    Yo! Thanks for the prompt response!! I haven't bought Komplete 13 yet. I wanted to get some feedback first. So, most of the programs should work on the M1 because of Rosetta doing the translation and as long as Logic X is the DAW be used? Yeah, I'm just going with Logic X on the M1 anyway. I have Protools and other on older Mac. I wanted to keep the M1 clean. I will probably add a Waves bundle or IK Media bundle ans that's pretty much it. Then slowly get some more UAD plug-ins as they go on sale this summer and during next Christmas. Thanks Joe!!

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  3 роки тому +1

      You can't change the folder that the Audio Units go in they must be in the components folder. MacOS will reject any unsandboxed plugins that are in other folders. But you can try this and it should help, open finder and right click on the logic icon in the applications folder then choose, get info. After that check the box that says open using rosetta, and then run the plugin manager and rescan the plugins that wouldn't work. After you do this uncheck the run in rosetta box and relaunch logic this should work for 99% of plugins that won't authorize even after using the plugin manager.

      I use a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter from Apple a regular USB-C adapter will not work you must use Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3. Thunderbolt 3 uses the USB-C connector but isn't the same thing as a USB-C dongle. Do you have to rescan again if you close the Logic session and reopen it? Or open a new Logic session or have to reboot your computer? That would suck if yes. Very interested in your answer pls.

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  3 роки тому

      No once a plugin is scanned it doesn't have to be scanned again until you upgrade that same plugin to a new version. So lets say you buy the Waves CLA76 logic will scan it when you open Logic for the first time after installing the cla76 the only time you will have to scan it again is when it is upgraded to a new version. Also Logic scans 99% of your plugins automatically as long as they are in the MacOS components folder since Logic only uses Audio Units and not VSTs. You won't have to go through the same process that I did in this video unless a plugin doesn't show up in Logic. You can't install Audio Units anywhere else except the Components folder. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching.

    Which Apollo unit are you using? I'm wanting to get a 16GB M1 MacMini to run with my Apollo x6, UAD-2 Satellite and Luna ... but all of the reports plus UAD's claims that the M1 won't work with UAD software is making me delay the M1 MacMini hardware upgrade.

    • @joesalyers
      @joesalyers  3 роки тому +1

      It works but you will have to enable kernel extensions there is step by step guide on UADs website. Also check out my other video on the M1 Mac Mini where I go through how you get the UAD software to work I'll link it at the end of my comment. I have an Apollo Twin mk2 and 2 Apollo X16 all of them are Thunderbolt 2 and I use the Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter from Apple. The Cheaper Startech adapter will not work with the Apollos. I also use a Thunderbolt 3 Satellite which works fine. Firewire Apollos will not work unless you upgrade to the thunderbolt card there are not work arounds for firewire Apollos except using the thunderbolt card. But yes they do work and here is a link to the other video but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you find the step by step guide on the UAD website because if you do one of the steps out of order it will not work. Basically you install the software and do not give any permissions until you do a full restart or it will fail. #1 install the UAD software. #2 The UAD software will ask you to give it permissions before you restart DO NOT DO THAT until after you restart just it cancel when those pop up come on the screen. #3 Restart your mac M1 into recovery mode and enable kernel extensions then reboot to the OS. #4 Now you can give the UAD software permissions in the MacOs preferences (Security & Privacy) #5 Make Music because everything will work. Here is my video on how to enable kernel extensions. Give it a quick watch to see how it works. But yes it works you just have to follow the step in the right order but so many people I have talked to that it doesn't work try to skip a step or do them out of order and it fails to work. @@jonathanbyron4785 You will need to load the driver the in exact order without changing that order, this was the issue 90% of people were having all through the comments section. They must be installed and if you do one thing out of order then the UAD console and plugins will be problematic and buggy. Search on the UAD website for how to install UAD on Apple Silicon. If you follow the steps in the exact order that Universal Audio set out in the instructions the UAD software will be rock solid. If you do one step out of order it will become unstable. I have been using UAD on an M1 Mac Mini and a M1 13 inch Macbook Pro since January of 2021 and it has been solid for me without any issue except 1 reverb plugin that isn't supported yet. But I did the steps out of order at first and it was a nightmare. Also I'm using Logic Pro as my main DAW so that gives me a little more stability on the M1 compared to other DAWs. But I can say that UAD works perfectly in Reaper, and Studio One as well as Logic. I can't speak for Pro Tools since we still use an Intel iMac Pro for our Pro Tools HDX system and we won't be upgrading our Avid system. When it becomes unsupported we will trash the system since it's outdated anyway running Pro Tools 12. New Mac Mini 2 days old. Trusty Apollo Twin, paper weight! I downloaded the latest drivers for nothing! Dead in the water! It might be time to move on...

      You have to enable Kernel extensions in recovery mode because of the new chip in the Mac Mini, so uninstall the UAD software and follow this UAD article step by step and do not skip any step and make sure you follow it in order. help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050791811-macOS-11-Big-Sur-Apple-M1-Compatibility-Info

      @@kingdommindset1462 Nope it will work its most likely, you are doing something in the wrong order. Either you haven't enabled Kernel extensions in recovery mode or more likely it that once you install the driver do not select the option to allow the software in the Mac preference until after you reboot the machine, after the reboot then give the UAD software permissions. If you allow the permissions before the reboot it will fail EVERYTIME. I think there have been 10 comments with the same issue on this video and everytime it's because you must not allow the UAD permissions for security and privacy until after a reboot. Also when you clear out the UAD software and run the terminal script that is on the page I linked earlier. Follow every step in order if you skip one thing it will fail. So take your time it will work I promise I have 2 M1 Macs both of them work perfectly and there are dozens of users in the comments of this video who have it working as well. Read through the comments and see if you are making the same mistakes that they have and how they resolved them. Cheers

      @@joesalyers Hi again. I'm in!
      You were right! It works. I had a hard time though.
      I got an Apple tech to go online with me. She was awesome, but she hung up with the both of us bewildered. She suggested i call UAD. I even showed her our correspondence.
      i couldn't quit, and success! Thank you so much.
