@@user-sx2jx6yn3jno it doesn't necessarily, we've had a perfectly well functioning economy for a while prior to this point in history while places like Pakistan have had a better cost of living than compared to the UK.
The two aren't tied by the hip, it depends on what those in charge do with those funds and they've frankly focused on corruption and luxury for the rich. People are at the point they couldn't care less if we have a decline in luxuries in this country if it means in exchange people can afford the basic necessities of life.
A lot of normal people don't care about the economy anymore, they see through the lies told by decades of politicians who just allow businesses to undervalue labour and waste taxpayer funds. The political system needs a complete overhaul - too many people paid in those positions with too many benefits for doing too little.

Sunaks issue is that he believes the general public see the economy as the #1 issue; it is not even in the top 5. Immigration, Housing, NHS, upholding traditional values, Law and order are all more important to the every day person.

I was born 1942 and if this time is difficult it is because of this Tory Government kicking off with the insane and disproven austerity that is now recognised as setting our economy backwards. The higher energy prices came from the Tories running down our gas and energy reserves not taxing the obscene profits of the energy companies to offset such prices. Covid was mishandled by the Tories who cancelled the department set up by Blair to handle plagues when were hit by Ebola before. I have Long Covid that's cut 80% of my energy and strength after Johnson took down the mild safety measures we had so a young woman came up and breathed into my face in a shopping queue in May 2022 giving me Covid. (See Laurie Garrett's 'The Coming Plague' published 1994.) The Tories destroyed our economy and standing in the world by Brexit that costs us £100billion a year with the destruction of the majority of our small businesses. Then the corruption the incompetence the sadism the lying of our Tory Governments has destroyed the UK in every possible fashion. Vote these lying bastards out of office forever.
