She is the woman who sings time of my life at the end of dirty dancing
With Bill Medley.
Woman or women. One or many.
@@dennish3032 woman woman typed it fast sorry
Wow I never knew that! Thank You
The remaining righteous brother
From Officer and a Gentleman...classic..need to watch that movie. It's iconic to our culture, a lot of references are made to this movie.
There is no other voice like Joe Cocker's. This duet was just magic!
Great song from a great movie. An Officer and a Gentleman is a must see.
This is one of the best duets ever. I loved it when it came out and still do. Cant go wrong here.
You’re right! Fantastic!
Jennifer Warnes was the Queen of the Soundtracks back in the late '70s and the '80s. She sang "It Goes Like It Goes," the theme song to NORMA RAE, which won the Oscar for best original song at the 1979 Academy Awards. She took home a Grammy in 1983 for "Up Where We Belong" and then another in 1987 for "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" from DIRTY DANCING.
And going back further, Right Time of the Night.
The last song, she sang with Bill Medley from the Righteous Brothers
@@Mark-zu6oz Good one!
ua-cam.com/video/DyjmHzYfmWE/v-deo.html don't forget this
Up where we belong
Officer & a Gentleman is one of my favorite movies. 😍 It won 9 awards, 2 being Oscars. 13 nominations total.
Louis Gossett Jr. 🤩
@@CurlieGrl He’s a great actor!
Wife and I were watching this video and she said the same thing. They need to react to "An Officer and a Gentleman." Good song, great duet.
Including best original song for Buffy Sainte-Marie.
i got married in the building where gossett and gere fought. it’s a chapel.
You have to see the movie “An Officer and a Gentleman” with Richard Gere, Louis Gossett (win the academy award for his role as the drill sergeant) and Deborah Winger.
One of the best movies you’ll see about the military, kind of like the sergeant story
It is a great movie. I saw it in the theater as a teenager.
That's such a great movie!
When you watch the fight between Louis Gossett & Richard Gere at the end, Jay, be prepared to feel for Richard!!!
This song won songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie an Oscar for best original song in 1983. She's the only member of the Cree tribe to win an academy award. She was on the cast of Sesame Street for five seasons from 1975 to 1980.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It is 100% pure and raw beauty. This is the song to listen to you when you are at a low point in your life. It'll always bring you back up.
You can't listen to this song without seeing An Officer and Gentleman play in your my mind. Rob will really love that movie.
Now that you’ve heard this huge 1982 hit, you have to see the movie AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN! It’s really a good story with strong performances by Richard Gere, Debra Winger, and Louis Gossett, Jr., who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film. This song also won the Oscar for Best Song the same year! Since it was co-written by Buffy Sainte Marie, she became the very first Indigenous person to win an Oscar!
I'm a big fan of Buffy. If you were a kid in the late '70s you probably watched her on Sesame Street.
This song is so beautifully sung together.
Jennifer Warnes is one of the most underrated singers in music. Her solo songs include I Know a Heartache When I See One , The Right Time of the Night and a fantastic cover of First We Take Manhattan that features a guitar solo by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Famous Blue Raincoat is such a great album!
@@CharCanuck14 It's a masterpiece.
Spot on.
Totally agree. I've been a fan ever since her first hit, "Right Time of the Night".
Oakhill...well she didn't have many songs
You DEFINITELY need to watch An Officer and A Gentlemen! It's iconic, and it has elements that both of you will enjoy. ❤
One of the greatest songs ever made. And one that triggers some early childhood nostalgia for me. The softness of her voice and the grit of his - perfection.
"An Officer And A Gentleman." IMO, one of the best movies made!
“An Officer and a Gentleman “ describes the main character in the movie! You should check it out! The song was absolutely wonderful!
"An Officer & A Gentleman" "Steel Magnolias" "Silkwood" "Norma Rae" "Blade Runner" "Erin Brockovich" are ALL movies you guys need to see, whether you "react" to them on your channel or not.
"Greased Lightning", "Fame" (the old one), "Flashdance", "Grease", "White Nights" (I really love this one, makes me wanna dance, everytime I rewatched it)
Agreed Angela! Great recommendations! :)
Yes! Norma Rae is so good. I just watched that again the other day, but this time with my son. He was surprised by it and loved it. Excellent suggestion.
YES!! Another one is Fried Green Tomatoes. Another Tom Hanks great is "Castaway". There's just a ton of movies Amber & J need to see. 😉
@@Gevalher-Prime If I'm not mistaken, they did "Grease" already... but definitely agree with the others.
Another beautiful duet from the 80's is 'Somewhere Out There' by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram. It was the theme song to the movie ' An American Tail'.
Up
Came to the comments to see if this was recommended! That song makes me cry buckets.
Co-written by the late James Horner. Same w/ "If We Hold on Together" from The Land Before Time.
"Almost Paradise" by Ann Wilson of Heart and Mike Reno from Loverboy. It was from the original Footloose soundtrack. Another great movie duet!
Jennifer Warnes had a duet with Bill Medley from the movie Dirty Dancing , I Had the Time of my Life
Gotta watch An Officer And A Gentleman; this song won the Oscar for it and its a wonderful film. Enjoy!
This song was written by Buffy Saint-Marie, a phenomenal musician, songwriter, and person. Buffy is still out there, singing and writing. Huge catalog behind her. Check her out!
Didn't she sing " One Tin Soldier" from Billy Jack?
@@beckoz77 the band Coven did that
No that was sung by jinx Dawson….she was in a band Coven……
Buffy sang Universal Soldier….not from the movie
@@4508blueskywould like for Rob and Amber to react to that one.
Oh yes. Joe Cocker.. one of my favourites. Such a great singer and what a character. Also another quite famous song. You guys are on a roll today.
Jennifer Warnes also did a duet with Bill Medley, of the Righteous Brothers called (I've Had) The Time Of My Life. It's a great song!
They reacted to Dirty Dancing on their movie channel. (Bill from the Righteous Brothers)
Ahhh, well, I've never seen Dirty Dancing and had no clue that song was from that movie. Haha! Shocking, but true. 🤭 Interesting. 👍
@@gypsyrocker I'd recommend the movie, especially if you'd like to see Patrick Swayze acting and dancing.
I learn things from these comments all the time : )
@@surlechapeau I can't believe I wrote Medley Brothers, I'll correct that. That's too funny. I know it's the Righteous Brothers!! How embarrassing! I'm laughing so hard, but it's been a long day for me. 😂😂
She also sang Skin To Skin with Harry Belafonte.
A beautiful love song for sure and the Movie An Officer and a Gentleman is a must see
Jennifer Warnes is a journey you guys should take .. brilliant singer.
Remembering my mom & dad dancing in the kitchen to this song. 🥰
Another BEAUTIFUL DUET is Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin singing "Separate Lives". Their voices are stunning together and the song is gorgeous! 💗
Gotta love a classic 80's duet. Easy to see why this one was a #1 in several countries.
Jennifer Warnes also had a huge hit with Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers. It was the theme song to Dirty Dancing, (I’VE HAD)THE TIME OF MY LIFE. Would love your reaction to it.
An Officer and a Gentleman was filmed in my hometown in Washington. The paper mill in the movie was where my grandfather retired from back in the day and yes that mill stunk lol. That movie brings back so many memories as was in high school then. oh, the good old days.
RIP Guitarist Jeff Beck. He passed away yesterday. He was 78. I first heard him in the 70's. Beck's Bolero, What Mama Said.
Jay & Amber, You'll love her "Right Time of the Night"!!!!
You'll love his "The Letter" and "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" !!!!
You've heard her duet "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" with Bill Medley. It's from the movie Dirty Dancing which you reviewed.
I like her I Know A Heartache When I See One too…. And his Feelin Alright.. which you’ve already done… ha…
Right time of the night is a good one from the 70's
From the movie An Officer and a Gentleman with Richard Gere and Debra Winger must see film.
This song was so big when it came out! 💖
"Right time of the night," and" I know a heartache when I see one" are great solo songs by Jennifer Warnes
This truly is a classic song, so emotional and the movie is good as well. I love 80's music!!!
Brings tears to your eyes in the last scene of the movie with this playing
This song is so beautiful, it's almost spiritual. I was raised in the Assemblies of God church, and they are so strict on music and stuff. But my pastor was so moved by this song, he played it during a Sunday Morning service at the time this song was popular. He just stood there at the pulpit taking it in with us. I was like 13, and I loved rock and popular music, so I had already heard it. I can't ever remember him playing a secular song ever, with this one exception. He said he felt like The Lord moved on his spirit to play it for the congregation. I don't know why, but I cried tears during that service while the song was playing. 💖 Excellent reaction.
The woman who wrote this song doesn't publicly claim to be a member of any church, but she has expressed agreement with many beliefs of the Baha'i faith.
This song always makes me think of my parents who were married for 32 years before my dad passed away in 1991.
My mom joined him in 2015.
I know they're up in heaven dancing to this song.
This is one of those songs that when it comes on, you have to sing it, you will sing it!
Jennifer Warnes has a beautiful voice. RIGHT TIME OF THE NIGHT ❤️
Now you have got to watch An Officer and a Gentleman on movie night. The final scene works so well because of this song and collaboration. You cannot go wrong when great music adds to the emotional response by the audience to a film. Also Lou Gpssett Jr. Shines with Gear and Winger. This was such a huge pop hit but the film was amazing.
Officer and a Gentleman is an awesome movie and this song fits the film perfectly! Please watch and enjoy!
You will absolutely love An Officer and a Gentleman :)
Love how J has grown to appreciate the slow jams.
I haven't heard this songin years. It was a gigantic hit in the early 80s. Thank you both for reacting to it. I can't recommend AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN enough to the both of you. You'll love it
This was a major song for the movie. "An Officer And A Gentleman" from 40 years ago.
Do review this movie when you get a chance... Richard Gere, Lou Gossett (won the oscar for his role) and Debra Winger. If you liked Top Gun, this is about getting through the training just to be in the Navy before moving on to flight training.
There is a video of the two of them singing this live, with a full orchestra in Antwerp, Belgium. It's an incredible performance.
That mellow side of him & how he can bring it down & still have that grit. I really miss him and what he still had to give us.
This song was my wedding song and the song that was played at my wife’s funeral. So much emotion.
RIP JOE COCKER!! YOU ARE SORELY MISSED!!
I've always loved this song. It's a great one.
Oh yes!!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!! One of my Fav!!!! Favorite Songs!!!!!
Absolutely Joe cocker is amazing unique vocalist. The song embodies what people mean to each other. And definitely you do have to watch officer and a gentleman. Fabulous film.
If you enjoy duets, give "I don't know much" a go, by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville, you won't be disappointed.
💖💖💖💖💖
👍❣️😃❣️👍
Linda and James Ingram
You should check out “Somewhere Out There” by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram from the animated film “An American Tail.” You can watch the film with the kids.
Some other songs from movies that you will like are:
“Can You Read My Mind” by Maureen McGovern from the film “Superman” (1978).
“Morning After” by Maureen McGovern from “The Poseidon Adventure” (1972).
“Through The Eyes of Love” by Melissa Manchester from “Ice Castles” (1983).
“The Way We Were” by Barbra Streisand from the film “The Way We Were” (1973).
“Let The River Run” by Carly Simon from “Working Girl” (1988).
“Car Wash” by Rose Royce from the film “Car Wash” (1976).
“Rainbow Connection” by Kermit the Frog from “The Muppet Movie” (1979).
“Moon River” by Andy Williams originally from the 1961 film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Williams released his version in 1962.
Great song, great movie too.
This is my favorite song from one of my favorite movies. Played this song at my wedding instead of the wedding march. The lyrics, voices and instruments just speak for themselves, so beautiful. I highly recommend the movie An Officer and a Gentlemen, so good.
If you want to hear CLASSIC Joe Cocker, you need to check out Lawdy Miss Clawdy!! You will LOVE it!
J and Amber both will like the movie, An Officer and a Gentleman.
Wish you did one of the versions of this showing them singing together onstage...great how they worked together!
Not only is Jennifer Warnes a wonderful, underrated, singer/songwriter, she is a master of knowing when to pull back to let her duet partner shine. She does it here and she does it again on the The Time of My Life with Bill Medley (who only agreed to sing the song because he'd heard that Jennifer Warnes would be singing with him). Her solo career deserves a turn on Female Friday.
Jennifer Warnes is indeed an accomplished songwriter best known for collaborating with Leonard Cohen on at least eight of his albums. Her first movie soundtrack was Norma Rae, starring Sally Field and Beau Bridges. She won the Oscar for best original song in 1979. This tune was written by Buffy Sainte-Marie, who won the Oscar in the same category in 1983.
@@willdwyer6782 I know. I have all her albums/cd's going back to the very first one. She is an extraordiinary singer/songwriter.
An Officer and A Gentleman is a classic.
No matter how many times I listen to this, I always hear the first line of the chorus as "The lift goes up where we belong" - 'lift' is what we in Australia (and the UK) call an elevator.
This is one of the classic duets that never gets old. We are blessed that this song came out while we were young. 💜💜 The film An Officer and a Gentleman is definitely worth a reaction on your movie channel! Looking forward to it!
Another duet you might consider is "Don't Give Up" with Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel. Quite lovely.
Oh yes, that is a good one, I may have to add it to my list...
Jennifer Warnes always sings the opening song for "Norma Rae". It's a beautiful song and a great movie.
Yes yes yes! Would love to see you guys do An Officer And A Gentleman on the movie channel. One of the best!
Love this song!!!🎉
You just did one of the all time great duet love songs. I remember listening to this song on the radio when it came out and everyone would stop and remark how it was one of their favorite songs because it was so good. Great choice.
Joe Cocker, from my City, we are real prouof him here, along with many others,we make great music in Sheffield, south Yorkshire ❤
Another great duet you should try is "Suddenly" with Olivia Newton-John and Cliff Richard!
You guys might as well and review the movie in which this is featured. You'll love that one.
Jennifer Warnes was successful in the late 70s into the 80s. Right time of the night was a big hit in ,1977 and her duet with Bill Medley from the movie Dirty dancing, I had the time of my life
Watching you two enjoy this song makes me remember the first time I heard it. You guys are great. I just love you.
This song was SO HUGE when it was out. As far as Jennifer Warnes, I'd definitely recommend "The Right Time Of The Night." That was a pretty big hit for her.
I enjoy watching you two move to each song as much as the songs themselves! haha This song is easily one of the best duets ever but my favorite of all time with duets is ROY ORBISON /K.D. Lang CRYING!!!!! Listen to that one and I think you'll agree!
40 years old.
This song was #1 for 3 weeks in that strange 2-year transition period, that abyss, between the end of Disco, in 1980, and the dawn of the MTV Music Video Era, popularized by Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album in late 1982, which changed music forever
As an eighties teen this brings back soooo many memories. Joe Cocker is a legend. Great reaction. ❤
One of Warnes’ biggest solo hits was Right Time of the Night from 1979. She also did an album of Leonard Cohen songs Famous Blue Raincoat. Try Bird on a Wire or Song of Bernadette from the album.
Song of Bernadette is wonderful. Love that whole album.
Now you have to react, on your movie channel , to “An Officer and A Gentleman” with Richard Gere. This song is from that 80’s movie😉 👍
No one can out perform Joe Cocker. 😘
Joe Cocker was so adorable... ! :)) Great voice !
Jennifer did a lot of work with Leonard Cohen in the 70s before making a name for herself in the 80s
Jennifer Warnes album
Famous blue raincoat
Is brilliant
All Leonard Cohen songs
Oh yeah! Have always Loved this song ✌❤🎶
*AWESOME TO SEE THE NEW GENERATION LISTEN TO REAL MUSIC*
Speaking of duets, you should listen to With You I'm Born Again by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright.
First heard this beautiful song when I saw the movie, "An Officer and A Gentleman". Please add this movie to your movie reaction list! You will love it! Thank you for this reaction! ✌💙✌
I absolutely LOVED this song when I was a little kid. I'm a sucker for a good duet, and for some reason I've always been drawn to Joe Cocker's voice and sound. Even from a very young age, I knew there was something amazing about his style 😍
This song was my introduction to Joe Cocker and I've been a fan ever since.
Look for John Baluchi impression. It’s awesome
This is a great song. Another great 80's duet that you should definitely listen to is Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton's cover of Bob Seger's classic "We've Got Tonight" from 1983. This version is so good and Kenny and Sheena's voices blend so well together. You should also play the video where Kenny introduces Sheena to come on stage: so iconic!! I also hope you react to more Sheena Easton songs soon. She has a powerful voice and you should start with her song "Strut", which is a dance classic and fun. Keep up the good work!!.
I'm pretty biased, but I prefer Bob's version. Bob and I have kept in touch as friends since we met 20 years ago when we were racing sailboats from Port Huron to Mackinac Island. He won the race two years in a row in 2001-02.
You heard Jennifer Warnes with Bill Medley doing "I've Had the Time Of My Life" in the movie "Dirty Dancing."
I was 14 years old when this song was released. It's certainly stood the test of time. My favorite duet is a hidden gem that not a lot of people have probably heard. In 1994 an album called Rhythm, Country and Blues was released. It contained duets by R&B/Blues artist with Country artists. My favorite song on that album is my all time favorite duet. It's "When Something is Wrong with My Baby," sung by Patti LaBelle and Travis Tritt. Y'all should definitely check it out, though you can only find audio only versions on UA-cam. To the best of my knowledge they never sang it live together, which is a crying shame!!
Ah... the 80's ballads, growing up in that range has definitely put a bias in me, but I do love them. Though one thing about this one in particular, while most male/female duets tend to favor the female vocals, this one has Joe fully up front.
Cool song! Try the instrumental by Mason Williams “Classical Gas”!!!🤘🔥
A beautiful song from my childhood that just takes a permanent place in my eternal soul.
Jennifer Warnes got her first hit in the mid 70s "Right time of the night" Worth checking out
If you want to check out a duet look in Ann Wilson from Heart and Mike Reno from Loverboy Almost Paradise from Footloose if u haven't done it already.
Jennifer Warnes is always amazing. Careful though, she will lead you into Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits.
Yes, she will. Strange, wonderful territories everyone should explore. :)
