- If you ever wondered how they make the fluffy tutus they sell for $65+ on Etsy or other websites. Well this easy How To Video shows you just how easy it is for you to make it yourself for a loved one or to sell.
Tutu Size and Measurements
Size Elastic Length Fabric
Mths. Waist of Tutu Yards
NB. 12” 4” 6
0-12 13” 6” 7
12-18 14” 7” 8
18-24 15” 8” 9
*Add 1” to Elastic Waist to close elastic ends
*Length is the folded fabric measurement, so multiply that number by 2 to give you the length to cut your fabric.
Example NB is 4”x2=8 so cut your fabric 8” wide to fold in half to give you a 4” tutu

At the beginning of your Tutorial your list says Cut 1” to Fasten the tutu but when you are cutting the Elastic you cut an inch off of it so!! I’m Confused 🤔

When you cut 12 inches across and you ended up with 2 pieces do you just use the other piece on another tutu or you used both pieces for that tutu?
I love this tutu video. Im so sorry im terrible at math. May anyone be able to help me with the yardage for a 6-8 year old? I want it to be 12 inches or 13 inches long so she can wear it longer. Her waist measurements im getting. I know already I need to by more tule. I only bought like 4.5 yards.

The cutting bit has really confused me. I’m a beginner and I just can’t get the folding and cutting part before it goes into the machine.
What do you do for the tule to not get stuck in the machine while you’re sowing? Am I doing something wrong?
Hmm, what settings do you have on your machine? You can also hold the fabric down as you feed it into the machine, sometimes a pushing motion can help it from jamming.

Which is the best tulle to use for tutus? Polyester or nylon? Or, does it matter?
Hi there! I use polyester because I find it to be slightly stiffer, but honestly both will work very similarly. I will say depending on the manufacture, sometimes I buy the polyester tulle and some bolts are softer than others. But my tutu’s always come out great regardless.
