Thank you so much for sharing this! I´ve read about Monolith in very early Cradle interviews but I´ve never heard a note. I totally see the Gorefest connection you mentioned. So, the producer worked with "S Corpse 7"? Sounds interesting, hehe... Now, start your own distro, get this one around!!!
This sounds excellent. Your high praise already had me intrigued but then hearing it towards the end of the video was the icing on the Death Metal cake. Would be great if the album would get a reissue. Cheers Narc
Raw Skull would be the perfect label to put it out… & I’ve since found out that they have previously enquired about putting it out… to no avail. Thank you as always for watching Simon🤘🏻
This is some crushing Death Metal. That's quite awesome that you knew Nicolas Barker back then. He's still one of the greatest extreme metal drummers in my opinion.
A true hidden gem, and not in the context that I use the term meaning something I was unaware of. 😄 I hope this gets some interest from a label willing to release it. Doomed To Obscurity here in the US has been doing great work with out of print albums and demos, sounds like it would be perfect for them. Great video, and thanks for the education! Cheers Marc!
There are some amazing yet obscure UK death metal bands from the 80s and 90s. I've got a lot of demo cassettes that would sound great if they got a repress
Nice one Marc. Have had this on my wishlist for a long time. There are some cdr/tape unofficial stuff for sale, but I want a proper release. So hope you're video will help us out. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I really do hope that one day it does get the proper release it needs… & on all formats too… as I know how you feel about unofficial releases Roger. Thank you as always for watching my friend… I hope you are well🤘🏻
I often forget that my mate, Marc, was such an integral part of the UK extreme metal scene back in the day, and for that, I apologise. This Catalepsy/Monolith story makes you realise how many incredible bands didn't quite make it to a level they deserved. I'll definitely be tracking this down, and hopefully, a label picks it up and releases it fully. Great video, dude 🤘
I just heard the Faces Of Death demo by Catalepsy and It's heavy and absolutely savage. If I can get Tales of the Macabre then I'm keeping It In my collection, I am always on the hunt for hidden gems in Death Metal. Awesome video as always Marc! 🤘🏻
Top notch as always mate! I remember we chatted about Monolith last time we hung out, that 7" is killer! I wish I still had my copy of that Catalepsy demo!
I remember going down to cacophonous as a younger version of myself they were based on portobello road in Ladbroke Grove not far from me and pressing Neil about getting that out. Great to see you feature it mate. Definitely needs to picked up by someone and physicals pressed! Top notch me old mucker!
I’ve got a feeling I went in that shop in portobello road I bought storms nordavind on vinyl still got that! That was years ago can’t remember the name of the shop
That was fantastic Marc , great bit of background on Monolith and your connection to the band makes it so much cooler Delighted to have a copy of such a fantastic album Cheers Marc 🤘🍻
Hi Marc!!! Well done, so cool to see you showing that old recording and knowing the story behind it. Hope a record label, i think this will be perfect for this "smaller" label that put out "obscure" releases and as you said give the full treatment...... Btw both band's names Monolith and Catalepsy are very cool. cheers and be well
Cool stuff! Wouldn't mind finding a copy of the Catalepsy demo and the Monolith tape. But, like Roger wrote in his comment, preferably official releases. A Divebomb reissue with soth on it would be cool.
bloody hell, I bought a copy of that from a distro table at a Whitehouse show years ago, likely second generation bootleg if you say there's only 10. Along with a cd by a band called smashed face...I don't remember listening to either. will have to hunt them out
Some bloody good old uk death bands like Evoke, Lacerator and bands like Reprobate. Used to do a lot of tape trading back in the day and have loads of old demos etc. Saw Impaler live with Cancer, Demolition Hammer and Massacre on Massacres from beyond tour.
Hope somebody will Release that Album! I would like to have that one in my Collection! This Album Sounds fucking awesome! Your a lucky man to have that one in Your Collection Marc! 💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘
Crazy, interesting story/history of Monolith. Definitely a underrated hidden gem in extreme music. I'm glad you got to know the members on a personal level, Marc.
Catalepsy Faces of Death that takes me back. Back in the day seen Cancer at Royal Court Basement Liverpool 1991. If I can remember I’m sure they were selling that demo. But more so the T shirt Faces of Death Red logo 6 serial killer faces, then faces of death 😊written underneath always wanted that shirt great times 🤘🏼
Great spotlight on this unknown Death Metal band Marc! I've never heard of them, but they do sound great! I'll definitely have to check it out if I can 😁🤘🏻
‘Charnel Deity’ & ‘Incarnate’ are both monster releases & absolute classics from the U.K. Death Metal scene… but people have heard them… as they’ve had official releases & reissues. This is the best U.K. Death Metal album to NEVER have been released… imo! Thank you so much for watching & commenting Mike… I appreciate it mate🤘🏻

Thanks for showing this hidden gem Marc. I never heard of it. Going to go see what I can find on Discogs.
Sounds killer, and agreed needs a proper release! Somebody like Raw Skullz could handle this.

Job well done! Tape copy ordered...
Not heard of them before but it does sound decent. Certainly the definition of a hidden gem. The test pressing is mega money looking on Discogs.
That is an unbelievable story… a lost gem! There has to be someone out there to breath life into those test pressings
Very cool back story and a real shame that they never got off the ground and got that record deal. 🤘🤘
Top notch as always mate! I remember we chatted about Monolith last time we hung out, that 7" is killer! I wish I still had my copy of that Catalepsy demo!
Marc stop giving me albums to want!!! Great video my friend. Love hearing about a new band. I'd love to collaborate a video with you at some point.

Fantastic work shedding light on a lost treasure Marc 🤘 Hopefully it gets out there and not lost to time 👍🤘
Also, nice shirt mate 🍻👍

Never heard the monolith album, such a shame it never saw the light of day. Did have and used to love the faces of death demo.

I do hope a label releases that Monolith record…I’d buy it 💎

Being an old school death metal fan, this is an album I would have picked up back in the day if it was released. Sounds killer
Hope somebody will Release that Album!
I would like to have that one in my Collection!
This Album Sounds fucking awesome!

Great to hear some background to this album and cool to see physical copies even if they are bootlegs.
Enjoy your weekend mate 🍻🤘🏻

Had that catalepsy demo, seen them live and had the faces of death t shirt it had various serial killers on

its mediocre, Impaler's Charnel Deity is much better as is Necrosanct's Incarnate
