petrol go down the vac pipe as well as carb I just put on new pipes and can see a little going down the vac pipe may be my starting problem what do you think on this thanks. Jeff
Hi Jeff The petcock I believe should only allow fuel to come through to the carburettor when the engine is starting / turning over otherwise it will flood the carburettor and then flood the spark plug making it hard to start this is done by vacuum very like when you suck on a straw in your glass of Coke stop sucking and you get no coke very similar to a vacuum set up with a petcock Hope that helps Thank you for watching my video on my channel Regards Richard
Omg, I've been driving myself nuts trying to figure out what the deal was! I tried to put on my old petcock yesterday and when I unhooked the fuel line going to the carburetor fuel just kept pouring out so that means it's bad?!... Right?
I'm new to the scooter scene and having the same issue so I'm going to try that I've done everything to it
