We are nothing but insignificant, incredibly brief flickers of cohesion stuck to the surface of an insignificant bit of dust floating in an infinite void, orbiting a glowing speck that's one of a couple hundred billion specks that make up just one of the couple hundred billion galaxies that are close enough for us to count. Half the purpose of religion is to put as much self-delusion as possible between the believer and this fact. Most people seem completely incapable of understanding that the meaninglessness of existence is freeing: Nobody is special. You have no fate, no pre-determined "place" in the universe. Being bred for battle doesn't make all people suited for it from cradle to grave, my man. Violence is traumatic to the inexperienced, no matter who you are.
@leroy shane You're not wrong, but implying that Vegeta wasn't molded by the violence in his life is entirely the wrong approach. Goku, for example, didn't have that kind of influence and treats fighting as more of a personal challenge, rather than a matter of supremacy or pride. Mob's character is entirely shaped by his initial Reigen, especially the part wherein he is told that "You must live your life like a normal person." Reigen is the lightning rod that absolutely grounds Mob, despite his overwhelming power, and I think that his nature would have done the same to any anime protagonist that happened across him, from Goku to Urameshi to Ichigo to whatever the main character of that pirate anime was named. He's just a normal guy who finds himself thoroughly whelmed by the extraordinary, and in turn allows extraordinary people to find a center by his ideology. Mob's a kid. It's okay if he runs away, even if he can easily handle whatever truly terrifying problem he comes across. Vegeta's past was already past by the time his appearance happened in both the anime and the manga, but it would have been okay if he ran away, too. This doesn't change the fact that he's effectively a child soldier that was unfortunate enough to not get slaughtered in the horrors of war, thus producing a callous monster who's still trying to come to terms with the overwhelming power he was blessed with, and the even more devastating power that Goku has. They're what would have happened to Mob if he hadn't found a solid foundation in Reigen. And that's also okay.
I really like the line “do you need to be special to feel okay?” This resonates with out society right now, we are all striving to be better than each other or different so we don’t get confused.
I don't need to imagine, I'm among that number. I heard the song first (not sure if it was our beloved Mr. Young, admittedly) then stated watching the anime. But yeah, I was a bit confused.
“And it’s okay if you run away.” Before seeing the show through this bit just seemed like a nice nod to how Mob disliked violence. However, after seeing all of season 1 this line... Man this line just hits so hard. Seeing Regin just stand for Mob like that it had me tearing up. “When things go south it’s okay to run away and save yourself.” He’s a shady guy but you can tell he sincerely cares about his student. It’s a shame about what happens between them in the next season but Mob was bound to know what was going on eventually.
Josh Herbert Well actually I'm not sure how to explain but the song isn't skipping the numbers Like it's : 19, 21, 22... When 21 is said it's like 20 + 1 with the 20 being emphasized but the one is said immediately after so it sounds like 21 but 20 is being said at the same time
The message of this song and the series is surprisingly impactful and meaningful. It's one of the first times I've seen a series value being not special more than being special, and it is somehow a comforting message.
Two years ago, I visited Japan for the first time and met up with some online friends. It was wonderful. But they left a day before me and on the last night, I was alone. I reverted to my introverted self and spent 12 hours in a tiny room in a backpacker's hostel, not wanting to go out by myself. I felt miserable, like I was a failure and wasting the time in Japan that I'd worked so hard and dreamed so long for. I ruminated on the fact that my years of Japanese study were actually half hearted and barely helped at all. I worried about the impression I left on my friends. I listened to this song that day and cried. The message that it's okay to be yourself, with all your flaws, hit me so hard. I don't know if you'll see this comment on a video so old, but I wanna say thanks. You gave me some comfort on that painfully lonely night.

Everyone should really stop criticizing Jon and Brandon. Just because it's not Nates cover and because it's not the interpretation you want, doesn't make it bad at all. It's the arrangement style they wanted and there shouldn't be any problem with that. This is an amazing cover by 2 amazing musicians and should be more appreciated versus taken in a comparison.

man that would make my day right now im pretty sure only Nate has an eng version of O.L and honestly love both your music you both put your own wonderful touches on your music and translations keep up the good work!
wow apparently the first person to ever do a cover of anything ever is this guy named "Nate" and everyone else is a mer imitation thanks comment section i didn't know that!
I love this cover but I wish they kept the "what you want" isn't of making it a regular sentence by adding "do" in front of it something about it being a fractured sentence flows better
The broken parts in the original Japanese lyrics, are actually references to the anime, special move names mostly, but also some events; Telepathy, Demon Rush, Psycho Showdown, Salt Splash, and Psycho Wave to name the ones I notice every time I listen.
Not only does this cover sound awesome, it has a great message behind it. I think a lot of people have found themselves out of place, especially growing up, trying to figure out what to do with their life. This song is basically saying you don't have to be the world's most powerful psychic to have a life worth living. "Your life is yours, so live each day". Really good message.
People keep saying in comments that people are saying Jon copied Nate....yet I see more comments of people claiming that people are saying it than actual people saying it.......
The show and this OP song are incredibly wholesome so I thought there's no way a metal cover could improve on that. I was wrong. This was on a whole new level of wholesome that the world needs!
(My interpretation of the lyrics) This is about reigen and the world talking to mob With the world trying to get him to use his powers to be special and gain society’s definition of happiness and success And with reigen telling him to achieve his own happiness and success without walking over others The world being like “You can be god and get the “standard” of success and happiness with your powers” And with reigen saying “you can achieve your own happiness your way” I like how it uses one deadly thing next to another more “dangerous” one “Fake smiles and laser beams” Showing that you don’t need psychic powers to gain wrongfully And that you should work to gain happiness your own way Because with either one you can gain But they both can harm The reason why I think one of the voices is reigen is because of “It’s ok to run away” And the fact that it all is said in one song and not in two different ones is great because it shows how impressionable mob is with how it’s not just him following reigen but that the world does have some influence on him To him it’s all just there all 100% of it Another thing I just thought of when thinking more about it The reason why the videos for the ops are so full Is because it’s from the view of mob Everything effects him so of course it’s such an overwhelming experience mob got lucky with reigen Think about it so it’s not even that these people are psychic anymore But that they are impressionable kids Think about umbrella guy He was super impressionable and it’s most likely the case with every other esper In claw that they were manipulated by the world and by certain people and it turned them into what they are now It’s kinda the same with I forgot his name tall hair guy that fought mob And the same could have happened with mob but it didn’t because reigen instilled good morals in him The more I think about this the more I appreciate reigen as a character But it really makes a statement that it’s not just these characters, it’s any young and impressionable kid That’s why we need to teach the young good morals so they don’t end up like the man children on claw

oh my god,,, the song is from reigens perspective,,,, my feelsssss
Master Reigen,i respect him
(My interpretation of the lyrics)
This is about reigen and the world talking to mob
With the world trying to get him to use his powers to be special and gain society’s definition of happiness and success
And with reigen telling him to achieve his own happiness and success without walking over others
The world being like
“You can be god and get the “standard” of success and happiness with your powers”
And with reigen saying
“you can achieve your own happiness your way”
I like how it uses one deadly thing next to another more “dangerous” one
“Fake smiles and laser beams”
Showing that you don’t need psychic powers to gain wrongfully
And that you should work to gain happiness your own way
Because with either one you can gain
But they both can harm
The reason why I think one of the voices is reigen is because of
“It’s ok to run away”
And the fact that it all is said in one song and not in two different ones is great because it shows how impressionable mob is with how it’s not just him following reigen but that the world does have some influence on him
To him it’s all just there 100%

Wow. i just noticed that line "It's okay to run away."
Spoiler:
That line used that time in the show by Reigen.
Reigen pussy...i hope one day he can act like proper person and shed his shady side and be respectable🤥

It's actually lyrically translated better here too XD
A&JGaming haters gonna hate. I love listening to covers and I can say this is one of the good ones ☕☺
How come this one didn't got taken down by copyrights but Natewantstobattle did I am wondering.
Jay M because UA-cam's system is broken af and noone will do anything about it. Seriously, it bugs me to no end how they handle videos lately.

“This song is about the illusion and downsides of feeling special and different, and looks at the upsides of not standing out”
Me:
*”FAKE-A SMILES AND LAZA BEEMS”*

Hey, I'm not sure if you take requests but could you do the Overlord opening?
Super SoulEdge That would be the most awesome thing ever. Jonathan Young! Please do this one day!
Omg yes ^^
man that would make my day right now im pretty sure only Nate has an eng version of O.L and honestly love both your music you both put your own wonderful touches on your music and translations keep up the good work!
DEFIANTLY GOOD ANIME
There is already a lot of English in that OP, but I still agree with you. His style would take very well to "Clattanoia"
wow apparently the first person to ever do a cover of anything ever is this guy named "Nate" and everyone else is a mer imitation thanks comment section i didn't know that!
I love this cover but I wish they kept the "what you want" isn't of making it a regular sentence by adding "do" in front of it something about it being a fractured sentence flows better
there is allot of broken English in this song if i pay attention to it it actually hurts
however if i just listen to the music it sounds amazing
The broken parts in the original Japanese lyrics, are actually references to the anime, special move names mostly, but also some events; Telepathy, Demon Rush, Psycho Showdown, Salt Splash, and Psycho Wave to name the ones I notice every time I listen.
The line that I like at this song is: "Your life if your own" like bruh dont let people control you. You can do whatever you want
2:15 Holy shit that scream was impressive as heck! Goosebumps all the way.

Hey man, you got requested a couple times on my live stream on Twitch tonight. I love what you got goin on. Keep kickin ass!
I love the slight smile in his eyes when singing "Graphic Exorcism Love" 😁
I've only ever heard the Japanese opening, but I bet you did the english one justice. This is great
I binged the entirety of MP100 last night, so I had to rush over here to hear this. So freaking good.
If this man wasn't inpressive enough he went ahead and did a metal cover for this banger, this man truly is a amazing
Hey john, could you ever do the Future diary openings? There really suited to your style!
Like so he can see!
you should do Let Me Hear from Parasyte
Its already english so it wouldn't make sense
That's an actually fucking good idea.
WOBBLYTWAT Just because it’s in English doesn’t mean it can’t be covered.
@@wobblytwat3964 we need it in english with a dialect that americans can understand.

and mix it with the one punch man opening lol
I know that I will be one of thousands asking but this cover was so good that I can't wait to see what you do with 99.9
Man that guitar riff was dope!! Gets me so pumped up!!! Keep it up man!
People keep saying in comments that people are saying Jon copied Nate....yet I see more comments of people claiming that people are saying it than actual people saying it.......
Now for a 99.9 cover!!
зачем это здесь
Ugh why can I not subscribe to you dozens of times?

Sam Svensson Unsub and then sub

I like how you snuck in a part of the one punch man opening theme.
The show and this OP song are incredibly wholesome so I thought there's no way a metal cover could improve on that. I was wrong. This was on a whole new level of wholesome that the world needs!
2:33
Possible reference to One Punch Man's theme song?
usually i hate english covers but this is.. this is gold
90% of the actual song is already English
I like how it seems like Reigen talking to Mob close to the end
beautiful voice, you did a great job covering this
Awesome!!! I always listen to this. It never gets old!
You know... I would subscribe to Brandon, but that would require me pausing the video to write everything down.
This is a moral quandary.

Blue Exorcist OP 1 (Core Pride)?
(My interpretation of the lyrics)

To him it’s all just there all 100% of it
Another thing I just thought of when thinking more about it
The reason why the videos for the ops are so full
Is because it’s from the view of mob
Everything effects him so of course it’s such an overwhelming experience
mob got lucky with reigen
Think about it so it’s not even that these people are psychic anymore
But that they are impressionable kids
Think about umbrella guy
He was super impressionable and it’s most likely the case with every other esper In claw that they were manipulated by the world and by certain people and it turned them into what they are now
It’s kinda the same with I forgot his name tall hair guy that fought mob
And the same could have happened with mob but it didn’t because reigen instilled good morals in him
The more I think about this the more I appreciate reigen as a character
But it really makes a statement that it’s not just these characters, it’s any young and impressionable kid
That’s why we need to teach the young good morals so they don’t end up like the man children on claw
What an extremely kickass job you did there. This genuinely made me break a shart load of sweat.
Got here way late but this series was awesome and so was this cover.
I started a few days ago and finished yesterday or the day before.
