    The Power ratchet must make this process much faster. I need one of those. I’ve recently learned “ HOW TO” change spark plugs, only because our local shop is about 2 months out on any repairs and or regular car maintenance. This Video is a great help to many people like me, so THANK YOU SO MUCH! I appreciate you taking the time to both video and explain this process, while not ( IMO ) wasting time. The Lexus LS430 is a great car and back in the day was the LEXUS FLAGSHIP. At one point, you even had to give a non refundable deposit, just to be placed on a waiting list to purchase a new one because of the demand. The 2004 LEXUS LS430 was around $70,000, if I remember correctly. In 04, that was and still is a lot of money for a car. The car I’m referring to is actually my Mothers car. She purchased new and still drives this car, with very little issues. The car is now around 19 years old and my Mother is 83. As her Son, I try to help with her car among other things. Both are still beautiful and going strong. The car is sorta a metallic WHITE w TAN guts. No wrecks and cleans up absolutely beautiful. Great Paint. Sorry for the lengthy post, Im a little excited as I just finished replacing the spark plugs due a rough idle and sluggish acceleration under a load while the Check Engine Light had started flashing from time to time. I scanned the engine and low and behold, wouldn’t ya know, a Code P0301 & P0306. As y’all may know that’s Cylinder 1 & 6, which are located on different banks of the engine, so might as well just replace all of the. I’ll stop and just say THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS VIDEO!

    I did this job 3-4 times on my 1uz when I had my Soarer couple years back. No coilpacks. Interesting to watch. I used to take me a couple of hours I had LPG stuff in the way that made it hard and time consuming. Had a Chaser also (1jz) and I got a spark plug change down to about 15-20 minutes.

    I have a 2004 LS. I purchased 7 Denso plugs for about $7.50 each from AutoZone and one from the Lexus dealer for about $12.00. So, much cheaper from AutoZone. The plugs appear to be identical but Lexus comes in Toyota packaging, while AutoZone comes in Denso packaging.

      There's no way it made a difference they are the same exact plugs. You had something else robbing your fuel mileage and it happen to fix itself or you calculated it wrong. Ebay didn't sell you fake plugs that looked the same and stamped the same. Hopefully you didn't contest the sale and do a ebay claim. Just screws the seller due to ignorance

    how do you take the coil pack for cylinder 1 in driver side? It's blocked by dipstick and I have trouble to take it out. Thanks!

    • @theantgarage
      @theantgarage  5 років тому

      I was able to wiggle it out.

    • @ArcturusTech
      @ArcturusTech 4 роки тому +3

      Looking from the driver side fender, after you undo the bolt, it helps to twist the coil pack 180 degrees so the bolt hole on the coil pack points leftward away from the dipstick tube. The contacts of the connector will point down toward the exhaust ports. That creates enough of a gap to gently nudge the dipstick tube to the right and allow the coil pack to be pulled all the way out. If you do it right, you shouldn't have to struggle with this. No wiggling or anything.
