Since I pretty much only shop there on a saturday, my mind always deducts 20% from those prices because of their $5 off $25 online deal. I like the clover valley cream of celery soup better than campbell's. I add a few plantain chips to make it a kind of mock tater soup. I also get their Broc cheese soup as well and do the same thing. My wife loves Purex laundry detergent and I get the $10 size when they have it on sale for $8 and of course get 20% off that on saturday, so $6.40. I do the same with our dry cat food.
Went to Kroger this morning here in middle ga.. I’d say at least 80-90% of organic fruits were gone with out of stock stickers…. The bagger said it’s a issue with getting them in.
Good morning! Sorry, I just can’t digest $3 for a can of soup 😳😳😳 As always, thanks for the info Danno! Hope you and Jess have a good time on your getaway ☺️
Scarry how fast the value is draining out of the Federal Reserve Note, especially since 2000. Takes a $1 to buy what cost a nickel when I was a child in the 60's. Candy bar 🍫 is an example. Things arent worth more, it's the failing dollar. That's what inflation means.
I agree with you, but since I was a child then, I was was living on a .50 allowence. Once a week we went to town and I got a hamburger and fries for .25, then walked over to the general store and got a candy bar and a Choc-Ola for .10. That left me .15 to splurge on something else lol. I remember how much I hated soft drinks & candy bars doubling to .10.
@@davidkessinger1581when I was in Junior High School it was downtown and it didn’t have a cafeteria. So when lunch came around everyone would go to town and eat lunch. I remember getting a huge cheeseburger for 30 cents and a large cherry coke for 5 cents. It was a real cherry coke from the drug store. I got 50 cents per day for lunch. The cheeseburger and cherry coke was 35 cents then I always got a candy bar for 5 cents. That left me with 10 cents left over and that usually went for me to play the pinball machine. That was the good old days.
Hormel Completes are a great Stock up/Stash item, easy to warm, even cold are edible, not junk food, good shelf life, good enough to be in rotation of current quick meals, good variety of choices at a decent price. Hormel Completes are at the top of my Longterm food storage items because of all the reasons above, and i eat them for lunch on the road. DG in my area West Central Minnesota dropped Mane and Tail shampoo, very disappointed, I've used it for years and have had to go to Runnings (our farm store) for it, it is Horse shampoo. Rexall Band-Aids at DG are some of the best Band Aids i have ever bought, very flexible and exceptional stickiness i find far better than the name brand.
ours too, you can’t find anything a lot of times at the one here, unless you have an hour to search through piles of randomly piled items. I don’t know if customers are just ditching things out of carts wherever and they don’t restock it back, or if the employees are just putting things wherever, but it’s difficult and then you can’t tell what the price is because the things you found weren’t in the aisle or shelf they were meant to be on.
"Canned jalapenos recalled over glass in product" Food Safety News. M-C McLane International of Houston, TX is recalling canned jalapenos because of glass contamination.
A gallon of milk at my local Dollar General is $3.50 which isn't bad _all things considered._ I think the prices fluctuates with the availability. It was $3.65 around to weeks ago. I'm fairly certain that I was paying $1.99 for a gallon of milk at Aldi 10 or so years ago.
I never shop here, have always thought prices were too high but then again some people may only have those stores near them, plus hubs does not like off brand food items much. Honestly don't think this store will make it if inflation stays high for the foreseeable future. Saw where Starbucks earnings were down, that $7 coffee is going out of style.
there is a canned jalapeños recall now, and the cream cheese recall is expanding to other states. I am trying to be as careful as possible. I haven’t been to a Dollar General yet this year, I have wondered if it is still like it was. It was always such a mess in there last year, with everything jumbled on shelves like no one put it back. They did have a good selection last time I was there, but it was all over the store like some kind of thrift shop, nothing had a specific place on shelves.
There are deals in every store, if you keep track of prices. I am hoping for some really good ones for next week before the holiday weekend. At the DG and others. DG opened its 20,000th store and is planning 800 more this year. I always see stuff i didnt know they had. Good video. 😊
Your first line is soooo true. Even high price places like Publix and Whole Foods run deals. I won't go out of my way, but I keep track of prices (of the items I purchase) everywhere I can.
Thats an answer you would have to "experiment" and discover for yourself. There are just as many differing opinions as there are coffee brands as to "which is best".
I walked to my local Dollar General yesterday and found a small bag of methamphetamine lying on the walkway in front of the store. In this instance however I don't blame Dollar General because my small town is close to the border and has a noticeable homeless population and drug problem, and they are frequently found together. Their parking lot is very clean otherwise, but their aisles are too narrow.
I still give potted plants as gifts. I buy those plastic pots in the garden area to give with them, because they are waterproof and do not leak on someone's table. Years ago, they used to have those cheap plastic or foil wraps to decorated them...but they still leaked. These work perfectly...but you have to buy them early in the year. They often are out of them, so I am guessing that they sell fast.
