In this video, we look at filtration and crystallisation, which are both examples of physical separation techniques. First, I discuss how filtration is used to separate an insoluble substance from a liquid. Then we look at how to set up the filtration apparatus. We then look at how to separate a soluble substance from a solvent by crystallisation. Finally, we explore the use of state symbols.

Thank you for saving me for my year 11 mocks in november
mocks are next week for me! thank you for everything you've done
got A 9 in physics and 8 in bio just by watching ur videos 😭😭 And now im studying for chemistry, THANKK YOUUU
howwwww 😭😭
plsss share ure revision tipsss
legend got mocks in 3 weeks u savin my grades

my bad😓
sorry
caught me my bad
sorry sir
😅
how does he only have 834k subs he has saved millions of lifes
Crystallisation bit starts at 2:45
thank uu
Hey sir. Your channel has helped me in regards to revision. I like how you condensed the topic down to just what we needed to know, as you yourself said: no waffle, just the facts. However, there's something I need to say. Can you please describe the diagrams you put on screen. I'm blind so it would help to have someone describe the diagrams so That I can visualise them in my mind. Thanks a lot for all you do for us,
MA
I need you as my teacher smh my teacher marks my homework as missing when my work is literally right there 💀
you are brill, thanks pal
Thank you for your amazing videos sir. You are really helping me with my exams 😀 (I subscribed)
Hi sir I hope you are well your videos are great and help me a lot. I wanted to ask so far how much a level biology content have you covered
I've covered just over 50% so all the Year 12 content and a bit of Year 13. I expect to have all the Year 13 content covered by the end of 2024, early 2025.
So around mid 2024 you will cover all of year 12 content for biology
Sirthese videos are very helpful is I just started year 10
thank you so much
Remembering the practicals is so hard idk how you guys do it
Hi sir, I thought we needed to know more steps for the crystallisation method (e.g. filtering the solution, using an evaporating dish, then heating it gently and finally patting them dry or leaving them in an oven)? Will it not come up as a 6 marker method?
Hi. You are describing the required practical "Making a soluble salt". There is a video for that which covers the whole method.
thank you 😅@@Freesciencelessons
Afternoon sir, urgent question tomorrow is my chem test and I have upcoming mocks I just want to ask would we need to know the method for crystallisation as well or just evaporation
Hi sir I was just wondering by when do you predict you will finish Yr13 biology and chemistry because that is what i an doing next year.
I'll have finished Year 13 Biology and Chemistry by mid-2025.
Have you done every gcse science? Thank you so much for your lessons, they have helped me get an 8 in my end of year examinations, hoping for a 9 in each for my mocks!

Hey sir what is the best way to memorise the charges, names and formulas of common ions since they don't give them in gcses now
They give the periodic table, just remember how much electrons the element needs to lose or gain to make the outer shell more stable
I’m only in yr 10 but you got me from 3s last year to 5-6 rn
Sir is the sodium chloride solid crystallization the mixture we need to remember or can they ask about any elements?
Question: do you edit these videos by yourself?
guess iv always wanted to know so i thought id ask this random question hahaha
thank you for these videos they are a lifesaver
Sorry for the late reply. I do the whole thing.
Do you have any videos on properties of materials. Gcse
Thanks
will this video work with edexcel? Because I am learning this in edexcel chemistry too
Yes there's a massive overlap between the AQA and Edexcel GCSE specs.
Hi sir, what playlist is this GCSE video under? Thanks for your incredible work I can't thank you enough :)
This is in "GCSE Chemistry Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table".

Hi sir i was just wondering if all your videos so far for a level chemistry have covered all of the year 1 content, or is there still some year 1 content that you haven't covered yet
I have finished all of the AS Chemistry videos so the content should be covered. However, I would recommend that you check your spec. If there is something that you think I have missed, please let me know.
would igcse have the same methods?
most likely
👍
