Music critic Jon Savage pinpointed Be Here Now as the moment where Britpop ended; Savage said that while the album "isn't the great disaster that everybody says", he commented that "it was supposed to be the big, big triumphal record" of the period. At the same time, Blur sought to distance themselves from Britpop with their self-titled fifth album, assimilating American lo-fi influences such as Pavement.
I bought this CD the day it was released
The song that taught me that a chord progression means very little, it’s the same basic chords as in wonderwall, but the feeling is completely different!
This is my 9th favourite OASIS song. What I like about this one is just the epic feel of it, d'you know what I mean?
The first cassette I ever bought when I was merely 12 years old... I remember playing the entire Side A & B on the radio after I returned from school
Love this Album. Dont know why it gets so much hate
Best band ever
Before Oasis get back together they must go see Howlin Wolf,,,Learn what a jammin session is Bring the Darkness and Grit Rock n Roll
I thought this song hit so hard when it came out. Oasis kept looking cooler every album. Probably my top 90’s band and that’s saying something.
I remember listening to it on radio 1. Everyone was raving about it!
Wondewall’s trippy younger brother.
Bad ass song and i love it as much now as i did in 97-98
Today, this epic album was released!!!!
Underrated nowadays
Lot of self references on this song:
Get back together this new Beatles song should show you its time,,,Life is too short,,,World needs good music dont fall off,,We want more Oasis
I bought this single, before I even knew what a single was.
Fond memories of learning these songs on guitar at the time , underrated record even by Noels standards but i realize it could had been better if the band had taken a break before going into abbey road for this . Power corrupts ;) 🤘
smoking pop right now!
Still the best
